stop ramming in standard races

That why I avoid random road races all together. I tried a few of the new ones, same old demolition derby bs. I stick to sea, air or offroad races, usually allot cleaner racing.

I get rammed more and with greater devastation in air races. I also fly the Luxor and it's not my fault that 3-4 Mallards explode on contact with me before I go down.

I always take the Luxor in air races. sh*t can't keep up with it at all.

Another thing I hate is when I'm racing just fine along with two or three others, not ramming or anything, then someone rams my car, sending it into another one of the good racers, then the good racer f*cking yells at me the rest of the race and into the next lobby saying I'm a f*ck and whatnot. I mean, I guess they can't see the asshat crashing me into them, but f*ck man....you can easily tell who the pricks are and who accidentally hit you. It's not rocket science.

They could turn off the stupid DRIFT MULTIPLIER... that would help... but yeah it sucks getting rammed in the rear.

Just like people who use glitches, racers who need to ram to win just flat out suck at video games, and it's the only way they will ever win. I just don't let them touch me, always host and make sure catch-up is off. If you get really good, you can take the lead and keep it. They are never gonna go away, and there's no game mechanic to prevent them.

LOL not sure if you should listen to this guy.. You can tell right of the bat that he's not reasonable. He's comparing a glitcher to a person who crashes? So to him, a rammer and cheater are the same. ha I can see everytime jbarb doesn't like someone, he calls them a cheater..

It'd probably be better if he compared the rammer to a tank user but he aint to bright to come up with that comparison.

Like I said, a skilled racer can adapt to their environment. Everyone can ram each other, it's not a cheat

Uh, you're relying on taking me out of the race rather than your ability to drive, it's unsportsman-like. If we were on foot and I kicked your feet out from under you, would you say I won fair? By your definition I'd be the better racer right, because I still crossed the finish line first? I'd compare it to the tank user for you, but you're clearly not bright enough to understand it.

I like racing in gtao because it makes you a better driver all together in the game.

I notice most who race dirty are not that good and are easy to past.

It's the guy who's a good racer, but still rams you who will usually win. Smh

I can usually still place 5th to 3rd

i always found the biggest flaw in races isn't the racers, but that silly "checkpoint" system that they still force.

races would be much better if the track was a highlighted waypoint imo, like they do in impromptu races

that way you don't catch yourself turning back just because, despite going the right way, you missed a checkpoint by a couple inches somehow...plus it'd prolly reduce the negative effect of getting rammed.

Yeah...the checkpoints should stretch across the entire street. This would give the non-rammers a better chance at not being rammed because it'd give them more race lines to chose from when going through turns and stuff.

I do it but on accident, I was just in a race the other day and there were three entities, one adder, and me an infernus, I won and at one point me one adder and one entity were just racing side by side.. All respectful too it was alot more fun than just everyone pitting one another. Amazing what fun can be had when everyone actually just races...

They really gotta add something to avoid ramming in normal races in Gta Online it really annoys the f*** out of me. Whats would be a good solution to this problem? Racing just isnt fun anymore this way :/

Be careful. I can just say that.
Be careful when you overtaking or are in front of someone. During a overtake, if the guy in front try to ram you, just brake and let him go to the wall alone. You'll can go in peace and lead the race (at least until someone catch your vaccum).
BTW, I hate the naughty racers.

Ram or be rammed, why do people take GTA races so seriously? Just have fun, if you want to race in a more serious manner then race with friends.

It would be better if they used gates instead of checkpoints. That way you could have each marker at either side of the road and you would hit it regardless of where it is as long as you pass between. No more people purposely ramming you so you miss it.

I also think races should have been done using performance classes instead of car type, such as F E D C B A S R1. That way you could get rid of the fact that you only affect acceleration and brakes when modifying a car and make it so you can tune top speed and handling as well, making a D class car into a C or B class.

Then again this isn't a racing game, I just wish they'd gone all out on the car modding instead of what they gave us which feels a little half-assed.

