A quite small find, i was browsing through some old pages of this forum and somebody showed files of some sort of website or companion app (not the chop one) and there also was a link to it's assets, hosted by Ash

What nobody talked about though, there's a map icon called radar_mount which shows, well, a mountain as expected, this blip doesn't exist in normal game files, this one's also 24x24 but has current-gen style (map icons come with 64x64 resolution too)

radar_mount.png

Wasn't there some pre-release rumor or a web article saying that GTA V will have mountain climbing activity? What if this blip was for it? (Ofcourse this one is remastered version, but as we know even cut weapons got their icons remastered by artists)

There also was radar_custompoi which looks pretty similar to already existing point of interest blip but with it's inside filled

radar_custompoi.png

Final one is like this

radar_poi.png

Recreation

radar_poi.png

There's also player.png which looks like this, pretty out of place i guess

player.png

what thread?

I don't think it's been discovered but Brucie Kibbutz has actual voice lines for Social Networking mission alongside the girl that was supposed to be his company

\x64\audio\sfx\SS_FF.rpf\fb2.awc
He sounds a little bit different though, possibly the people who designed the mission told him to act calmer which would make sense mission lore wise, or he had a different yet similiar voice actor for this mission, he really does sound like OG actor sometimes though, so i guess it's just up to interpretation

Little extra info - Wildbrick found out that these voice lines are still assigned to proper voice actors, meaning that you could play them ingame with use of "BRUCIE" as the character that's supposed to speak, and "HOOKERCAR1B" for the Girl, he also found out that the cut multiplayer heists character (who voiced awc's like cb.awc) is not a cut character but actually beta Agent14's voice, and IMO that would really match the old model with blonde hair which is shown on unused phone icon, so big thanks to him

do you still have these like a link or a youtube video , i cant find them for some odd reason

Does anyone still have some AWC files that got leaked with the Beta build back in 2018? I guess they were named something like 688.awc, perhaps the dudes shared them with someone (not the MP3 sample files though). DM me if you have them or any info regarding ^_^

Also just come across this, Same folder just a different file, anyhow...

As we know (im linking this too BETA GTAO because its in the same folder and may have a link) in BETA GTAO you had the option to be a criminal, and in BETA GTAO you also had activities like Drug Deals etc, and ive just found these icons which im guessing are Start Map & Mini Map Icons:

http://i.imgur.com/JBTgF86.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/tBxZnUe.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/fe5ljEr.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/rQucqOJ.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/YL0gPvo.png

All of these with the tag of "SpecItem" for "Special Item" possibly for freeroam related activities & random events such as Smuggler Planes and Targets through Lester, only this time it might be a Gang Activity, Drug Deal or Something similar to that, and you could go to the destination to pick up the coke for example, or steal the weed or protect the meth lab from rivals. These are just made up scenarios of course, but the icons are here, and it could suggest that we had more interaction in freeroam GTAO, and therefore as Police (if you chose to be a cop for BETA GTAO) You could then respond to several callouts involving the gang related activities across San Andreas etc.

Here are the File Names:

mp_specitem_cash : http://i.imgur.com/JBTgF86.png

mp_specitem_coke : http://i.imgur.com/tBxZnUe.png

mp_specitem_heroin : http://i.imgur.com/fe5ljEr.png

mp_specitem_meth : http://i.imgur.com/rQucqOJ.png

mp_specitem_weed : http://i.imgur.com/YL0gPvo.png

As you can also see the name tags begin with "MP" Definite proof that these icons were intended for use within Multiplayer Mode, In this case, GTA Online.

Well, to be fair

  • He did credit people who found the stuff here. His older videos just mention "the guys at GTAForums" but this one and other recent ones specifically mention the name of who found it. Other Youtubers don't give credit at all - some even go as far as claiming they found it themselves!
  • He doesn't have an annoying voice. Seriously, I actually can stand listening to him for the entire video, other youtubers not so much.

Anyway, finds:
Sprunk Buffalo, Pisswasser Dominator, Redwood Gauntlet and Burger Shot Stallion were purchasable from Southern San Andreas Super Autos.

Also an ordinary Mesa was planned for Warstock Cache & Carry. No idea if they got confused with the Merryweather Mesa or if they actually planned it. Website files past Ill-Gotten Gains don't have the above script anymore so I can't check if it was there. Heist Update files have no ordinary Mesa.

Some 2015 discoveries which ended up being in GTA Online. It's crazy how they reused lots of beta files for Online...

By the way, are there any ways to open thread's old tinypic images? They all seem to be gone now, unfortunately.

