The GTA V beta hunt

Recommended Posts

Moreover it was used in IV as downloadable ringtone if I recall correctly.

it wasn't used in gta v so why did they put it in.

and also. you were able to go to north yankton in freemode. And the map was much bigger according to this:

Hmmm nice bike

It's pager sound from GTA III.

It's also the theme song to GTA 1 ;)

Of course, then it made its way into III as the pager sound, VC as the Rockstar North tune at the beginning, and as a ringtone in IV. Would have been nice if they kept the tune for V just for old times sake. Though, like you mentioned, it was probably just used as a placeholder during an earlier stage of V's development.

Is there any mod to restore all this content, like characters shown on trailer, since there's a lot on game's files? Like a GTA V "Beta Edition™"?

Through heavy modding, anything is possible on the pc version.

I don't think there is a character in GTA V named Fred, that isn't the guy mentioned from Fred's Pictures. So I guess it is safe to assume either him or their mascot would have made an appearance at one point.

Or perhaps they are simply placeholder names in relation to Flintstones. Either way, I wonder what their purposes were.

these names were already used in gta 4 for the euphoria files, and i think these .yft files are used for the boundrys of the npcs and players.

for example: the _large files are used for the fat people

R* is lazy when it comes to removing leftovers.

Example: they have a lot of files from san andreas still in the gta 4 files

Not anything related to the current topic regarding GTA IV's Import/Export thing, but, here's a video showcasing some beta 2015 heist dialogue if anyone's interested.

Back when Online heists were original and DIDN'T just cop out and make almost all of the content out of single player dlc.

Well, alright. No Rockstar didn't track me down. It's just, after the initial debacle with people being so skeptical of this being real (which I understand), my friend doesn't like the site. He'd rather be hush hush about it until this ''project'' of getting the build working is finished. Unfortunetaly, we're all a bit caught up with IRL and other projects. My friend lately has been busy with importing Vice City into OpenRW and data recovery on Xbox devkits, GTA V isn't that important to him anymore. But we're not giving up on it.

However, since I am already talking, I guess I'll be able to share something huge regarding the soundtrack, and I only found this out yesterday.

Seems trackid2.gxt did not tell us everything about V's early OST, as I found over 120 extra cut songs from the likes of AC/DC, Chaka Khan, UB40, Alanis Morissette, Randy Crawford etc. I found this out by listening to the radio DJ files. The DJ's mention these songs, for instance Loggins saying ''You oghta know, on LS Rock Radio'' ''From the Jagged Little Pill album, this is Alanis Morissette'' (referring to Alanis Morissette's song Ought To Know), ''Let's get physical! With Olivia Newton John!'' (Referring to Olivia Newton John's's song Physical). It's sometimes hard to make out what song they're talking about, and sometimes, in the song comments, they just mention the artist and no specific song. That's why some of these song names will have a question mark on them.

So these are unseen removed songs that were never known to be cut from V before. None of these are in the trackID. I also included some cut songs from the trackID and put them in the correct station, (e.g the Tears For Fears song was believed to be cut for Non Stop Pop while it was meant to be for LSRR)

Unfortunetaly I am not allowed to share these DJ files atm. Fortunetaly I am allowed to send the list, so make of this what you will for the time being. I can probaly share them in the future. @Ash_735 can back me up on this on being true, we actually found some other cut songs together. But since I cannot share these files, I'd understand why you would be skeptical. I'll make a few snippits of the comments and upload them later today.

The list:

Los Santos Rock Radio:

Robin Trower- I'm Out To Get You

AC/DC - Shot Down In Flames

Duran Duran - Serious (this is in trackid.gxt2 but believed to have been cut for Non Stop Pop however it was supposed to be on Rock Radio, possible it

couldve been moved to NSP later on however)

Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time (was originally supposed to be on LSRR but was moved to Space)

The Clash - This Is Radio Clash (in trackid.gxt2 but believed to have been on Soulwax but it was supposed to be on Rock Radio.)

Billy Idol - Cradle Of Love

The Cranberries - Linger (Might've been for PMR before being moved to LSRR)

Alannah Myles - Black Velvet (on next-gen but was supposed to be on last-gen. Not in trackid) (btw thats a great song)

Robert Plant - ???

The Doors - ???

Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World (in trackid but is believed to have been cut for Non Stop Pop but it was supposed to be on LSRR, possible it was moved to NSP later on into development before being scrapped entirely)

Huey Lewis And The News - Hip To Be Square

Neil Young - Ohio

Olivia Newton-John - Physical (the 80s fitness theme lol, was probaly moved to LSRR after the removal of the 80s pop station)

Joe Tex - Loose Caboose

Radio Los Santos:

Jay Rock - Boomerang

Tyga - Rack City

Clams Casino - Cold War

100s - "Brick $ell Phone"

The host mentions a collab song from Freddie Gibs and Young Jeezy, but there are 2 colab songs from them and he doesn't specify which song.

So either Young Jeezy feat. Freddie Gibbs - Rough was cut or Young Jeezy - Do It For You ft. Freddie Gibbs

was cut

Wiz Khalifa - Initiation feat. Lola Monroe

2 Chainz - No Lie (Explicit) ft. Drake

Ohio Players - Climax (on next-gen, but was supposed to appear in the original version. not in trackid.gxt2)

Loleatta Holloway - Runaway

The Delfonics - Ready Or Not Here I Come

Jigsaw - Sky High

Channel X:

MDC - John Wayne Was A Nazi (This song was in next-gen but cut from the original version. However, the song isn't even in the original trackid.gxt2. So this is the first time that we know this song was supposed to be included

in the OG versions of the game)

Middle Class - Out Of Vogue

D.O.A - ???

D.R.I. - I Don't Need Society

7 Seconds - 99 Red Ballons

The Dickies - Give It Back

Jon Wayne - Mr. Egyptian

Black Lips - ???

Dick Stubbs - ???

Unfortunetaly, we're missing the DJ lines for Non Stop Pop and Mirror Park. The one for Mirror Park might be somewhere buried in this messy archive, but the Non Stop Pop FM DJ lines are just filled with Radio Broker placeholders. NSP certainly would've contained tons of goodies.

Anyway, these are roughly 120 cut songs. Add that up with the cut songs mentioned in the trackID, and the cut tracklist will rack up to around 240/250 removed songs, with around 3/4 removed radio stations. That's how big of a mess the V radio stations really were during development.

Sorry for focusing on music, I just find cut music very interesting in videogames :b

Holy sh*t.

Edit: Is there stuff for VBR as well?

Edited by goblinthegnome

Can vouch, spent 20 minutes listening to Scratch Perry rambling. Also leads me to believe there's earlier files lingering in these builds, especially as this version of Non Stop Pop was before they did a recording session with Clara Delevigne. I'm almost certain the rise of 80s songs oddly appearing on other stations are also a link to the cut 80s stations which we didn't have much info on before.
