What are your nightmares like?

I've been having violent nightmares for the past few (6 maybe?) months. I feel something trying to throw me about and shake me violently. Tries to kill me, in vicious ways. Makes me scared of it. I wake up with my heart racing, never sweaty though. It never occurs if the lights are left on when I go to sleep, though.

It happens often, maybe 4 times average in a week. One instance, this was a few weeks ago, I felt as if I was being violently spun in a vortex and I could feel it tearing my skin. Another one I had was last night, It was a dark shadowy figure walking into a bedroom, not mine, but I was sleeping there and I yelled out a name to make it stop trying to hurt me and it reacted seemingly.

Most of the nightmares happen when I first go to sleep. I try to wake up from the nightmare and do after a while. Then, I turn on the lights and go back to sleep, no more nightmare. The nightmare from last night was the only one that occurred very late in my dream.

What about you? What nightmares you've been having lately?

It's been a long time since I've had nightmares..

but they're usually about venomous animals trying to kill me, and sometimes falling from huge heights

Just like BMW I haven't had nightmares in a pretty long time.

When I am scared of something I usually don't sleep very well anyway though :p

Sounds to me like you're having sleep paralysis rather than just nightmares.

I too haven't had any nightmares in a long time, can't even remember the last time I had one.

I don't know. I normally forget them after I wake up. Last notable one was my entire town being abandoned and partially destroyed. I was walking around and came across a dead kid hanging on an old swingset by his neck from the swing chain. Freaked me out.

I don't really dream much, but one dream I had where a guy I went to school with asked me to punch him in the head when we were drunk and I accidentally killed him, so I went on the run, with his best friend trying to hunt me down. It wasn't really a nightmare per se, but it was f*cking strange.

Sometimes I get nightmares where I get murdered or executed. They're scary as f*ck because they're super realistic, or at least that's the feeling I get at the time. They're the few dreams I'm able to remember after I wake up and I often try to recreate those events when I get back to sleep but in an attempt to alter the events so that I survive. It's some serious movie sh*t going on in my head it feels like.

[...] falling from huge heights

It’s strange, I’ve heard that many people experience the same but I’ve never had it to date.

I think that my nightmares are basically distressing situations but in various kinds of situations (from more everyday situations to some more fantastic ones). So, unlike my childhood nightmares that, at least which I remind, were more related to the fear, my current ones would be more related to stressful situations with particular persons from my enviroment. And then waking up and having some temporary resentment or feeling against the person you've been dreaming with. May my mind be f*cked up? Do I need a vacation?

By other hand, though I wouldn’t consider nightmares, I've been having some weird dreams since I was a child, like trying to run without being able to move or just move very slow (like if I was sliping) while the sun blinds me.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

I get nightmares of falling, possible burglars or demons in my house whilst alone, or vicious arguing with loved ones.

Heights. It's almost always heights, along with some incredibly shaky platform that's built from rotting wood and shaking in the wind. It will eventually fall and so will I.

I had a nightmare about the muffin man fairly recently but I usually don't have them. I am a cock gobbler and I like to gobble cock.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

I love having nightmares. The feeling I get when I realize it's all just a dream, is the best thing ever.

At the time I can remember just a few.

-Sister dies (cancer)

-A white Lincoln Town Car stops next to me as I walk in the street then a black guy in a suit grabs me and throws me into the car.

-Me and lot of friends get kidnapped in a helicopter,

-Dad gets cancer (doesn't cook meth).

-There's a zombie apocalypse and I roam the city with my family.

After all of these nightmares, I can wake up and think: Life is Beautiful.

Can't say I have much in the way of nightmares. I love high paced, adventure dreams though.

I usually have the ones where a creepy guy you know is chasing after you and you're running but you're moving slower than molasses.

I've also had the kind where you wake up out of breath and sweaty. My friend's uncle decided to start drowning me in a hot tub, and when he let go, I flew up out of the water, and I woke up simultaneously, so I flew up out of my bed and couldn't breathe or anything. It was mad weird.

And then there are others where I'm perpetually stuck in the sky surrounded by flying shopping carts. Y'know, the usual.

And I've mentioned this like 5 billion times by now, but I had a dream where Kirsty tried to kill me. So yeah, sleep with one eye open, guys. She's vicious.

