Relax mate. Stickies are set at a good price. The difference between a sticky and a tank is that one gives you the opportunity to destroy one vehicle, while the other gives you the ability to destroy countless vehicles, while also giving you the advantage of near invincibility.

 

No one with rational thoughts is suggesting that tanks be removed all together. They just need to be harder to use as a griefing tool, and harder to reacquire.

 

actually just making them harder to reacquire would decrease the amount of tanks you see online dramatically since most people are broke.

My character likes getting blown up! Whats the big deal??

 

Raising prices may encourage more money cheats. But, I can guarentee there will be a point where Rockstar stops placing money cheat exploiters in Bad Sport lobbies and just starts banning them all together. That means less Bad Sports that us Clean Players have to deal with, meaning less tanktards and buzzardbutts.

 

You've seen less tank action because the tanktards are getting stuck in Bad Sport lobbies more often now.

 

The big deal is that tanktards don't have to pay in full for their destruction. Any tank user should have to pay the full price for any personal vehicle they destroy, and should have a hefty price to reacquire a destroyed tank. If they can't pay, their apartment and vehicles should be repossessed, starting with the least expensive car and working the way up to most expensive car, then finally the apartment itself. Also, after a total of 1mill in PV's has been destroyed by a tanktard, fighter jets from the military base should be deployed to try to destroy the tanktard. THAT would limit the use of tanks as griefing tools, while also allowing players that just want to use tanks against NPC's to not be affected negatively.

Sorry mate, if I see a tank I'm climbing that Maze Bank and sniping you till you leave session. While you have the odd player that has fun blowing up every cop they see, the majority are just dimwits that want to feel invulnerable.

It wouldn't be me your shooting anyway, like I said I don't use it often. But after reading this thread I'm getting the urge to..

There's really not much else to do in a tank beside blow everything up. The cops get boring and are very predictable. So when players like to flock around and keep coming back for more.

Its been known that someone can take all their money out of the bank on one character. Leave a few hundred on another to spawn a tank/buzzard and go on a PV destruction spree and not pay for them.

 

My suggestion is simple:

 

make players with no money have to pay the PV charge anyways By subtracting their money into the negative. That way even though a tank costs only $200 theres no way they can just transfer a few funds and start again without paying the full amount which can come directly from

Their maze account if ever they deposit again forcing them to either hold all their money on a char they dont abuse or pay. Either way legitimate players win and 12year old brats and adults with the same mental capacity are held accountable.

I have said before that there should be negative money, they had it in SA. It would be a great idea IMO.

 

How do you prevent a normal character from going into debt, and then they can't buy ammo in order to make money, or retrieve their car? Sure we'd all like to watch a griefer try to complete gang attack with a broken bottle, but it's not like we'd even get to watch. The existing solutions to leave the session, or vote to kick seem like enough.

It is easy to sell cars to LSC for money, it doesn't take much effort. you can just grab a Baller off the street (and they are pretty common) and take it right there and sell it for 9k (or $8926 if you stole a parked one and broke the window) Lampadati Felons, a little rarer, are even worth 500 more. That buys tons of ammo and pays for most car's insurance prices. And it can be done every 48 mins.

So drive your sports car up in the country.

The mountain roads are very scenic.

I disagree about removing tanks. I love them and wouldn't use them against players except for defending myself. I would just be blowing up police and random NPC drivers. I tend to leave PVs alone, unless they are trying to kill me. Because I know it sucks to lose them. I am not even the level for it yet though, lol. Only a bit over half way there so far. I actually wish the Lazer was purchasable too, dogfigts with the police are really fun (only ever manages to get away with 1 lazer before and that is what I did with it)

1. I don't care when my car , or I get blown up by a tank, other player , crashing, whatever.. Strike One.

 

2. I have never driven a tank, owned a tank. Nor , would I. And, no, they shouldn't be removed, IMO, it's just gutless play, but, SHOULD BE ALLOWED.. But, so is passive mode. Strike Two for me.

 

3. I have been ran over, shot at and killed just for driving a car I just jacked, no bounty, avoiding other players and taking side streets, to sell it .. Someone sometimes still finds me.. It cracks me up. I die. I don't care. I go steal another car or whatever.. It doesn't matter.. Foul Tip.

 

4. I spend mass on armor, ammo. I suck ass at shooting, lol. I die a lot more than I kill. I am worthless in Deathmatches. I am broke, don't care that the gifted money I received was taken away. As it should've been. I just grind away another day, trying to cause, or get involved in the chaos in some of the better lobbies I have found where it is anarchy.. I don't bitch, whine or moan. It's part of the game IMO..

Best example of an actual game-play response I've seen. Send out the jets. Hell, send out the army! If a tank is rolling down the street, it's not like it's only the cops who come running! There have been a few examples of tanks in the streets in the real world and the National Guard were called...

 

If a tank is rolling down a city street in anything other than a mission, the miltary will likely get involved, if only because they are they only ones with the hardwware to take it OUT.

 

The side effect of this would be that tankers in Open mode would end up having Saints Row style battles, but HELL, that was a BLAST (pun intended) and I never minded getting killed when it was finally too much for me. It'd probably be a riot to watch if you're a non-tanker, too. Just call your friends, find a hillside to park on (or better yet, watch it on TV) and grab the popcorn.

 

Tankers WANT a challenge. That's why they randomly blow crap up - there's nothing ELSE to do.

 

In defense of those tankers who want a chance to roll out of town and randomly blow stuff up out in the desert or mountains, give them a maximum amount of damage they can do before the heavies are called in... But don't ANNOUNCE that limit, or you'll get tanktards blowing that much up, blowing up their tank, and then respawning to do it all over again.

Well, if they wanted a challenge they could get out of the tank.. Funny thing is, when they do get removed from the tank they go passive. Seems to me they never wanted a challenge, which is why they tanked up in the 1st place.

 

I've owned a tank for 2 months and still have never killed a player with it. Simply because, i don't like being a bitch.

Tank driving down the street? SWAT should instantly be summoned. When the tanker blows the hell out of SWAT (because, let's face, SWAT can't do anything to a tank), the National Guard should get called in - heli's, armored cars... When the Nat Guard get blown away, send in the big boys. Tanks, Jets with heat-seeking missiles...

That was what I LOVED about Saints Row (and I'm not saying go play that - different styles of game make for different styles of fun - SR is over the top - but so is a TANK).
