The GTA V beta hunt

It was really interesting to find out that GTA V was supposed to be a good game and not that sh*t that we have today in the final release. The cut mission cutscene dialogs were really impressive (good voice acting and longer cutscenes)

Speaking of longer cutscenes, I keep thinking that missions like Did Somebody Say Yoga? feels more like an extended and interactive cutscene rather than a normal GTA mission. Maybe it was intended that way in the beta?

To answer that question, it's how they've always worked. I think the most stuff they shared about how they made a game was with GTA 3 and even then, they did this stuff 10 years after the fact to commemorate it. Even a couple of years after Vice City came out, Rockstar North showcased some of the technical stuff of it on their website.

 

 

 

So maybe when V's development cycle is done and over with they'll share some stuff to commemorate it? Probably not now though since it's still going on.

Considering the game is still in development with all these updates, they're not going to show you what you could've had, are they? They're probably more likely to release it as dlc and pretend it never happened. I can't imagine they'll ever open up to cut content if that doesn't happen, they never did before (well, except III for obvious reasons, and SA because it became a big story.)

His friend found a dev kit with some GTA V builds in it. He proved it with previously unreleased audio files (such as beta Did somebody say yoga dialogue) etc. He put some of this stuff in a video which I saved (IDK if he still has it on his YT Channel).

Is it worth it to out them? Yes they shared the file publicly without asking but they shared it using my dropbox links, something I should've been more vigilant with (though to be fair I've never had anyone leak anything from me before). I'm annoyed, they know they did a sh*tty thing, only now it's lead to something much bigger. Outing them won't fix the issue, it'll just cause this thread to become filled with hate and anger but in the end, we've still lost this, Carson and his friend have lost all their money invested in this, etc.

 

And to the above, donating won't mean jack if it's not for sale or in this case, Take-Two have already taken it back and demanded that all assets and files be destroyed or else they'll ruin Carson and his friends lives with court debt. The C&D has already happened, they were both tracked down by PI's and threatened with extreme legal action for even touching this devkit from Rockstar North.

 

I just hope those who shared the files publicly outside of this community just reflect on how much sh*t they've caused just to get reddit upvotes.

Wait, WHAT!? Jesus Christ that build must have had the nuclear codes in it. Why are they so..... I can't even say it. This is such a sad situation. I guess they don't want us to know how good the game WAS and even the slimmest possibility of some voice recordings for any of the story dlcs being present. Yeah, the sadder thing is the cut contact outright, Carson has removed me from his chat list because I believe he's took Take-Two's bait on threatening people to keep quiet about this. Fact is that is just a bully tactic, legally you CAN speak about C&D's, Take-Two just threaten people not to do so because they don't want the negative media attention on them, fact is if we never spoke up about OpenIV we'd still be banned from modding Single Player to this day. Anyone out there who gets a C&D from Take-Two along with threats to keep quiet about it, don't fall for it, unless you've signed an NDA contract from them and have it verified and stamped legally, Take-Two can't do anything to you for simply TALKING about getting a C&D.

 

Carson if you're reading this, it's been nice talking to you, etc, but don't get too worried about that threat, they've used that threat multiple times in this community and as long as we kick back on what's actually legal then they can not touch you for that. They threatened FiveM to stay quiet, they threatened OpenIV to stay quiet, etc, all they're doing here is saving themselves from negative press because they know their actions are bully tactics, they know they're going about this wrong but they want to control the situation, they want to threaten people but appear as the good guy, and once those actions are shown in public they heel turn. That's what this is about. FiveM and OpenIV are still around today because we took it to the media, we shouted about it, we complained it, we didn't stay quiet and they were forced to back down.

How the hell was Carson and his friend tracked down anyways? These dev kits are usually thrown out to be destroyed and it's not even working. They will get away with it because NOBODY seems to care enough to call them out for doing this because unlike the Machinima and modding community, people who actually care for the single player are trumped by those who care about GTA Online and thus THEY are the true customers here. I feel like everything they do is to purely screw over fans of single player. First not adding cars and weapons, then blacklisting them so they dissappear if spawned in Single player then the whole OpenIV/Modding situation (including FiveM which is a threat to gta online) THEN patch each and EVERY way to get online exclusive cars prior to the blacklist and now this? An insight into juicy stuff cut from said single player? . They just hate us "freeloaders" I feel. Seriously how much harm can this do to know what the game was like during development? It's been out for nearly FIVE YEARS with practically NO single player support so what else should we do if not play gta online? What's next, a GPS in every dev kit?

Take-Two is insisting here that they're reclaiming their property. They also stated that making files from the dev builds public will hinder and harm the sales of Grand Theft Auto V (a game which hasn't left the top 10 sales list for 5 years and is one of the all time best selling games). They encouraged Carson and his friend to hand over THEIR equipment (computers, etc) so that the files and any copies on their drives can be destroyed, so they took back the devkit and then said any copies should be destroyed and anyone that has copies should be notified to delete the files or else.

 

They tracked down Carson and his friend the same way they got to FiveM, they hired Private Investigators to follow these people around in their daily lives, find our where they live, work, etc, before getting in contact with them in person and serving them the legal documents from Take-Two along with a cell phone which has Take-Two's legal department on the other end. (Hi Gena) This is a tactic they've used for years, really dirty method of doing things, but that's how they operate.

This is why instead of holding it to yourself you should've dumped it on the internet asap...

Tbh I'm terribly disappointed. This is bigger blow for me than closing of the OpenIV or FiveM, because even if they fall someone would create replacement sooner or later. This on the another hand was a chance 1: million to get access to the Holy Grail.

What hurts me even more tho is that we haven't seen any vehicle model.

This will never resume because Take Two have confiscated the Dev Kit. I have no idea if they backed up the hard drive to a computer and try to restore that way. This will sadly be swept under the rug as Single player isn't really loved it seems.
