How do you increase your health?

Regaining health is one thing, increasing is another. Like the post said, level up.

Some lower levels will accuse you of modding if they have guns that don't do enough damage to you.

Increase? Level up

Replenish? Eat/drink, start a mission, log out and in, sleep, shower...

Also, having more strength lowers damage taken by certain sources.

Your health regenerates faster when your in cover than when your standing normally.

edit @below: just to explain a little more, the eating animation is skipped when your in cover so its pretty much an instant health boost, great when your in a pinch.

Every 20 ranks it goes up another "bar" like your other stats when you use them. A nice trick in combat is to take cover and eat your snacks from the inventory. It kills the regen time you'd normally wait and gives you the health instantly.

Yeah sorry, I meant replenishing health.

Why is it so hard (awkward) to do? Eating takes ages, starting a mission or logging out is a hassle, as it going all the way to my apartment to shower or sleep.

It seems once my health is half way down it is basically stuck there until I die.

Getting in an ambulance can replenish too. Just call emergency services. Occasionally I do that when I don't want to use snacks.

What I find in the exact same situations, you can eat a snack and it will either replenish your health very slowly, or very fast.

It's odd.

Eat while you're in cover. You'll fill up your health bar in 2 seconds

It is. It only regenerates half way. To fill it completely you need to eat a snack/drink a sprunk.

That depends if you are in cover or not. If you are just standing around you have to go through the eating animation which make it slow. However if you are in cover there is no animation and your health is replenished instantly. It's worth noting that if you are not in cover and you eat a snack you should hold the button when you select the snack you want to eat so he'll get more health out of that single snack.
