Why is the Tank So Weak?

-----------So I don't know how many times I raided the military base to try and steal the helicopter, a tank, a jet and the AC 130, I was successful in stealing the Jet ( the easiest), and then for a period of time for some reason no tanks were spawning and during that period i was able to steal a AC-130. but then when i went back to try and get what i wanted most ( the helicopter) the tanks were back, and anti-air missiles that I'm still not sure where they are shooting from, is it other helicopters?

 

----Anyways when i first started raiding the base I took the copter twice and got away, but from being hit by bullets my helicopter once eventually caught fire and crashed, and the second time i was going so slow from being damaged i couldn't shake the helicopters chasing me and ran out of gas or something.

 

--------But now no matter what i do, right when i get in the helicopter i can't go 10 seconds no matter what i do without being hit be a AA missile. WHy? What changed? I don't get it? luckily in the last 3 days i finished the game, did the assassination missions and got around 400 million per character ( i stupidly did the third lester assassination mission which gives you 300% return, so dumb, but 400 million is plenty).

 

--------So after watching a video online of someone busting into the base i saw him destroying with a tank at the base, so after buying a tank ( because stealing one was impossible, I don't know how anyone could, they drive e away if you drive your car right next to it and get out then blast you) I decided to come back to get revenge, well i can't believe how little the tanks can take. They are so weak. They should almost be invisible. Bullets from people are hurting the tank, bullets?

 

 

I just don't like at all how the game makers took any sort of way to say steal that helicopter i wanted so bad and made it not possible. thats why we love this game, the freedom. So many old tricks were fixed by the time a youtube video was made on how to do it. Im surprised the LEster assassination investment thing still works! but thats after the games over, so whats the point in having 2 billion if the games over with?

Seriously what the heck? My tank catches on fire from fighting at the bases front entrance. Its so stupid. None of the three tanks that meet me at the gate are even hitting me, its the cars shooting at men think doing the damage. They should make it so you can make the armor better on the tank. The tank in the last GTA, it wasn't even a tank like this one, it was a personal carrier and it kicked butt and the game had big time troubles taking it down, i spent hours driving that thing around just destroying everything. NOw we get a full blown real tank and i can't stay alive for 3 minutes on the base?

People probably aren't replying because we've had multiple topics like this ever since the game released. I've already gotten over it, but I understand where you're coming from. I never wanted an invincible tank or a tank that makes cars explode on impact, and many GTA fans felt the same way, but I think R* went a bit too far with GTA V. Maybe it's more realistic, because I don't know much about tanks, but it's just weird how much safer I feel in a car than the tank.

People probably aren't replying because we've had multiple topics like this ever since the game released. I've already gotten over it, but I understand where you're coming from. I never wanted an invincible tank or a tank that makes cars explode on impact, and many GTA fans felt the same way, but I think R* went a bit too far with GTA V. Maybe it's more realistic, because I don't know much about tanks, but it's just weird how much safer I feel in a car than the tank.

See the thing is its not realistic, bullets are hurting the tank, in real life bullets don't hurt tanks, at all, they bounce off and the drivers don't even know they are being hit by them. unless its some automatic 50 cal or something. I just wanna steal another AC-130 and I'm having huge problems doing so, I just got one off the ground by using a super fast car with Franklin using his powers to get to the AC-130 ASAP, but again, this didn't happen before, now whenever i take off at the base there are planes shooting at me like crazy, this wasn't like chart a week ago. Its impossible almost to steal any aircraft from there, or anything really.

lol I got a AC-130, got it all the way to the airport, luckily saved it when i was coming in for a landing, when i was taxing it in to pull into the hangar that Franklin owns ( he better be able to save it there!) a 747 wing that was taking off clipped me and blew me up. so glad i OCD save. I had over 1500 saves in fallout 3. 1500!!

From my experiences it takes a lot of bullets before the tank even begins to smoke. But if you're running over vehicles as you're driving your tank, those explosions will make your run with it much shorter.

 

Did they fix how the Titan spawns in your hangar? Because if they didn't, part of its wing is going to stick into the hangar's wall and the whole thing is going to blow up on you when you try to get in it. That's the reason I never bothered going after that aircraft. I hope they patched that nonsense.

 

Also I'm not sure what helicopter you were referring to, but if it's the Buzzard, you can easily take one that spawns on the roof of the N.O.O.S.E. HQ. You get no wanted level for it, and no one attacks you there. It's the same version as the one at Fort Zancudo, weapons and all.

Wish i knew about the Buzzard location there before ! but oh well and if by Titan you mean the big military plane with 4 propellers , that looks like a AC-130 that is the one i stole, then parked in Franklins garage, then when i took a smaller plane from nearby and flew away and then back to see if it was still there, an explosion happened out of nowhere, I'm guessing what you are referring to. How can they not let keep a stolen " Titan" come on. I also stole a streamlined black small jet that you can buy but i stoles and put it in michaels garage, hope its still there. but the AC-130 i want way more. I love they added planes. I wanted them so bad in the last one, and that mission you fly one into a huge plane is one of the best missions in the whole game.

Titan stores on Trevor's HELIPAD with a Save Editor. Me and a couple other people have this stored. Pictures were posted in Pimp My Whip a few pages back.

 

 

@Op, maybe try stealing the Buzzard Attack Chopper from NOOSE HQ? You get NO wanted stars from going there and can steal and store it with ease.

 

Yeah the Tank sucks, and as others said, there is like 10 topics about this same thing and a Poll about it as well.

I rarely use the tank. If I do, I take it up to the mountains in view of roads and blow choppers and police cars up. I lasted a full new record of 1 hour and 4 minutes at 5 stars. Anyway, that said, I still think the tank is very weak. Toss a few sticky bombs a bang. I much prefer flying the Lazer around.

I usually just camp out in under the hanger away from helicopters and blow up any cop cars that spawn in front of me, also lasting a few minutes over an hour. That is when it gets boring. If you take out the tank from the hanger in the airport WITHOUT even running over cop cars to cause them to explode, the tank will STILL turn to sh*t and blow up within 20-25 minutes. It's pretty worthless compared to GTA III and Vice City Tank. V's Tank is the worst in the entire series by far.

 

I also rather use the Lazer. I've gone 1 hour 16 minutes on a 5 star in the Lazer. A good hour in the Police Riot I have stored, and also 2 hours 7 minutes on the Train Flatbed Car, there is much better choices for 5 star rampages than the sh*tty Buzzard Attack Chopper and the Tank. I'd use the Train, Lazer, and Police Riot anyday over the Tank and Attack Chopper.

This. Bullets in GTA V do f*ck your tank up. It's a fact. I showed someone who does not play video games and knows about military tanks in real life, and he just laughed when I showed him the Rhino Tank and how horrible it was. His only reply to me was: "Somebody doesn't know what they are doing at Rockstar." LOL, implying, tanks are not supposed to be effected AT ALL with cars running into the back of you and/or bullets from weapons. ONLY explosions MAY cause small damage, but even that, the tank shouldn't blow up in a VIDEO GAME especially. GTA III and Vice City Tank took hours until it caught fire and exploded. San Andreas Tank is where it started to decline and get weak, and V is the absolute worst tank to date, it's worthless.
