Downsized Apartments, Lost Cars

Like many people, I moved to Eclipse Towers after getting my first billion dollar bounty. Like many people, I got tired of the constant firefights just getting in and out of my garage or apartment so last night I decided to downsize to the 6 car garage apartment in Little Seoul for $137,000.

 

From reading online I was under the impression that only the first 6 cars I bought in my garage would transfer with me, so I sold the 4 cars I drove the least before buying the smaller apartment (no problems selling them btw, and ended up making good money for them). But when I finally switched apartments (which ended up giving me a $63,000 profit) I only had 3 cars in my garage, the other side had 3 empty slots. Social Club still shows them in my garage but they're nowhere to be found in the game. I tried calling Mors Mutual to see if they were somehow destroyed and nothing there. I don't regret the move and am happy enough with the 3 cars I still have (Adder, Bati, and SandKing) but I thought I'd post this as a warning for others who might be considering the same. As far as I can tell I won't be getting those cars back so if you plan on downsizing just know that you might risk losing some cars, even if you've sold down to just 6.

Maybe move back to a 10 car garage to see if you get em back then you could at least sell em?

from what i've read, you don't actually "lose" the cars, they are just not accessible to you in that apartment. if you bought another 10 car place, you'd get the cars back

Only cars in parking spots 1-6 transfer. Just move back into a 10 car garage to get your vehicles back.

Maybe move back to a 10 car garage to see if you get em back then you could at least sell em?

Wow, I didn't even think of calling the mechanic. I'll try that tonight. Thanks for the tip. If he doesn't have them I'll probably still stay put in my place, at least until heists are released and I need a planning room.

I'm not sure about that, my SandKing was in spot 8. Good to know that they'll be back if I ever move back to a 10 car space though.

I do know this for a future reference to anyone, if you have 10 cars and move to a 6 car garage..you can destroy the cars you don't want to take and it will give you the 6 cars you have left. And if you ever move back to 10 car garage you'll get your other cars back (after you calls mors of course)

Thanks, yeah I'm enjoying my new spot a lot more. Bike park across the street, convenience store and Ammunation around the corner, no stupid battles to just get into my garage.

Yep, I actually sold 3 of my cars and destroyed my Elergy as the 4th car to make room.

Update: When I call the mechanic I can only choose from the 6 cars in my garage. Social Club still lists my other cars as being in my garage so hopefully I'll get them back if I ever decide to upgrade to an apartment with 10 cars again.
