Stocks not changing

On my curren play through I invested in ponsonbys and lsc after a guide suggested to do so (as thee stocks supposedly rise)

 

However they have not risen at all. They went down and my character had about a ten k loss

 

Is there any in game trigger that causes them to rise or drop?

 

Yesterday I heard on news about VAPID being bought out by a guy who always liquidizes companies. Vapid was down so I invested

And eventually made a profit as it web from -50 something to +60 or thereabouts

 

I've made a profit with Hawk and Little, dollarpills and beanmachine

And ponsonbys and Los santos customs remain in the red.

 

Any help?

 

 

P.s. please do not mention lesters assassination missions. I am not talking about them.
