I thought the first part of the game was boring and nothing like the original.

It all felt way too linear.

Second part really picks up pace and the story and concept is pretty mindblowing.

I would play the original BioShock before, which is the greatest FPS ever made (IMO). Then play BioShock Infinite which has a great story, characters, setting, awesome graphics, but gameplay gets a bit repetitive after a while.

Well im only thinking of playing BioShock Infinite as it is free at the moment. I think I will play this first and if I like it then I can always go back and play the original BioShock.

 

Second question then. Do I need to play the original BioShock first to understand the Infinite story or is Infinites storyline seperate?

You don't have to play Bioshock 1 or 2 to understand Infinite.

Agreed. BioShock 2 was made by a different studio, so there is no connection between BioShock 2 and Infinite. Regarding the original BioShock and Infinite connection, there is no connection... until a certain part of the game. Although, you don't have to play the first BioShock in order to understand the scene. So, you are fine.

That's because it is fact, think about it, in Bioshock Infinite you aim, and shoot, the only difference is, you shoot some kind of magic spell instead of a bullet, sure you can grab world objects and throw them, but what's so original and innovative about that? Every spell in the game has been done before. Most spells literally might as well be guns...

Secondly, I don't even get why they would be guns, A crow shooting gun dosen't make sense, Neither does a spark shooting one...

And just because you don't understand the timeline dosen't make it a plot hole, Confusing, But a plot hole, it is not

 

And Yeah, You must play COD,

You said before that it's COD gameplay, You wouldn't know unless you played/play it....

(Also, Guns aren't replaced, You duel wield Vigors and guns basically)

It's funny because the crow vigor you mentioned is literally from a game called Diablo 2, plus you still don't seem to grasp the concept of the gameplay issue. I'm not saying crows are like guns, i'm saying the act of aiming and shooting, regardless of weather it's with magic or not, is no different in terms of gameplay to say, aiming and shooting a gun. I have no idea what you're on about with the timeline, and of course i know what COD is like, everyone knows what it's like, yes i've played it before, that in no way means i play it still or even play it regularly.

Shame also because i had huge hopes for the game, Infinite being the only Bioshock i ever played. Unfortunately it let me down.
