How do you move around before the TDM "starts?"

I'm sure many of you are well aware of how a TDM starts. The camera moves around you and you are frozen, there is then a flash and you are able to move and the TDM begins. Recently I've noticed a lot of players starting to move while I'm still frozen, before I get the flash. Is this simply a random occurrence or a sign of a dodgy internet connection, or is it a glitch that is exploitable?

 

Does anyone know how it's done? It's not really a big deal usually, but in TDMs that begin with a standoff, players who know how to move before everyone else have a massive advantage.

Yup, just lag. I had it quite a few times and thought it was a exploit or something, but then once I moved ahead before anyone else and it sunk in, connectivity/lag.

Yeah what tomuk and Solid just said. I've noticed GTA has been unusually laggy lately.

It's lag, pure and simple. Had it a few times. Such is life...

Sometimes, the same thing happens during races also. People are able to move before anyone else and can get quite a head start apart from all the other players.
