I play it because i enjoy it, yes it can get boring at times if you stay in free roam or only do part of the jobs......hell i spent one evening playing golf, and another playing tennis....

but even then with a open world environment just exploring the Map and what details are hidden here and there are fun to find and see

not every play sessions had to include a grind to make money.........use the one free resource in the game that does not come with a price tag....GAS is free go ride and explore........and have a few laughs along the way with a friend

I wish I had more time to play but in a similar fashion to the OP I spend too many hours logging into jet ski forums and making threads asking "You're still riding a jet ski? Really?".

 

I think it is a great investment of one's time.

That would be a valid point if you rode a jetski prior to manufacturers changing certain specs on jetskis no longer making them fun to use.

 

I haven't played in a good few weeks now.. only log on here to check for DLC news and read funny threads. It's a shame. I was hoping GTA would carry me through to summer so I wouldn't have to buy a next gen console at full price.

I play it because i got nothing else to do and it's still fun sometimes.

 

I got an xb360 with lots of games but since i lost my main profile '2012 because of Microsofts seriously bad hotmail support i've lost interest in that piece of money taking chinese made hardware

I've taken a break from GTA: O for over a week now... I've played it too much, I suppose. The same thing happens with every game. After you play it too much, it will get boring. Maybe after some time I might go back to it.

It is nicer now that a load of turds who can't play it for real have left. I think that was about the time they took the blagged money from everyone and banned a load of kids. People who can't play it without the pretend number representation pixel group have left and the game is much better for it.

I totally understand that. I still play. I put so much emotional investment into the anticipation for this game, since November 2011, I'm going to be running just on momentum. And now that I have finally ground and clawed my miserable way up to Level 100, I have time to relax a bit and explore and not be a goal-driven obsessive type A loser in GTA0. I love the design of the GTAV virtual world and I want to appreciate it.

 

The obsession with leveling up and trying to keep a few dollars in my pocket, made me feel like Brucie in GTA IV - an obsessive fool, addicted to constantly chasing some idiotic ideal of self-improvement, out of fear that if I ever let myself think this was not essential to my survival, or ever stopped to take a break, I would lose all self esteem and would never be able to continue, just give up and admit that I'm a loser. Like Brucie. This is what the design of GTA0 has done to me. And it wasn't pretty.

 

I played GTA IV and TBOGT singleplayer for more than 2 years, and RDR for about a year, and only touched their multiplayer about 4 times for a total of an hour or so. Those games kept me engaged and enthralled. But I hate mutliplayer and I hate the people in multiplayer. Unfortunately, GTAV single player is such a dead end, that multiplayer is the lesser of two evils. At least I can morbidly observe the worst of human nature there.

 

Besides the need to grind and level up for unlocks, the 2 or 3 weeks of crazy money glitchers made GTA0 electrically exciting, a total thrill every night to see what was going to happen, and I loved the billions raining down. I was able to buy the cash card equivalent of about US $400 in cars and million dollar weapons of war, before Rockstar took away the dirty money and returned GTA0 to the normal sh*tfest, "the way it's supposed to be played." So those couple of weeks also really did punch up my interest level.

 

Now all that's left is exploring, getting killed in various ways, and getting rammed in races.

Gunfights. Police Chases. Losing that wanted level. Being called sh!tdick an infinite number of times. Trying to figure out how Jessie at the clinic does it everyday because so many are hurt bad. (Fellow survival heads will get that one.) The new insane crew I joined.

 

Most of all it has to be aiming the Heavy Sniper at a tank and pulling the trigger, and the satisfaction of seeing that green circle turn red along with "| The Spook | killed whoeverisinthattank" with the loud reaction over the mic.

 

But... mainly, because it's GTA. R* made a few mistakes with online, but nobody's perfect.

I haven't burned out on it yet, probably becasue I only get to play once or twice a week. I'm 200k away from a tank purchase, I think that might make things even more interesting. Otherwise its still fun, and it's keeping me occupied until I buy a new house, afterwards it may be time for the PS4.
