The GTA V beta hunt

Recommended Posts

This has been like an early christmas present, it certainly goes with the content we all found in the past, radio stations alone prove that:

- There's a different logo for PMR here (station between SPACE 103.2 and Los Santos Rock Radio) [this station was under "90s_rock" which was used by Vinewood BLVD Radio]

- It has the beta SoulWax FM Logo (which was found in the PS3/360 textures left behind)

- Radio Los Santos and West Coast Classics have different logos

- Santos Surf is a cut radio station we didn't even know about (could this be "jazz" or "80s" that was mentioned in the files) [NOTE: "jazz" would later be taken by WorldWide FM]

- There's an additional under developed slot here that's just "ROCK STATION (TEMP)", possibly this later went on to be Vinewood BLVD Radio after PMR was cut?

edit: Here's the isolated logo's for the people interested...

Another interesting thing about radios is that there wasn't WCTR.

About Santos Surf... Maybe it was supposed to be a surf rock station (which would make sense in California setting)?

Oh, and the Sabre Turbo was meant to be called "Sabre GT".

This is amazing... That same guy posted on the GTA 4 beta hunt thread too with even more amazing sh*t from early in the games development... This is not what I saw coming. Whoever this guy is and where he got all of this material I hope will not remain a mystery.

inb4 this is all a hoax and none of this content is real.

He is just good at googling. Believe me, if you got time you can find the same for other games.

Example:

True Crime Hong Kong beta start menu, which game later became Sleeping Dogs

The only reason why R* changed GTA: Online is because to make more money.. They release useless DLC every month which (in most cases) requires you to buy these "shark cards" everytime to get all the new features.. and most of the new vehicles are leftovers from the beta version or restored ones from GTA IV. It's just a total mess.

Yeah i just noticed that all pictures are gone from the webiste :D clicking on one of the game logos just displays a "Not Found" error.
I can't believe that R* is so strict about their beta stuff. I mean the game is already released, it's not a secret that games do look different in beta stages.

but it's still on WBM though :)https://web.archive.org/web/20161202170941/http://www.josimar.com/gtav.html

Wait. What happened? PM, please?

I have a feeling that Santos Surf would be straight up 60s surf rock/jazz music. Would've been funny if Tarantino was the host.

EDIT: BTW the WCC beta logo resembles the font used on some of Ice Cube's albums in the 90s

I don't really understand Rockstar's motive on taking down this stuff. I mean, this game has been out for 3 years and they still want to cover up as much of the development process as possible for reasons unknown. What's wrong with us learning a bit of trivia of the games we know and love?

Also, it seems like most of the imgur links are now RIP. _CP_, since you said you saved all of them as separate images, would you mind uploading those? NVM

I don't even know what to feel/think.

Thanks I guess, just hope you're not hating me...

All the beta content I hunt and find. It's all for the best, seeing how things looked back in dev, curiosity...

Just wanted to say thanks for showing us all this amazing work back from the GTA V/Online development stages. It's a damn shame that they made you take it all down, and I'm hoping you didn't get to much flak from Rockstar because of all of this. The older version of online looked amazing and very interesting.

I got to read your post before you edited it. Just wanted to also say thanks a lot for showing what you did. Even though our hunger for beta content is ever growing, it is very appreciated that we got the chance to see more of the holes in the puzzle of GTA O's early development. Thanks a lot, Steven Walsh! You're one of the BETA hunt heroes now!

He said how he's also a big R* fan like all of us, and how he was the one who took the images down, admitting R* was right on requesting it, something about their policy of ''don't show the public what they don't have to see'' (not exact words but something like that). He worded it better than I did, though.

Seeing weapons like DB Shotgun in that photo really hurt. The fact it was there in single player but was cut and made for the online cash grabs is really sad.

It's not cut content. This shotgun icon is used as a placeholder and it's from Max Payne 3

Their motive - It's a little thing called an NDA.
