Old gtas, it wasn't possible. It was hope you don't flip over and blow up

Once San Andreas came out, this "air control" became standard in GTA. While it's kind of weird, it's pretty funny how we can stick a landing on our tires after doing barrel rolls and backflips. Lol

You could do it in IV and SA too. I'm pretty sure it's a carry-over from Midnight Club, where it was an actual game mechanic. Personally I don't mind it, but I do think it's a bit cheap that you can rock a car back onto its wheels when upside down.

What is a 'asshat'? I keep seeing this word and I know its a put-down. I know maybe its a cross between 'asshole' and another word?...

I'm not sure if it was in MC LA but it was in MC 3 as a standard feature and MC 2 via cheat codes. The feature worked better in MC, due to the cars handling being very unrealistic.

It was in MCLA, you just had to hold weight shift and move the stick.

Okay, relax. You got your answer already dude.

Who says I am not relaxed? I wasn't looking for an answer either. I was asking peoples thoughts. Some ahole "don't use it", post was not needed, but I did ask for it haha

I know why it's there. They took it out for GTA IV in the pursuit of 'realism' - along with being able to roll your car off its roof. Whilst I agree that removing the feature allowed for a more realistic driving experience, the practical impact (no pun intended) was that one bad turn could end your car.

They brought it back for GTA V for the simple fact that if we couldn't adjust while airborne or flip our cars back onto their wheels, we'd be losing our cars within minutes of taking them out. This would discourage us from using them or even being interested in them, and since cars are one of the biggest cash sinks in GTA Online R* doesn't want us ignoring them.

So we get some unrealistic aerodynamics - in return we get to keep our cars after some ah-whoo-ing great leap off a mountain top goes slightly off-plan. Personally, it think it's far more fun and far less frustrating this way.

Thanks for the legit response. They could have a respawn button though for ruff stuff? I just liked how you had to pay attention to what you are doing more. To each their own though.

The respawn idea would be abused by griefers though. Trip your car, respawn with temporary invincibility, easy kills.

I don't really care. Ok it's ridiculous but this is GTA.

If you don't like that feature, don't use it, it's very easy. Just don't touch any button while in air.

No sh1t? You don't say.....thanks for the worthless asshat post.

Wow someone needs a nipple to suck on..
Grumpy Much !!!! Lol..

Why don't you play Forza or Grand T if you want some thing more relistic.. Where does it say any where on the game that is ment to be based 100% relistic.. Oh it don't... Simples..

Well yeah. We like so that we don't crash when we land.

Why exactly would you prefer that we can't control the car?

EDIT: Basically we like it because we get to jump without consequence, as you have said yourself.

Problem is it's a bit too easy to control.

Same as that artificial rolling over when on your roof.

I have done plenty of races or just hit jumps and the ability to be able to control your car has not helped one little bit..
I like the feature, the game/races would suffer with out it.
It's not ment to be a full on race simulator !!

Again goes back to who enjoys the skill or who does not.

Having the inability to really control made for much more thought out process on how to take a jump vs in this game just taking it anyhow and still landing it.

Dunno if this was in other GTA games, but this really annoys me. Dunno why really. It just feels so stupid;

The fact you can move your car(or vehicle) while airborn. Perhaps you guys think it's fun or a nice feature? I just feel it to be unneeded and stupid. Your thoughts?

Granted the ability to control your car while in the air is unrealistic and could be conceived as stupid.........but so is the fact that we can hit another car head on at high speed and survive and keep on driving the same car ........or being able to take several gun shots to the upper torso and keep on fighting ..after my last game of survival my character had no less than 5 wounds to the upper chest and one well placed bullet hole in the forehead.....i never died.....i thought this brings a new meaning to being hard headed

Its a game if the programmers kept the physics of the game accurate to what was really capable ...a lot of people would never be able to get more than a block away from home or garage

Because, it's for this little foreign concept that I'd like to call, "fun." It is fun to be able to do a jump, and continue on your way afterwards. It is however NOT fun to flip your car, explode, re-spawn, steal a new car/ phone your mechanic for a new one, drive all the way back to the same ramp, take it, land upside down, crawl out, and make your way back a road for another car.

slippery slope

I don't like it. You really don't have to worry about hitting a jump right or anything because of it. The cars handle better than choppers in the air

You see, the thing that has changed, is that Americans have gotten so fat, that by the laws of conservation of angular momentum, they can actually substantially change the attitude of the vehicle while in zero G by shifting around the weight of their fat ass in the driver's seat. :colgate: So this is actually very realistic, in the last decade or so.

