tch2296 Posted January 31, 2014 Share Posted January 31, 2014 I see bus, trolley cars, and trains coming and going constantly, but have never tried to use them, given the glut of cars available obviously. I use taxis all the time, 1.) for fast travel anywhere 2.) to learn the map and make cash doing it (I love being a cab driver it is very relaxing for me) 3.) sometimes if I need to go somewhere but want to catch up on the in-game news, stocks, or look at some funny websites, I'll grab a cab, turn off the Mexican radio,and just browse the internet. Sometimes if I'm going through a particularly interesting and/or dangerous part of San Andreas I'll just look out the window and take in the sights. I believe that really soaking it all in is what makes this game so good to begin with. So, can trains/buses, etc be used by the player? If so, is the experience and mechanics similar to the taxi? I believe that this was actually in the beta, given that there are buses with different colours, which probably means that they take different routes. Oh well, at least you can use the train. Wait, is it the train you can use or just the trolleys? It would be dope if you could take a high-speed train up to Blaine County for a nominal fee. Some nice sightseeing if not a quick fast travel up there. Where does the Metro go and is it underground? How do you find the stations if it is indeed underground? Perhaps a current gen limitation (find the "2405" house near mirror park and compare it in game to the trailer), i don't know. Taking the bus sounds like a cool idea, but thinking about it, although i wanted it in, would we really use it? I hate taking the bus irl, so why would i want to do it in game. having that ability might be cool though. It's a huge shame they didn't put in high-speed passenger trains. It'd be great taking a train from the very top of the map to LS - either watching or skipping it. It was cool in RDR. But worst of all is how they really messed up with the trains. The metro is so slow - it's quicker to run, i think, or at very least, steal a car. There's zero incentive to take the train. They were great in IV (the only improvement would be to be able to "skip" to your destination, rather than each station....), and i liked even having to transfer - IV gave me that real sense of immersion as a hitman or something. Taxis in V work great - i love the fact you have to tell the diver to STOP before getting out or else you'll get a WL (or if you're short on cash!) - took me months to figure that one out. Playing taxi driver's fun, but it gets old quickly, when you're picking up the same 3 people, and going to the same half-dozen destinations. Not a single person has asked me to take them to the beach or airport. Taking the bus sounds cool, but tbh i can think of better things that this game lacked, and if R* can't be bothered to add them, instead deciding to saturate their game to make it bigger, then there's no hope for a feature that would require extra lines of code/script and such. Whats the point of the game if you'll just go on a forum to ask if you can do something or not when its just as easy, and more fun, to try it yourself. Try this: Go to Paleto Bay (make sure you are well tooled up with ammo & armour)) Go to the train tracks behind the Chicken Factory, wait near the woods for a train (don't go in the woods in case you get ate by a lion) As the train passes jump onto a low wagon. Take pot shots at cars, tractors and then police cars with an RPG til you get 3/4 stars Now the choppers come. Use 'duck and fire' to take out the choppers with a MG, you will soon get 5 stars. You can ride down to LS taking out police and noose as you go You get to have a rest in the tunnel under Mirror Park before you crack on with some urban destruction.....! Quality entertainment! I've been using the train constantly and gone around the map dozens of times within 2 hours 7 minutes as my best 5 star wanted time. It's even longer if you count time from getting one star and on up to 4 and then 5 stars. It's insane how long you can last doing this, it's effortless really, as long as you can crouch in time if you're taking on too much fire. My favorite guns are the Combat MG, MG, AP Pistol, Advanced Rifle, and Minigun. It sucks, though, that the Minigun doesn't allow you to crouch. I like the Combat MG the most out of everything though. The only reason I went only 2 hours and 7 minutes is because the stars eventually randomly disappear. A good way to KEEP the stars on you, when you go into a long tunnel, pull out the Minigun OR Combat MG (only seems to work with these two guns) and shoot at the train car, the stars will go solid again. It also only works like that on 5 stars and those two guns, only. No idea why, but yeah, I do that so the stars don't disappear and can go as long as it allows me to. I also run out of Combat MG and nearly all my Advanced Rifle rounds, too. It's so fun, though, can't get enough of it. Before that I used to like to use my Lazer or Police Riot for 5 star rampages. I agree that it would have been interesting, but then, not all that different than a taxi (other than having to get off at designated stops). And here I'd just been firing rockets at cars on the freeway before hiding in the unfinished subway tunnel to evade the subsequent wanted level ...
