Rockstar use cheap methods to ban modder

Pretty much their effort is useless as the banning methods only involved account and console id blacklisted from their server and not IP ban, once modders aquaired new console id and recreated a new PSN account everything will be back......

Wtf are you smoking son a new IP is a hell of a lot easier to get than a new console ID.

Pretty much their effort is useless as the banning methods only involved account and console id blacklisted from their server and not IP ban, once modders aquaired new console id and recreated a new PSN account everything will be back......

Wouldn't they just be able to call up their internet provider and ask for a new IP? They also could just manually change it themselves, if they know what they're doing, and everything will be normal.

From what i've heard they only blacklisted the CID to log into their server,but is not PSN ban.

OP is a noob. IP bans are utterly useless in all but 1% of cases.

I imagine it would be harder on Xbox since even if you get a new account, it can't get online because its not gold. Also heard Microsoft has no problem bricking consoles.

Yet the hackers are not back like they were. There are not millions of dollars being given away. There might be some big bounties but you can only get $9k. Majority of people won't mod their ps3, so like it or not but it is appearing that Rockstar has won.

 

Would be interesting to know if people who place the bounties over $9 k are auto reported to Rockstar and banned.

The basic analogy I would use is as follows:

 

IP banning someone is like closing a door in their face and telling them they can't come back in, but not locking the door. Some will get the hint and move on, but most know it is simply a case of opening the door and walking back in if they want.

 

Console banning is as above, except you lock the door as well.

I think OP may be right. thats why we have this GTA Spring right now. it is when the IP bans are in effect. dont know what they do with dynamic IPs because u just reset ur router and get a new one. and then the new guy who gets your old IP is going toget a big dunce cap or blocked out.

also, the hackers use proxy's so r* is probably looking at their server logs and thinking GTA is verry popular in Guyana, hmmmmm....

so u just need to get a new console and new PSN plus or in case of xbox, new xbox and new gold account. then hook in the jtag and rgh and go. bountys again and now we have SP vehicles, its going to be 1.05 all over again.

For the reasons BondageKitty mentioned this really is a ps3 problem. $60 a year to avoid the vast majority of script kiddies is money well spent.

I was spectating. I think he modded it so the police shot some type of explosives and were blowing themselves up around him. Also the buzzard was shooting something like 5 rapid rockets in succession. I got a buzzard in that lobby and didn't behave like that for me.

 

He was also doing huge moon jumps with the bike and riding super fast.

and user finds a console id, and opens the door though it is lot harder. LOL at ip ban that sh*t be easy to bypass.

IP bans can't be used as most ISP's use dynamic address allocation. Which means that every time you restart the router you will most likely get a new IP. It is very rare to have a fixed IP and you normally have to pay for it.
