@cshllb: No worries man. I got tired of being called a liar and got a bit defensive. The patches for my Prospects Club and the Wrecking Crew were done with an SVG of the original image to save time, but the main HCMC patch is all R* Emblem Editor. Finally I said f*ck it, I'll make a video. I figured if there are any doubt after that, then it's not my problem, LOL!

I understand. I did the same, I made an assumption based on the amount of frauds I see online. You put alot of work into that emblem and should be proud of it. I would be. For me, the thought of spending 12 hours tracing a custom svg using basic shapes is just too much to bear ATM, but browser transparancy is really smart idea. Congrats on thinking that up.

It is a genius idea, but I can't take credit for it. I saw it on a tutorial on YouTube.

You have no idea what I can do with gimp. I made this one emblem in less than a half hour because I wanted something simple. Criticizing my skills as "terrible" is not only an opinion, but it's a f*cking insult. I used to make edits for hours to textures from Skyrim. You don't know sh*t about me. And if you think the creator emblem is better, that's your opinion too. I like both. My point was, I can't make the second one with the creator because it's so limited. Recognize when you insult someone for sh*t you don't understand.

Just finished the Mayans Prospect patch. I had to download the font and use GIMP to do a "Text Along Path" curve. Here is what I made in GIMP:
Then I traced it in R*EE using browser transparency. The S was a bit difficult on this one because of the low curve. This is the final product from the R*EE:

@hammer_of_thor13 great Hells Cowboys emblem mate, you've got some skills alright.

 

Maybe next update R* could make it a little easier and less time consuming on us by allowing shapes to be "grouped" into folders or the like. Would make dealing with hundreds of layers less painful.

I have a new question. If you make a second emblem, does it automatically get copied over to everyone's t-shirts, cars etc or do people have to apply it again?

 

If the latter, does that mean you can have a different emblem for different cars and for your shirt?

Where are people getting the idea that the SVG exploit was patched due to copyright and/or 'rude emblem' issues?

 

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed but rockstar have recently patched the method you could use to get any image as your crew emblem by changing the HTML code. I understand to an extent that rude and copyright images were being uploaded but it is just ruining the fun.

 

Even though they have done this they are still putting crews on the crew noticeboard that clearly have a HTML coded emblem, so thats what i don't understand.

 

Anyway, if anybody finds a way around this problem or another way to upload images then please comment it below.

You could, oh I dunno, maybe use the emblem editor as it was intended. Yeah, a novel idea I know.

Why does Rockstar let these Crews that are on the front page use their custom emblems, then? The reason they got rid of it is due to the copyrighted and inappropriate emblems but they went about it all wrong. And you can't be serious, the emblem creator is just clip art. How can you be creative with that?

lol you can be creative with Legos because they're a real world, 3D object. All you can do with the Emblem Creator is put shapes and pre-made icons. You can't even put text, there's no brush and no paint bucket. You simply can't be creative with the Emblem Creator.

 

I think you would be amazed to see how fonts are made in the real world lol... Yup that's right, they are just made from loads of "shapes".... The emb editor lets you change the fill type..and lets you do gradients... as well as rotate etc... Technically with no limit on shapes you can put down... someone with the creative SKILL could make pretty much anything using it....

 

Not sure what "paint bucket" means... you have full colour control including gradients like I said...

 

The way I see all the upset is like this.. A bunch of idiots thought that by getting a cool image off google images, then following simple instructions was in some way "creative", they showed their mates, missus and mum how great and artistic they are "look love, I made that!"... Now they need to use the emb editor to made a logo that matches their crappy crew name, and KNOW it will look like sh*t because the truth is.... they are just idiots.

Each crew can have several published emblems, but you can only have one "Active" emblem at a time. So currently, there's no way to have multiple emblems at the same time for the same crew. That's why to get a prospect patch and a wrecking crew patch, we made separate, secondary crews.

Two and a half hours in and I've only got the top rocker done. Safe to say Im over it already, but in the end it will be worth it once they wipe all the html ones.

 

One thing I would add is make sure you save it regularly, as a few times I tried to save I had issues where it wouldn't save properly and lost a lot of work

I hope they dont end up taking away the SVG emblem i put up for my friends crew, Nightstalkers PMC; it's an amazing emblem and i dont think i could do the whole browser transparancy thing and make it using the emblem editor. I dont feel like spending hours or possibly days making the emblem ._.

