A minigun only lasts as long as the gunner's first death, after that they would be cannon fodder. Urban cover in V is nowhere near as dense as IV, and Algonquin was by no means safe for ground guys even when underground. Players were only out in the open at the airport if they chose to be.

 

 

 

Frankly only time a chopper made my life hard in 4 is if I was hanging on the airport. In the city they weren´t dangerous. And here there are far more tools to deal with them. They wouldn´t be an issue.

They weren't present in the city much because most of pilots went for easy kills at the airport or hung around in teenage crews constantly circling in one direction only and calling each other "bro". But there were people that dedicated themselves to learning how to fly in Algonquin and those guys could give other players a very hard time indeed. There were players around that could go 20-0 in Algonquin in autoaim deathmatches. We used to do an event here called the Air Ground war, and the ground guys' favorite place was where the crane is near the Get a Life building. It was their favorite place because it was one of the few places where they could actually have a chance of winning and that was only possible due to the lag there used to be there and because pilots were banned from picking up health packs. Nope, Algonquin wasn't safe I'm afraid.

Maybe if they made it as fast as IV too. I hate how it handles like the Cargobob

Personally I feel as if the machine guns aren't that much of use, it's difficult to aim while trying to fly accordingly. If there's someone on ground level he can easily shoot the player or if it's a moving car, following it precisely and trying to aim at it is too much.

 

My solution would be to add auto aim for the guns. THAT would make it cool. Imagine the machine guns auto aiming at a moving car... A rain of gunfire pounding on someone driving really fast...

 

auto-aim is way too much

but why not add the ability to aim with your right stick?

I want it to be slow. I want it to lose in dogfights with other air vehicles.

 

I don´t want it overpowered and I certainly don´t want it spamming missiles and making life hell for others. I just want it to have a purpose. It should have the upper hand on the Buzzard for the purpose of attacking ground targets.

 

I don´t want it overpowered, I want it to stop being useless. Because getting a kill with that thing on a car or a pedestrian shouldn´t be a fluke, it should be easy in the right environment (open areas without cover).

Saying it was OP in IV is f*cking wrong on all levels. Of course It's going to rape you if you're in the middle of the airport, It's logic. But it was never overpowered in the city. Only the Buzzard can be OP.

Me too. It would be very easy to make it overpowered though. I think if you could have heavy weapons useable from the side, it would be spectacular but a fat target at the same time; which would be perfect.

Because it was massively overpowered?

Wasn't over powered, it took skill to use it. Just as it took skill to take one down. Which could easily be done with practice with a M4, rockets, or sniper rifle with practice.

Explosive rounds like TBOGT and also the speed needs to be increased. Both choppers got nerfed in V.

What we need is a small PLANE that's very agile with guns attached. Perhaps even a few bombs to drop. That is the definition of a classic dogfight. No BS auto-lock rockets.

 

And, you should be able to keep this plane.

I got shot down in a Frogger by one of these last week. I was amazed. Took it down real quick.

 

 

As for the plane with guns I can say this, maybe a Cessna with some smoke rockets to mark a target with an option to call in an airstrike on the smoke. Seems a little like Battlefield though.

Definitely not on the auto aim suggestion. I enjoy the challenge and skill it took in IV to chase a car down ANYWHERE and shoot you out of it. Auto Aim anything is not necessary at all.

 

In fact my biggest gripe about the choppers are the lock on missiles and the terrible first person view with the cross hair. I do not need a damn cross hair to hit my target with the chopper.

 

 

Annihilator lacks

Speed - gtav it was the fastest chopper

Range- hell the buzzard too, their shooting range is terribly weak, the pistols shoot farther.

Maneuverability- it's plain out sucks, combination of the flight physic of the same and it sluggishly slow speed I believe.

IMO it does not need explosive rounds like the lazer, I will take the bullets as they are now just extend the range.

The great thing about the weak guns on the buzzard though is that you can use them to shoot people out of their PVs without blowing those PVs up. Also, if helicopters had better range and nastier guns, V would become as helicopter dominated and imbalanced as IV.

 

 

Wasn't imbalanced in IV, Sure if you hang around open areas duh you are gonna get owned. With proper cover and the correct weapon you could have take choppers out easily.

I've even downed P99's with sustained fire.

 

Yup, I have shot down one terrible jet pilot so far with an Annihilator.

 

I hate flying that thing. It is slow, handles terribly and is a PITA to shoot anything that's moving. I wish they had the performance more in tune with the real Blackhawk. IRL a Blackhawk (183 mph) is faster than a Little Bird (Buzzard) (175 mph). Sure a Buzzard is going to be more agile but having the Annihilator handle similarly to a Cargobob is crazy. I love Blackhawks and wish they'd give the Annihilator the performance it should if it's really modeled on a Blackhawk.

Those were so called "pilots". I wish more people would have fled from me into Algonquin more often. Though I did hope for them to drive off to the central park though just so I could take them out quick. Alley ways were a bitch to kill people lol.

But, in real life, jets, and attack helis have auto lock.. its called.... wait for it.... technology.

More like heat seeking. If I fire in your general direction, they might swing towards you. That's not exactly autolock.

 

Damn autolock will fire my missiles sideways. And let's not get started on the amount of technology this game lacks to counter these autolock missiles.

It may be slow and all but it is the best anti aircraft chopper, makes mince meat out of everything that gets close enough, that is if you don't count the canon on the lazer that is ;)

It does have a purpose, and that purpose is shooting down helicopters at close range.

 

 

 

But you're right, it really does need to be buffed. It should have:

 

-A higher top speed

 

-Longer range for the guns

 

-More damage against cars and people

 

I think explosive rounds would probably make it overpowered though.

Agreed it took skill to use an annihilator in IV, but it took far more skill to take one down from the ground which left the annihilator as the big dog of the game. In TBoGT, both helicopters were stupidly overpowered and really just designed for casual players.

 

The OP is right though, the annihilator is currently pretty useless and could do with a change.

I once bailed out of an Annihilator from a huge height and it was still "alive".

It was smoking but it could still function.

 

I'd prefer if it had explosive shells, though. And invisibility to radar.

I think that it's guns should be controllable with the right analog stick once you start firing, kind of like drive bys in a car, but it's aim restricted to the front only.

Was it Just Cause 2 where the guns would move? I was flying the Buzzard today and thought to myself that it'd be cool to have them move.

I agree, and also mentioned this earlier in this thread

also like the idea some1 mentioned of having a passenger fire a heavy machine gun from the side door or something

 

maybe they could even do like different versions
