The worst happened to me last night: I had just gotten Simeon's vehicle repainted, about to deliver it when "Your connection to the server has been lost. Returning you to GTA V, try online again later." or something like that. I was quite pissed.

 

So, yeah...both of those happen to me a lot in the past week or two. Never happened before that, just in the past couple weeks.

I have not been able to play for 4 days because I'm always getting unknown error.

 

I get to my car drive out of garage and bam single player.

I had the same thing happen for a week. I did the dmz thing, dns settings, static ip, port forwarding, and every other thing you could think of.

 

I sent rockstar support 3 tweets, 1 email, and submitted a ticket. NO F*CKING RESPONSE all week.

 

I ended up getting a new router/modem and I've been good so far.

 

Is your home wifi cutting out randomly too? If it iis that might be the issue.

No its only this game that dose it. Laptops WiFi, phones WiFi, and my other games have no problem at all.

Sorry I couldn't help. I would suggest getting ahold of their "support" but that's a huge joke. Maybe try their phone number. Good luck.

How much do i have to pay someone in order to do an official GTA:O net survey to test this "it's your sh*tty connection"?

 

Poll should have something like:

 

Problems - Daily, weekly, monthly

 

Nat Settings - 1,2,3

 

Connection - Wired, wireless

 

For me it usually happens 2-3 times a day, sometimes i'm lucky and will get a 2 hrs session without interruption.

Over the last few months I have connected my PS3 through an ethernet cable, assigned it a static IP and added this IP to my DMZ. Now I no longer have any connection problems.

i had connection issues back when the game started, then everything was nice til patch 1.08 came and i started to have random disconect or the infamous Timed Out connections issues.

 

since the manteinance the servers have been very shaky, connection drops more often, now for some reason there are players that can join any lobby but when they try to join crew mates it would time out every time.

 

and no its not ny connection, as this things ONLY happen with gtao.

 

hope they put as much emphasis on gamebreaking problems like this connection issues as they did with the money wipe.

They better after shutdown I've only got to play about 3 hours all together.

 

About maybe 10-30 minutes if I'm REAL LUCKY!!!

 

At first it wasn't bad maybe once or twice the first 3 days then it has just got unplayable!

To add to this topic (I've already posted here somewhere), I lose connection to the server but I'm still in the Xbox LIVE Party with my friends. It's clearly the servers acting up...but then again my friends will sometimes stay in the game or a few of them will drop.

Seriously, you can't blame someone's connection just because yours is working fine. Remember when GTA:O launched and people had no problem connecting while others couldn't get the first cutscene to work? It's gotta be something like that.

It's interesting that a new router has apparently fixed you. In my original post I forgot to mention that I also did a firmware update on my router along with the other steps which seemed to fix me. A server did "empty out" on my at one point last night, but I never got kicked to single player. I do have trouble booting directly to online, though, and usually go to online via single player pause menu as many others do. Bad R* programming, I guess.

 

I do feel that the problem is R*'s somehow, but by making my connection as clean as possible helps to deal with their fussy 'cloud'.

 

Fussy R* Cloud? Lazy programming? Cheap cloud hardware?

I was shocked that that was the issue. I guess I got lucky since it was a free upgrade through my ISP. It all happened when the 1.09 update went live for PSN. I'm sure there are still issues with their servers though because even though I have a direct internet connection the game still lags and freezes a bit. I'm more irritated that they had ZERO "customer support." On twitter they would at least answer with the same 2 generic responses, but I didn't even get that.

 

For how much money they have made on this game it's absolutely pathetic that they're still having these server problems. The hackers definitely put a hold on any improvements.

I had the same problem. I always got the error saying timed out locating session. I reset my modem by clicking the reset button. And it fixed now. Try it.

Anyone have serious trouble getting online over the last 2 days? I've timed out probably 30-40 times just trying to get on, had 2 clear-outs today... Hasn't been this bad before.

I dont have a router. I only use modem.

Well, I guess that rules out a router issue, then. ;-)

 

It seems like a R* problem. Back in the old days, I spent a few days driving around to different businesses setting their routers to MTU=1500 because the ISP decided to get fussy. I wonder if there's some fussy R* setting, and it sounds like you have the same feeling.

Exactly bro. There must be something. I think it is security related, i dont know.

 

BTW I CAN SAY THAT RESETTING MODEM FIXED THE ISSUE. I ONLY GOT ERROR ONCE OR TWICE . I THOUGHT IT DIDNT BUT IT FIXED. PLEASE TRY TO RESET MODEM. DONT DO IT FROM INTERNET BROWSER, DO IT FROM MODEM RESET BUTTON.