I suppose it makes sense to you know, utilise assets you already have on hand so in that respect it's hardly a surprise, but it's interesting to see unused content discovered years prior getting sprinkled into GTA Online updates over time.

Anywho, regarding the tinypic images I don't believe you'll be able to see them. I've never used that service before but I suspect that the links are all broken because the source files are no longer being hosted so they're pretty much lost to time now.

So since its been quite for few days, here is a find that everyone overlooked. It's possibly a beta car, and even tho everyone here seen those screenshots, nobody seems to notice. Look at the left side of the picture:

unknown.png

Winky!

...or just Jeep Willys...

That's the thing, I'm not really sure. Winky already looks like 1:1 Willys, tho we do know that Winky was meant to appear back in PS3/X360 versions, but that's about it. The image is sadly low quality and its hard to really know for sure.

Also, since we are on topic of this picture, I might be crazy but this:

unknown.png

Looks strikingly similar to this:

unknown.png

Might be a just coincidence, but who f*ckin' knows at this point in time

It's a paintover, artist is given a render of the image and he's supposed to fill the place with image editing as a reference for another developer to make the area more detailed, although most of these props are not in final game, i think they're still outside paleto bay ammunation so it would be a nice mod to make some day

It's kind of a step after the greyboxing stage. You have the shapes or the main environment bits defined but then you need the details. The details are often drawn into a picture of the game, or a render, or concept art, so the environment artist (in this case) can actually get to work on putting the real thing in the game. It really is a whole process to make an environment come to life in a game, not just looking at it in an editor and plopping down props/vegetation/etc randomly. :)

Give your local concept artist and 2D people some well-deserved love, along to your local environment artists :yee:

I just remembered the 2016 leaked beta UI screenshots and damn, after all these years & discoveries, it's pretty interesting to discuss them.

Spoiler

xuK8Z8E.gif

This screenshot is pretty interesting. Knowing CnC was abandoned somewhere in late 2012-early 2013 (judging by builds.xml file), this makes me think the screens were made somewhere from Fall of 2012 to Summer of 2013.
For some reason, it still uses GTA4ish radar, though we know (thanks to Jonathan Gwyn & builds.xml) that they had square radar since 2011 already! But it uses post-2011 and probably pre-2013 map layout. And the cars are STILL labeled in different colours, just like in some Bradygames guide screenshots, which were presumably made in late spring/early summer of 2013. Nothing interesting here anymore.

Spoiler

https://i.imgur.com/JqZY6EN.gif

The screenshot is almost similar to game's final look: it uses white font for car names & classes for now, it has square radar, almost finished icons for radio stations and sectioned (divided by sections, I meant) stats on the left for Franklin (which strangely enough uses a scrapped phone icon). This screenshot made me realize they had at least two versions of UI, I'll explain it right now.

Spoiler

https://i.imgur.com/PGr2iOY.gifhttps://i.imgur.com/xdrB7N5.gif

Now, this is where it all gets interesting. The buttons interface (in below) on first one is the final version (has less transparency, kinda blackish and uses Capital Letters For First Letters Only), while second screenshot is the one which was shown in Bradygames guide & gameplay trailer. It has more transparency, it's greyish and USES CAPS FOR ALL WORDS. I've heard that Polish localisation has some game's beta leftovers (Tug's description was there since 2013, long before the thing was released in 2016). And the thing is, Polish still uses CAPS for the buttons. So... Was that an older UI devs used before ~ July 2013? Who knows.

Spoiler

https://i.imgur.com/fMDym49.gif

Undivided stats menu, just like in gameplay trailer. And GTA4's unused wanted icon, too. It's good to know they still remember their cut stuff.

Spoiler

https://i.imgur.com/SVri2Em.gif

Probably the most interesting one. Not only it has CnC areas labeled, but it also has a mixed UI. You see, it has PS3/X360-ish borders but PS4/XOne/PC's style of buttons (a.k.a sliders, which are HOME, PLAYERS etc). Now, I really wonder what was their original idea of menu's look. How did it look? Like on PS4/XOne or PS3/X360? This kinda lets me understand their weird decisions on UI changes in first remaster.

By the way, apparently Rockstar forgot to update UI for LSGC [it's been 7 and half years tho!], so it has the same exact look as on screenshot above.

Speaking of old stuff, anyone remembers that unused GTAO logo?

Spoiler

https://www.rockstargames.com/V/img/global/info/online/bg.jpg

Just realized Carson's build had original layout of that logo:

Spoiler

https://i.imgur.com/msAlM4L.png

He hasn't, however, mentioned the creation date of that logo.
BUT.
The unused logo (with unreleased green bikers art) has the "GTA_Online_05-03-13-Mikhail6" string in EXIF-tags. The thing says it all.

