lol232
I installed the V 2.0 version of the game and now I'm having problems with something; Texture pop-ins. I don't want to disable the Frame limiter because it makes the game too crappy, texts disappear too quickly and the game is kinda annoying to play that way. I have troubles with textures too Long to load; I don't experience that while on foot but I do experience that while in an aircraft, the gameplay is also kinda off laggy. My specs are fine, it's a high end PC, SA worked a lot better on my older laptop with worse specs. Anyway, they are: CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k GPU: Sapphire TOXIC R9 280x 3GB GDDR5 VRAM RAM: Patriot 8GB 1600 MHz RAM Is there a way to fix this? I'm running the game on 1080p, Max Draw Distance, Anti-Aliasing set to 3 and Very High FX detail. It always worked on my Laptop like that (minus the Res since the screen didn't support it)
Girish
Did you update your video drivers recently? The same thing happened to me with newer video drivers. I had to rollback to an older driver version. Sometimes, newer video drivers end up causing problems with older games. This is a trial and error method though. I had to try a few different older drivers until I found the one that caused me no issues. Don't forget to delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder after you uninstall a driver. lol232
I tried that, it fixes the pop-in bug but the game is still pretty laggy and still crashes from time to time.
Girish
Does the game still crash when you lower the settings? Have you checked for overheating issues? This is all assuming that you're not using any mods.
lol232
No mods, no overheating (the CPU runs pretty cold when it plays older games, in fact). And yeah, no difference whatsoever when I lower the settings, and I have no mods mods installed, I'm using legitimate retail disc. Girish
Are you running the game under compatibility mode? If not, then please do so. Try Win 98 or Win XP. Also try setting the affinity of gta_sa.exe to CPU 0 via Task Manager after you launch the game. Check if the game still crashes.
lol232
Setting the comapatibility mode to 98 boosted the performance and lowered the amount of pop-ins. Now, it there are still some pop-ins; but discreet enough to ignore. How do I set the affinity though? It says "ACCESS DENIED" whenever I try; same thing when setting the priority. There's another issue I noticed; When I set the compatibility mode for 98 the game freezes and I can fix that by pressing ctrl+alt+delete and going back in, then the game is fine, but 60% of the time I don't have any success with it. Girish
It seems you do not have administrative access. Is that the case?
lol232
It seems you do not have administrative access. Is that the case?I fixed the "access denied problem", and no it's not the case since there's only 1 user which is simultaneously the Administrator.I'm facing a different problem regarding the compatibility mode. E: I managed to get the game working like a charm; except for one thing, if I drive a car or fly a plane, at some point the game will freeze.
