Why would cut spzombies assets be packaged with Arena Wars? I feel like that was an accident unless they intend on using those assets in the near future. How many different buildings are there that have been 'zombified' so to speak? 

 

A few things to point out about those unused sp_zombie assets.

 

- The e-cola logo instead reads as Ebola. Probably just Rockstar doing their usual play on words by referencing real world events.

 

- The RON gas company logo is modified to spell out WRONG. Perhaps this DLC would have had something to do with a zombie outbreak occurring due to an event caused by RON? Possible chemical spill? Seems to be a consistent theme on two of the buildings shown.

 

- Another gas company, Xero, placed on a sign being held by what I assume to be an anarchist, is shown in the third photo just above another protest graffiti of the RON gas company. It could just be anarchistic behavior from people, or it could be similar to what I speculated just above this.

 

Can these assets be loaded into the game? It would be interesting to see how they would have appeared in game. Makes me wonder how far Rockstar got before scrapping the DLC entirely. I wouldn't be surprised if they have complete zombie character models and animations stowed away on some developers hard drive.

 

With the amount of cut content being repurposed for online, it would not at all surprise me if we see a zombie survival game mode pop up in online at some point. Arena Wars ramped up the craziness factor by quite a bit. Nothing seems to be off limits at this point.

They're made for arena and some are already used, though im thinking that the dlc was related to someone named "Norman" as the oldgen files had a script for zombies dlc named sp_norman_activation

Wouldn't it make more sense that they would have made more UFO dlc than zombie given that was the (supposed) purpose of the chillad mystery

Yep. Didn't it say in the design documents that the Zombie DLC was exclusive to the PS4 and Xbox One versions?

Sorry for the stupid question, but what exactly would the cutscene tool be "tuning"? Lights or cameras or something else?

So codewalker can open audio config files and it turns out that there are more leftover vehicle sound data.

 

First off, uninteresting, possibly placeholder stuff
Land vehicles:

  • "entityxfpchi"(?) - Shares police scanner data with Entity XF. Either a backup or replacement mission-only config (eg. "bjxl_armenian_3" or "stretch_michael_4")
  • caddy_backup - Shares police scanner data with caddy2. Probably a backup of the config data.
  • caddy2_backup -  Shares police scanner data with caddy. Probably a backup of the config data.
  • surge_backup - Shares police scanner data with Surge. Probably a backup of the config data.

Helicopters:

  • frogger2_old
  • cargobob3_old
  • cargobob2_old
  • buzzard_old

I believe these are just old configs for those helicopters as the names imply.

 

 

Now actually cut stuff.
Land vehicles:

  • eod
  • stockade2
  • digger
  • serrano2
  • squaddie
  • speedo3
  • fbiold - Seeing the heli configs, I feel like this is more of an "old data left behind" that i should have left in the above section, but this thing also has leftover siren data and handling data, and seeing the North Yankton police car names who says it couldn't have been a part of the Prologue or something?

Planes:

  • jet2
  • shamal3old
  • shamal3

Well that's really interesting.

 

Bicycles (yes):

  • ccx

Trailers:

  • trailer

 

And some unknowns I couldn't crack yet. Could be literally anything.

you can see graphs of gta iv and hud would also be missing there some building in that place as it happens in 2010-2011 I think.

The final version of V's map has cherryblossoms (jacarandas?) planted betwen the IAA/FIB buildings:

If the screenshot was showing a simple map port instead of an early version of the game, the trees should be there.

I’m sure early 2009/2010 Rockstar was using the same engine as GTA 4 while building GTA 5, that’s why some in-game commercials in GTA 5 have identical visuals from GTA4.