This topic is half of ''this sucks, we can use any image we want'' and ''SVG sucks, use real skills''.

 

If this SVG thing works is because there's a work-around in the code and is obviously isn't hurting anyone. Google me a court case where someone sued R* because an online crew used their stuff. Come on, like seriously.

 

Second, who the f*ck wants to spend 2-3 hours making a logo when a simple line of code can make a real world image in the game? Some people use Photoshop to make their own stuff so they're not hurting anyone. What if I took a picture of myself and put it in-game using the SVG trick? I doubt I can sue myself.

 

People who are against the SVG thing are so strongly opinionated about it. Oh, you made your logo yourself and it took you 5 hours? It takes me a second to determine you have time to waste on this. I'm sure Coin is going to quote me because he/she has been bitching to everyone as if he/she is making a stand but to be quite honest no one gives a sh*t. The SVG thing is kinda neat. It's like unintentionally giving a guy chocolate cake and then removing it and replacing it with the intended carrot cake. It sucks to downgrade.

 

Okay, let's make this fair by offering an alternative option to the SVG. I've said it before somewhere but a solution to the SVG thing is to make a better Emblem Creator. Anyone here play Forza? You can rotate the camera, use tons of shapes, letters, designs, layer them and all with ease. Using the R* Emblem Creator, it looks like they went to the intern and said ''right, we need a program where kids can put shapes together'' and the intern was like, ''give me 5 minutes''.

 

Unless R* update their Emblem Creator with more tools and flexibility, I'll stick with my SVG picture. You know why? It looks good. I like it. Am I hurting anyone? Unless the right holder makes a claim, I'll happily use it.

I agree, they should have made it to where you can upload an image, SKATE 2 and 3 had it what's the problems with companies nowadays copyright is not even a valid argument anymore when it comes to users uploading and using images on a site controlled by someone else

I don't like how limited the creator is. It should allow us to upload our own images, or at the very least, allow us to draw freehand. Using only shapes to create an emblem really sucks.

i started a crew just because i thought it would be awesome to have a custom t-shirt more along something i would wear in real life, so i went thru the hassle of making a versace logo SVG. did not work as per rockstar not letting me use a SVG. so i thought to myself it would be so difficult to draw the versace logo with the stupid little shapes because it has alot of detail. so i played around with it and came up with a gucci logo to put on my shirt and figured i could call it "gocci" (figuring all there car designs are knock offs of real cars w slight alterations) instead to conflict them being douchebags and trying to remove it, if they found it.

 

it turned out decent im happy with it.

Well, it's finally finished. It's not exactly like my original but it's close enough. Not entirely happy with his teeth but they'll have to do lol.

Because Rockstars has crews featured on their front page who are clearly using the SVG exploit. If they were so against people using this, they would remove these team's emblems or even countered SVG files in the first place. It's called putting 1 and 1 together, i don't get why people are even siding with Rockstar on this one. People like Biker-Coyte, the one who started this topic, put a lot of work into their emblem only to find out that Rockstar took this option away.

 

 

I don't know if that was pointed at me or not, but I'm not siding with Rockstar. I'd much rather have a fully fledged SVG editor instead of the crap emblem editor, complete with the ability to import SVG files so you can use whatever vector image editor you want - that would be awesome. I'm just asking if there has been an actual statement from Rockstar about the removal of this ability. Anything else is an assumption and that doesn't interest me. I'm not complaining about anything or accusing anyone of anything - I just asked if there's been an official word on this. That's all

Excuse me sir, but what happens with the people whose SVG files do not break any of those rules? And what happens with the people whose Rockstar created emblems do break such rules?

Those rules define the REGULATIONS upon which images should be based not where they come from, Why i cant draw some sh*tty stuff on Paint or take some img from public domain and use it on my emblem? WHY??

AND WHY I CAN DRAW COCKS WITH THE ROCKSTAR CREATOR AND NOT BE PENALIZED UNTIL SOMEONE FLAGS IT? WHY NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO USE THEIR PICS, AND THEN LET PEOPLE FLAG THEM IF THEY ARE INAPPROPRIATE? WHY?

^ it's not impossible to redefine the shapes in R*'s emblem editor. doing that you can basically upload any content to their editor. I have seen it personally in the last 48 hours, it's not patched. if you had a svg of your image you'd be halfway there...