Theyre prety spokey. I like to call all my unsettling dreams nightmares, so not like being chased by a hacksaw-handed madman, but more like living at home with my dead mother, and having her be really angry and rude at/to me, or like watching my cute little pet kittens tear the spines out of lizards, that one happened last night.

But I like nightmares too. Any dream is nice because you get to experience an almost completely random world made up by yourself for yourself, and nightmares are some of the more interesting ones.

I don't have nightmares. I have dreams that scare me, but none so bad that I would consider them a nightmare. For instance, lately I've been having dreams of my teeth breaking/falling out. It's because a tooth of mine broke a few months ago while I was eating a bagel LOL. (I eat bagels all the time) but it was because I had a temporary filling in that tooth because of a root canal that STILL needs to be fixed. Anyway, since then I've had dreams that get progressively worse about that tooth breaking, breaking even more, and now to the point of it actually falling out and being pulled out. I really don't want that to happen. :( I heard dreams can mean something? I wonder if there's a reason for me to keep dreaming about this or if I literally am scared of that tooth breaking even more or falling out.

I don't really remember most of my nightmares, the one thing I know is that I wake up all freaked out because of how scary it was.

But my biggest fear is to get trapped in a confined space, I am not that type of person that likes really compact spaces, If I was buried alived then I would start screaming and kicking out of desesperation.

Teeth in dreams have so many internet articles, EphemeralStar, you could interpret your dreams to death! Sometimes it's just better to say, "Huh! What a weird dream!" Then go about your day, be productive.

The other day, I had a dream about broken eggs, or that I broke eggs or that someone broke eggs. I was upset about it when I woke up, but didn't let it ruin my day.

Think about this.

Being tied down and forced to listen to "When You're Gone" while Fat Bastard from Austin Power jacks you off.

Yeah, that's only one of my nightmares.

I am sorry your going through this I as well have nightmares that really and truly scare me not only being scary like a movie but when I wake up I can recall them in vivid detail the other night I had a nightmare so bad I was considering making an appointment with a psychologist I was really and truly scared.

I won't talk about that one I will talk about

this re-occuring dream I have

Where In The Dream a group of classmates (they may be friends I do not know) we are walking out of a side door after a collage class( at least I think it's a collage class because I along with other people are carrying our books that look like exam books. When we are walking out we are taking a lunch break, as everyone in the class including myself are heading iver to a Gazebo in a little grassy area. As i look up there are planes dove bombing everything the next thing I know everyone I know is in a "work camp" I won't use the other word for it. I don't know why I find it so terrifying

I found out the pain meds I am on cause nightmares

THE GHETTO SAMURAI

I don't really get nightmares but when they do I piss my bed in the middle of the night. I think like couple weeks ago I had one that literally made me sh*t my pants. It started off like a normal dream fantasying about my celebrity crush and we were on a date in downtown Vancouver and all went good until like this creepy af killing creature thing popped out of nowhere out on the streets. Luckily we were able to escape from it for the mean time and was able to get back to my apartment. I looked at the clock and it was 2:19 am and my celebrity crush was sleeping in my sisters room and I was sleeping in mine. But I took a good look around the room before passing out in my dream and as soon as I was going to sleep that f*cker busted through my door and came towards me. I saw its creepy white face with huge black eyes with red sh*t surrounding the eye. That thing came at me faster than Usain bolt at a 200m race and just devoured me. As that was happening I woke up and the creepy thing was that I woke up at 2:19 am and all the surroundings were the same as my dream. I was just sh*tting bricks at that moment and quickly grabbed my baseball bat under my bed. But nothing came and I was kinda relieved but not really. So I fell asleep again with my baseball bat so just incase that f*cker did busted through my door I'll be prepared.

Last thing that came close wasn't actually a nightmare. I just spent the night repeatedly having anxiety attacks. Couldn't get back to sleep - when I tried, the things I was worrying about would resurface in my mind, and the cycle would start over.

Usually, though, the worst nightmares involve the brutal slaughter of everyone around me. For a while, it was always aliens that were responsible for it, but now things have settled. It's usually when I'm extremely stressed or worried that these nightmares occur.

I also occasionally have nightmares about getting shot or stabbed - especially when I was a kid. When I was 4, there was some kind of fictional monster (I dubbed it 'Catfish') that would tear me apart.