If for example i'm racing that beloved track Jumps Jumps Jumps and some-one clips my car just as i'm hitting a jump being able to control my car usually don't help out at lot at all, in fact sometimes it makes it worse..

As has been previously said much to the OP disgust so it would seem, you don't have to use it, just let the car fly free..

i like it...

the cars speed + being way lighter that they were in IV = you wont be able to make simple jump without landing on roof and dying.

if cars had more mass like in IV, that you could jump and gravity actually pushed down the car, id be piss at this feature but since cars in V turn into gliders the moment they get airborne, this is a necessary feature.

Yes, but most of us aren't doing a stunt when our car jumps.

It's mostly on evading someone and accidentally driving yourself off a high area. It's realistic if the two features aren't there, yeah, but it's also how people will get killed by relentless pursuers.

I think the in-air controls are overtuned. If they toned them down by about 50% then I think they'd be better.

I also hate the roll-over controls, because they aren't intuitive. I think the controls should be inversed, or that they should only be usable once your car is upside down and stationary.

The reason being, that in order to stop a car rolling in real life, you need to steer into a prospective roll in order to stay on four wheels, but in GTAV, steering into a roll cause you to actually roll that way, making a roll inevitable. If they simply inversed the roll-over controls, they'd be fine.

The flip mechanic is even more unrealistic to be honest I mean, a large flat truck lying on it's roof and suddenly it starts bouncing around and manages to flip over as if it was overtaken by alien gravity.

Remember how in GTA IV if you landed your car on it's roof and if you didn't act immediately it was done for? There were some exceptions where you could flip it at any time but those were rare.

That would have been a huge pain in V/O but I'm glad they considered making all cars flipable now.

A tip: When approaching a jump, take your finger off the gas because for some reason the car gets less spinny in the air when jumping off without acceleration.

In GTA 4 the only way to flip a car once it's on a stopped upside-down position was the have someone ram your car hard enough to flip it.

In GTA 5, nobody's gonna do that for you. It's more of block your view with their own car, and shoot you repeatedly with a pistol while mocking you over the mic.

Imagine trying to do races like jumps, jumps, jumps, with no air control D:

Nope. I hate that race. Dumb AF.

Well yeah. We like so that we don't crash when we land.

Not to say the game needs to be realistic......but c'mon. You don't have to have any driving skill and can just launch yourself in a silly manner. I have never played another game that you could do this in. I try to give it a chance or ignore it, but it just seems so silly. Would take skill to do some jumps and flips and such. Not just get speed and flip your joystick on a random direction and land.

Not trying to hate on those who like it. Just curious why. Perhaps I found my answer? It's easy?

You never played midnight club? Wow you just missed the best racing game of all time.

I wish people would post something useful instead of threads and threads of usless bitching. I guess I'm bitching about the bitching but at least I didn't start a new thread on it.

i agree with the fact that the control is way too sensitive. honestly id rather it not be there at all, i got along just fine without in III/VC/i dont remember if it was in SA or not but i dont think it was so ill say that game too.

I was reading this with an open mind. Until you typed this. Now I see you are a complainer with a bad attitude, who didn't intend to "discuss" anything, rather just argue your point and refuse any solution

I guess I'm not suprised

I am not complaining or "bitching". I just dislike something and was wondering others thoughts on it. I was only rude to one individual because of his ahole like deminer. I am perfectly aware I don't have to use it. Pointing out the obvious the way he did, will absolutely get a ahole like response.

I wasn't being an asshat, you are. I gave you a perfectly reasonable suggestion. If you don't like something, don't use it. Don't cry like a baby about something you can prevent.

No one is crying. You stating the obvious in the manner you did, was in fact asshatery.

I don't mind.

the ability to flip your car when it's upside down is kind of cheap, but it does help a lot in missions and whatnot

but if anything I'd say that has to go

don't really mind the air controls, as unrealistic and silly as they are, it's kind of cool to do perfect flips

Funny you say that. At first I was kinda on the fence about it. I have had fun with it though. However, being able to jump from rooftop to rooftop in my Infernus got kinda old and really seemed to be the point I felt like it was just overkill in the silly department.

Edit: Also, no one cares how cool your flips or jumps are. Anyone can do it pretty much. Like backflips. There is just no sense of accomplishment. At least in my opinion.
