Performance modding cars worth it?

So I'm starting to have disposable income, as I've pretty much finalised my garage, got a chopper and am basically just waiting to be able to buy a Heavy Dozer... I normally stick turbos on all my cars if I want to at all go fast in them, as it's a pretty decent return for 25-35k, but have stayed away from full performance mods until now.

Are they worth it on cars online, given the speed capping?! And is there proportionally more of a difference for slower cars than for supers? I have everything from Rebels to Exemplars to Sabre Turbos to Entity, so a decent range. Anyone done speed tests at all or anything?

Cheers, appreciate any info.

all upgrades are useful.

Well... except for the visual and auditory ones. I was talking about performance upgrades.

They all mod acceleration not speed. Yes they are capped in freeroam but you get to the cap faster. They do matter a lot if you race.

Engine upgrades, gearbox and turbo for accelleration.

Suspension for handling.

All the rest is just shiny bling.

It really depends on what you're using them for. If you plan on racing all the time then every little upgrade works, but if you're just planning on blasting around town with it then why spend the extra cash?

I originally spent all the money on the speed mods, and nothing on visual, because that vehicle would win me money in races and back to making it look good later.

So again, it's all in your goals.

Sometimes the performance mods screw up a cars handling in my experience, sadly, you have to shell out the cash to find out.

This.

Although, just because you have it doesn't mean you gotta use it. Technically, the go button works at half press, too. ;)

Does the turbo actually have turbo lag? I noticed that when I did up my Bullet with all the non-turbo mods first, it wasn't really that much quicker after adding in the turbo tuning, and maybe it makes sense to skip the turbo in some of these cars, anyways.

I'm also trying to figure out if lowering is actually detrimental in some of the higher end cars (specifically the Voltic). Some of the cars (Voltic) already handle like they're on rails, so adding lowering would in theory just make it overreact more to curbs and pieces of cardboard.

The problem is I'm not good enough to determine the answer, there's simply too much variance in my output.

I upgraded everything in my garage 100%, all with legit money which took ages. You say you have some disposable income, it better be a lot because cars cost anywhere from about 100-160k to fully upgrade including bulletproof tires, tire smoke, horn, etc.

I'd personally want to test drive a car before handing hundreds of thousands of dollars over. We should be able to test drive cars from the in game store. ;) I've spent so much money on tragic cars with false specs.

You can find pretty much any car on the street, just to drive. Of course, modding it out costs money to see what performance parts will do to it.

Make sure you get bulletproof tires if you haven't already. Not a speed performance upgrade so you might have already gotten it, but it's arguably the most important of all of them. That will help you against players and cops. Also driving on 4 tires instead of 3 or 2 is most definitely a speed advantage.

Bulletproof tires are the first upgrade you should shell out for on any car you use for missions, drive in free roam regularily or even race with (not as important as the other 2, but I have blown a tire in a race)

Cheers guys. Yeah, all my rides have BP, I'm talking mainly race-unlocks here like transmission, engine, brakes. Have a fully modded Exemplar, Elegy and Mesa, with 800k odd kicking about, but wondering whether I should bother with the rest which I mainly free roam in. Guess there's nothing else to buy really!

I remember fully modding an older style Baller, and wishing I hadn't. It really didn't make it as super fast as I wanted and just made it spin out and handle funny.

Best advice would be trying out your mods in SP first

I only bother with turbo if it's a really slow car. Not like I race anymore.