I was browsing through heists update files and i looked inside the apartment files, i found this 2048x2048 texture:

km_hei_clothing_01_d.png

Shows a cut variation of Franklin's shirt and two cut GTA Online T-Shirts, presumably "Two-Tone Striped T-Shirt" and "Make Your Mark T-Shirt" (without decals), best part is that the texture is 2048x2048 so it's possible to extract these shirts and have them in good quality!

Although the GTA Online ones are a bit compressed, very easy to recreate them though.

Franklin's shirt also reminds me of this artwork, maybe it's not a coincidence:

Hey, im

posting this from my phone, but I have some files on my PC i can upload later, I’ve been doing some beta hunting and I’ve found the following stuff.

Prologue has some unused objectives “Take cover behind the cop car”, “Wait for Michael/Trevor/Brad”, Michael’s line “Slow and steady, T, Slow and steady” was originally “Nice and easy, T, nice and easy.” Michael also has an unused voice line “We use the cop cars as cover, then make a play for our car.” There is also evidence to suggest that the derailed escape was reused from a scrapped prologue escape, as there’s code for Trevor hanging out the car window shooting, whilst the player controls him.

Fresh Meat is the one I have the most stuff for. Unused objectives include getting Michael’s confiscated weapons back like in Dead Man Walking, pressing right on the D pad to stand up, going into Michael’s house, and a lot more. Michael and Franklin have lines referring to getting Michael’s weapons back, as well as a canon of some sort. Michael would also comment on Franklin’s gun saying stuff like “You’l blow my feet off, put the shotgun away!” And “Not the shotty, you’ll kill me!” Suggesting the player could accidentally harm Michael the same way they can Amanda and Tracey in Meltdown.

The Merryweather Heist (freighter) has an unused objective for Franklin to regroup with Michael and Trevor.

Bureau Raid (firecrew) was interesting. There’s stuff to suggest Trevor was involved, only backed by evidence others have found. The lines from Lester indicate Franklin, Trevor, and the gumnen would try to protect Michael’s cover and find a way out whilst Michael splits from them to erase the bureau’s intel on them. There’s also images for hiring Michael, Trevor, Franklin, and Lester as heist crewmen, possibly meaning Franklin’s involvement in the Jewel Store Heist was optional.

Calling for backup remains unused, if the player had a wanted level there’s a tutorial to call either Michael, Trevor, Franklin, or Lamar for backup, there’s even lines of Franklin calling Michael, saying he and Lamar need backup. Once the character(s) you called for backup arrived, you could switch between them like in missions (except Lamar).

Lamar Down has an unused feature, the game instructed the player originally to call your friends for backup, more text saying to choose who to call, possibly meaning the player could do it alone as Franklin, as Franklin and Trevor, as Franklin and Michael, or with all 3 characters.

Dialogue for Tracey as a friend to hang out with for Michael remains unused. Also dialogue for ordering food at a restaurant, as Michael, Trevor, Franklin, Lamar, Amanda, Jimmy, and Tracey all have lines for ordering food. Also, playing pool has some code in the game.

Well, that’s it for now, I’ll post more when I discover more.

I was looking thru Bury The Hatchet's audio, here's an unused conversation
Unknown: Unidentified aircraft, please state your bearing.
Trevor: I'm heading into the hot center of hell!
Unknown: I'm sorry I didn't get that, please repeat.
Trevor: My world was just turned upside-f*cking-down, you don't care about me, nobody cares about me, not Michael, not my Mom, not f*cking anyone, f*ck you all!

I've found something else, on missions there's dialogue for AI controlled Michael, Trevor, Franklin, Lamar, Dave, Steve, Wade, Ron, and Stretch actually spotting enemies not visible on the radar. Does this mean originally you'd only have an enemy on the radar if you could see them, or an ally pointed them out?

Heres some unused text strings I've found
1. Email response EM_RESPONSE = Pick a response
2. Dancing text 0xBE8F5D54 = Tap the buttom prompts in time with the beat. The more in time with the music you are unlocks additional dance moves.

3. Michael special tutorial in father/son 0xEE4BB820 = ~s~Michael has a special ability. Press ~n~~INPUT_SPECIAL_ABILITY~ + ~INPUT_SPECIAL_ABILITY_SECONDARY~ together to enhance Michael's shooting.

also, I FOUND THE VIDEO (Loving the Bury The Hatchet alts, it's my favorite mission due to Ned and Steven's acting), also to further back my claims that the Prologue getaway was meant to be like the Derailed escape, there's separate audio files, which is the escape cutscene for Prologue recorded word for word, but instead as separate audio files to play during gameplay