Wait, what? You're saying that racing can be fun??? I guess I missed that memo. :p

:):) I actually had 2 fun races, in a row - The Commute - the host turned Custom Cars OFF, all the racers were clean, and it was a crazy neck-and-neck right up to the final waypoint.

The other 70+ bumper car sh*tfests races - not so much.

Rubbing is racing.....

I loved that movie and that was one of the best quotes from it.

I agree, it is super annoying. They almost never win, but almost always cost other people the chance to win intentionally ramming there car into the person passing them or the person ahead of them.

If you want you can add me. I'm constantly running races and my group of friends race clean (I usually take last to help everybody rank up/make money). Mainly because I have the skills to whip them and if they race dirty one of two things happens. I spank them on every race until they get their act together. Or if it's one person messing (have to hear it from multiple people in the race), then I spend every race making sure they come in last or DNF until they are acting right. It's nice being a level 120+ and not needing to win. Needless to say people learn to race clean in my group.

rammers, reverse course drivers, etc. is to be expected with the amount of kids playing this game. OP: the best way to avoid rammers is to get in the lead and stay there.

when I approach a driver who I think is going to ram me when I pass I will wait for an opportunity to blow by them and then will do a fast lane switch to their opposite side right before I pass them, and then often watch that driver run off the road when I'm not there on his/her other side waiting to be rammed.

I love ramming others in a race. It's the best.

I can't help but read your posts in Bobby's voice. Make me smile even on a bad day like today!

THANKS.

I believe the "GTA Race" option was created for those who think ramming and blowing up other cars is fun. This twisted notion that because its GTA means the races aren't supposed to actually be a race needs to be dealt with. I believe the name "Standard Race" means exactly that, a straight up race. If I wanted to play Gran Turismo, I would, but I'm playing this game and as long as there's "Standard Races" in it, I expect them be as such. If I jumped into a "GTA Race" and started bitching about players pulling this 4th grade bullsh*t, then I could see your side of the argument.

Couldn't agree more, ramming is the 800 pound Elephant in the room. I'm totally shocked no one has ever brought it up in any other thread on this forum because it really ruins the racing in GTAO.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

More contact you make with other cars = Less Cash/RP you get.

That could be a solution, but I'm not sure if it's possible for them to make the game determine who initiated the contact. :/

I like this actually, and since most drivers don't spend the entire race looking behind them I'd say it's pretty easy to determine that: the car in the lower position on the leaderboard.

I try to be as kind as possible.

Passing next to the player without using slipstream, no pitting, etc. I feel bad when I unwillingly get caught in a slipstream and ram the player.

I only intentionally ram or pit if I've been the victim first. I WILL remember your car.

Once did an off-road race where the one sandking xl was trying to spin everyone from the get-go. 'No matter what you do, you won't even come close to first place retard." is all I was thinking.

OP, there is no solution, race with randoms, assume a wreak, it's caused by many factors, predominantly, in my opinion, novice driving skills. However, the slip stream contributes significantly to the phenomenon, adding to the difficulty bad drivers face in regards to control.

Light at the end of the tunnel is impromptu races which have no slip and no ketchup.

It's WRECK....not wreak.

i find it weird how often a crash is caused by slipstreaming

how hard is it to just turn slightly to the side before passing someone?

granted the person you slipstreamed isnt a desperate tool who'll try to clip you beforehand

There is no solution. Not a workable one anyway. Either see it as a challenge, ram them back or only race with like-minded people.

yes there is. they could ghost the cars. which would force ppl to concentrate on winning based on their actual racing skills. Instead of wasting racing time sabotaging other players.

PK, I don't agree with ghosting, it's too unrealistic for my taste, what I like about GTA, and what I believe is it's most redeeming quality, is the pseudo realism it attempts to create. I'd like to see more realistic features, not less.

But it's strategic...? If we didn't ram, races would be won by whoever upgraded their car the most.
