Why is it stupid Rockstar? Surely it is stupid f*ckwits for having porn and offensive images a emblems?

Yet another reason that shows the immaturity of many players

 

One other thing no one seems to of thought of is the effect it has on the graphics when people have these highly complex images.

Once these custom ones are converted into the creator, they still have to work in the same way as a properly created one.

Think about the amount of processing speed/time they take up? They must have an effect on performance at some point

At the end of the day, everyone has an opinion on what they think about SVG emblems and whether they should be allowed. It has happened now so we know that it won't be able to happen again. But it is unfair on people who haven't had chance to upload a cool SVG emblem yet if they don't take everyone else's away.

 

All i want to know is that if they do put a stop to it completely. They need to add to the emblem editor:

-Brush Tool

-Larger space to work with then scale it down when you save

-Easy rotate resize tools etc

-Maybe even somewhere you can put non copyright/rude images

 

OR if they decide they want to allow it then your emblem should need to be verified by rockstar first, which could take weeks like it did in the beginning.

No, and i didn't see the point in rude images. I am saying yes they should be removed but i got the impression you are saying it is immature to tinker with a small emblem creator to put SVG images in. It is if you are uploading rude images but not if you just want a cool looking emblem

I was however also offering an alternate angle as to why they might of removed it based on the possible effects it could have on graphics performance.

My guess is that it is based on both of those things and of course the copyright issues too.

i doubt it's due to copyright. there is a thing called fair use, and using the logo on a car in a video game falls under that. we are in no way profiting off the use of said logos.

Of course the chances of them doing so are very slim, but the fact remains, you are using a copyrighted image

It sometimes feels that way. Should just drop the ban hammer on those who uploaded images that clearly shouldn't have been, instead of disabling it altogether. At least I get to use the one I had for my crew, just a shame I can't use the others i had made.

I find this so ridiculous. There should be a Report Emblem feature if anyone really cares THAT much about nudity emblems. As for the copyright emblems, i understand that. Rockstar should just moderate crew emblems once a month and remove any copyrighted or inappropriate emblems. But no, they have to ruin the fun for everyone else who spent hours designing the emblem. The worst part is, they put people on the front page who CLEARLY have an SVG emblem.

Second, who the f*ck wants to spend 2-3 hours making a logo when a simple line of code can make a real world image in the game? Some people use Photoshop to make their own stuff so they're not hurting anyone. What if I took a picture of myself and put it in-game using the SVG trick? I doubt I can sue myself.

People who are against the SVG thing are so strongly opinionated about it. Oh, you made your logo yourself and it took you 5 hours? It takes me a second to determine you have time to waste on this. I'm sure Coin is going to quote me because he/she has been bitching to everyone as if he/she is making a stand but to be quite honest no one gives a sh*t. The SVG thing is kinda neat. It's like unintentionally giving a guy chocolate cake and then removing it and replacing it with the intended carrot cake. It sucks to downgrade.

Okay, let's make this fair by offering an alternative option to the SVG. I've said it before somewhere but a solution to the SVG thing is to make a better Emblem Creator. Anyone here play Forza? Unless R* update their Emblem Creator with more tools and flexibility, I'll stick with my SVG picture. You know why? It looks good. I like it. Am I hurting anyone? Unless the right holder makes a claim, I'll happily use it.

I don't like how limited the creator is. It should allow us to upload our own images, or at the very least, allow us to draw freehand. Using only shapes to create an emblem really sucks.

hell FWIW, i'm 99% sure the sticker on the back of my real trans am was made by someone who did not pay GM for the rights to reproduce the emblem to sell on ebay. That is way more of a copyright infringement than having it on the hood of my car in a video game.

 

hell, here's one just like my crew emblem on ebay right now. i highly doubt this person is paying GM.

Where are people getting the idea that the SVG exploit was patched due to copyright and/or 'rude emblem' issues?

 

 

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed but rockstar have recently patched the method you could use to get any image as your crew emblem by changing the HTML code. I understand to an extent that rude and copyright images were being uploaded but it is just ruining the fun.

 

Even though they have done this they are still putting crews on the crew noticeboard that clearly have a HTML coded emblem, so thats what i don't understand.

 

Anyway, if anybody finds a way around this problem or another way to upload images then please comment it below.

Why does Rockstar let these Crews that are on the front page use their custom emblems, then? The reason they got rid of it is due to the copyrighted and inappropriate emblems but they went about it all wrong. And you can't be serious, the emblem creator is just clip art. How can you be creative with that?

lol you can be creative with Legos because they're a real world, 3D object. All you can do with the Emblem Creator is put shapes and pre-made icons. You can't even put text, there's no brush and no paint bucket. You simply can't be creative with the Emblem Creator.

 

Of course you bloody well can. That was the whole point of the Lego example; putting pre-defined shapes together to create art. Just because you or I can't do it, doesn't mean others can't or haven't (and they have). You are absolutely correct about the lack of text options though; it baffles me as to why the emblem editor wasn't shipped with that.

 

Here's some examples from the Black Ops emblem editor with what can be accomplished with just 'clip art'. Whilst some people can use the editor, it requires a great level of patience.
The emblem editor for Skate 3, CoD and BF are all far superior.

Whilst I can't deny it's possible for good emblems, it's very time consuming.
Every other aspect of the game has been dubbed down and deluded,
to appeal the mass of causal gamers, why not the editor?

Just what someone wrote on social club, not confirmed. But when you think about it, if they are stopping people upload these images when other people have them, it is unfair. So that kind of points me toward that.

While I do agree 100% that it's sh*tty that they took out the ability to use custom SVG images, all it takes is some creativity. I made this with 100% R* Emblem Editor. It was a bitch. It was 300+ layers and over 12 hours of work. But I was god damned proud of it.

The emblem editor artist recently featured on the newswire would disagree with you. So would his entire crew, composed of emblem editor artists. For reference on what you can create with the editor, look at his work on the Shine Thugz emblem.

 

Not everyone's an artists. I just want to upload an image so I can get even a little bit close to "painting" my car with that custom emblem.

 

So now because I suck at using emblem editor my emblem has to look like sh*t? But of course there was the epidemic of C*cks on cars that it HAD to be removed. I mean every topic in here was "OMG LOOK AT ALL THE C*CKS ON CARS" or "I was offended by tits on this one guys shirt." I got SO sick of seeing THOSE topics. It drove me CRAZY. There was just so maaanny... Lol.../sarcasm

 

Remove the game breaking content and ignore the useless sh*t is what R* should be focused on in my opinion...

I agree, they should have made it to where you can upload an image, SKATE 2 and 3 had it what's the problems with companies nowadays copyright is not even a valid argument anymore when it comes to users uploading and using images on a site controlled by someone else

F*ck you. I'm not a graphic designer. It was just copy paste from the internet and didn't take very long. The point I was making was I can't do that with the creator. If you have better skills, suck my dick and make me a better emblem or stfu. Using a solid color was by choice. I prefer the simplistic look of solid letters instead of some tacky picture. BTW, paint doesn't have transparency, but a master like you must have known that already. You choice of vocabulary is what's terrible f*cken asshole.
