So, I've noticed that some people here like to post news they've heard or seen here pretty often. And I did try to search for a thread like this, but failed miserably. If there is a thread about this already, somewhere hidden in an abyss, in a locked casket protected by an army of monsters... my apologies.

(I did notice a thread about what was happening in GTAF weekly though... it seemed like a cool idea. I wonder why did it die?

I didn't want to necro-bump that though... everyone would've been mad at me, I suppose. Thus I merely linked it here.).

 

Anyway, post possible breaking news in this thread. You can also discuss about any news posted here. If you're posting news, be sure to at least shortly tell something about it in the post. I've seen you guys post comments longer than novels about the news, so I know it's not impossible for you.

 

I won't necessarily be the bumping protector of this thread - I trust that you guys can keep it at least somewhat alive. If you can't, well, then all the time I used to create this was in vain.

Yanukovych 'concessions' fail to end unrest in Ukraine

Ukrainian protesters have set tires ablaze on the streets, continuing their protests against the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, and requiring his resignation.

The prime minister of Ukraine has also told that

"the government is ready to use all possible means to end the civil unrest"

 

a few days ago.

Last night the protesters indeed set tires ablaze on the streets and they also clashed with the police. The protesters threw Molotovs and rocks, and the police responded with stun grenades and rubber bullets.

Isn't the gen chat forum a newswire of sorts anyway? What's wrong with making a new topic for each news story? They run for pages and pages, and more often than not turn into a debate, I can see the topic getting very confusing if all the news is piled in here.

Yeah, the thing about news is that it tends to be different from day to day and people tend to like to give their opinion on it. This topic will probably end up being a clusterf*ck of different topics being discussed in the same thread.

It's a similar idea, yet people still tend to post questions and get answers there.

 

And people asking and answering the questions haven't made it a major clusterf*ck, have they?

Main point of this topic is to give a place for the news you guys post almost daily. Just like the Question thread gives a place for questions, and the Video thread gives a place for videos.

The difference being that generally one person asks a question and another answers it and that is as far as the discussion goes. On the topic of current affairs you can have 100 people with 100 different opinions on 100 different topics. Now my maths skills aren't up to snuff like they used to be, but I'm pretty sure that the amount of possible outcomes is what is known in the scientific field as a f*ck ton.

Well if it does become chaotic, I guess mods will lock it sooner or later then.

Well there was a three car pileup on the local freeway today because of the icy conditions. I hope everyone is ok, I don't think anyone was hurt but I do think some cars got smashed up pretty bad.
