Rooftop Sniping - a Guide

Recommended Posts

raspykestrel1

Sniping takes more skill than a tank. When I get sniped I look at who sniped me find there location then go off the radar and take them out. If you continue to get back in a vehicle after being sniped you are a moron.

First rule of sniping that no one seems to follow - Shoot and move.

I fly a chopper to a good spot, take my shot, confirm kill, get in the chopper and dust out of there.

Fly to another spot and repeat.

Rarely will I stay on one rooftop for more than one kill, if I do it's because A.)there are a lot of players grouped up and B.) the roof is large enough to afford a secondary position that blocks return fire from the freshly spawned player whose face I just drilled a hole thru. I confirm this by moving position and checking map for spawn location of said player.

Gotta disagree with this one.

Of course, it depends on the rooftop you're on - some are very vulnerable to return fire. But most of the ones i've highlighted are virtually untouchable, so long as you're careful. I've spent a couple of hours, and racked up literally dozens of kills on some of these, especially the blue and red buildings on the northern map.

there are some, especially if you're choosing rooftops more quickly, for convenience, that you'd wanna get off in a hurry, i suppose it depends on your style of play

This is why we dont have nice things. morons like OP here give out tips and guides to doing chit that makes people rage and so they report and cry about to get i nerfed(see: ex tank sniping)

Some dumb motherphucker made a thread like this on how to tank snipe and what do you know it nerfed. while tons of other glitches and exploits remain in play.

logic not even once

I absolutely agree with you.

Neither Rockstar, nor the gaming community as a whole, had any idea that it was possible to use your weapons at higher altitude - i discovered this ALL BY MYSELF, and no-one knew until *I* posted this thread!!

Rockstar have nothing better to do than to read these forums to find out what their game designers missed herpaderpadeeeerrrrrrrp kthnxbai

Had a guy last week tell me that the sniper rifles were put in the game "for missions only, not free roam." Of course, this was after several rooftop snipes and his failed attempts to get me or to the roof with a helicopter.

Good guide, my friend. I generally try to use the highest buildings, so A.) I don't get sniped off myself & B.) I feel less cheap with I snipe people out of cars from FAR distances.

So what does everyone think about Sniping on next gen? Draw distances are great for us, but they also mean there is more chance of getting picked off by someone on a distant rooftop that you haven't noticed.

also, is anyone lse having a problem with helicopters at long distances, where when you zoom in fully, they disappear from view? They render fine in normal view, until you zoom :/

Shoot/kill and move is best but if you know all the vulnerable approaches and tactics for your position its fun to see how long you can keep repelling sniper hunters . Most fun is when they approach by helicopter or parachute while off radar !

Not worried about tanks. Most are so stupid they'll follow you right into a mind field of stickys and ::poof:: no more tank.

As for sniping if you need a guide. You're doing it wrong.

Then presumably the guide will help you to do it right.
