Don't have a decent gaming chair, so I tend to sit Japanese-style in front of the TV:

(not me, obviously)

Downside: playing for an extended period gives me dead legs - cue me standing up afterwards, then face-planting into the coffee table...

If i ever get mad over a video game which doesn't happen to often i just take a smoke break, Behold the magical powers of weed!

if you don't smoke just take a break to cool down lol

Now, I've got two. First one was from hitting my fist against the sofa, but hitting the wood frame part after losing by .12 seconds in a race. That was early Dec. That led to me having to grip the Mad Catz slightly differently. That lead to the CTS so now I have a wrist brace.

I guess that is technically two, so I've got three actually. Yesterday, I strained by right leg while playing an intense round of TDM where I stood up to get more leverage. I doubled over for about 10 seconds and got wasted. Today I realized I still feel some sort of strain in that same leg.

Does anybody have any injuries?

Any specific techniques to alleviate injuries like CTS and RSI?

Do you do warm ups and if so, what? Wrist stretches would not have prevented the leg injury. I know you're supposed to take 15 minute breaks every two hours, but that's not realistic so I usually just skip it.

My brain hurts from trying to comprehend physical injuries incurred by playing video games. Does that count?

I have what I call the rage stool. It's a foot stool with about 6 inches of hard cushion that I use when I'm playing. I do allot of TDMs, my philosophy is if your not raging your not concentrating. My wife loves it also because I'm not punching any unnecessary holes in the walls. I'm usually cursing in a language my daughter doesn't understand so I'm golden there as well. Getting killed doesn't make me rage, stupid teammates, or AFK teammates make me go bananas, and I always get one or two other every other match.

I have arthritis and CTS. First, it's important to take breaks every hour or so to avoid problems from occurring or getting worse. The other thing that helps me is running warm water over my hands to relax the tendons.

I've only ever raged hard while playing Soul Calibur IV/V online. I think I bruised my hand a couple times, broke a couple controllers, as well as some less than valuable things. The worst I've done with this game is punch my chair relatively hard after getting PITed, no injuries though.

Glad somebody dug this thread up. lulzy read

Your 33 with arthritis? That sucks man. Every time I go over to my mothers house I see her suffer with it, but she's 68, you expect it at that age.

Some people get it young...I know someone who got it in their twenties

starting to have a lot of people in twenties get it actually, mostly from work, too many desk jobs, staring at screens, getting tired then ur wrist/posture suffer and u get CTS.

most of the time when the madcatz goes flying across the room it is because 1) losing a race by something like that (crash) or 2) losing a TDM because of idiot teammates etc. when we are winning by 2 and there is 20 seconds left, just go hide.

i try to do the 15 minutes every 2 hrs but even though i forget. then later that night or next morning i will feel it. i will try the warm water over wrist and hands. Im assuming before and after?

You know when you physically harm yourself because of a video game that it's time to find something new to play.

Seriosuly, this is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

OMG THIS ONE IS A MUST SEE TO IF YOU DON'T LAUGH YOU HAVE ZERO HUMOUR

LOL i just noticed the part where she says you want it deep, look at his face hahahah, but the moral of the story is don't freak out cause you might hurt yourself or make yourself look like a dumarse or get stuck in a foam pit.

I crushed my ps3 controller with my hands, cause I missed a 2 billion dollar bounty by literally 5 seconds. I got a couple of cuts from the plastic

You have girlish hands. I would enjoy a handjob please. Also last time I punched a wall my fist of steel went through it and I didn't even bruise. You are clearly a delicate little flower.

lol you have the nerve to call someone a "delicate little flower" when you dont look so tuff yourself sugar tits....

anyways, after weeks of playing gta online, i decided to go play some football. after the first pass, befor i was ven tackled, i had to quit because i pulled a muscle in my back. i also busted my knuckle punching the walls...

Yep, it sucks but it happens. It's important to take care of yourself, I don't know if gaming for years contributed, but no game is worth that. People really should take a break every hour from typing/gaming.

It's not really a preventative thing. The warm water just eases the pain. Really though, if your hands hurt you pushed it too far and have caused damage. I don't know if CTS can go away on its own, but by being careful not to type/game excessively the problem has vastly improved for me.

I actually destroyed my TV, controller, and headset.

Some of you may have read about it in my Ft Zancudo topic...

Although it was a good opportunity to go and buy a new TV 3 times the old ones size the very next day hahaha

Not from the game, but your flashing red avatar may be giving me a photosensitive seizure.

A Butthurt Guy

I'm pretty sure everyone who's played this game, including me, has had one specific physical injury.

Being butthurt...

On topic, no. I used to hit things when I was angry but grew out of it. I never understood throwing and breaking gamepads though. There is nothing done in-game by the AI or other players that will piss me off anywhere near as much as having to drive to the store and shell out $50 for a new controller. Even worse if it's hundreds or more likely thousands in medical bills from a broken hand.

i keep my broken controller nearby, now i throw that instead of the one im using. not the same, but close.

What the f*ck you doing playing with a madcatz?

throwing the first controller and the trigger breaking so running with a borrowed madcatz.

I haven't raged *THAT* hard in this game. Last time I did that was when I was still playing CoD... I actually broke a controller one time. Haha.

True story: When I was playing Vice City aged thirteen, I headbutted my television after failing "Demolition Man" for the sixth time and lost consciousness for a good minute.

Bare in mind this was in the days before flat screens where TVs looked like this and were heavy as f*ck:

nqohub.jpg

Apart from that, no other video game related injuries.

thought about punching the tv once but held back.

Yea i wouldn't either as the tv almost always wins with that thick ass screen lol

Never. The only things that have gotten physical injuries from my gaming experience are: CRT monitor randomly going bust due to dust inside, occasionally bumping foot somewhere after getting a drink, controller thrown across room and bouncing back like nothing happened, steering wheel controller broken due to rough usage by a friend, and ps2 controller malfunctioning analog sticks (thank god ps3 sticks don't have that).

And that people is, when you are careful, equipment usually breaks earlier than you. Though I wish I had the power (and money) to punch my big CRT TV and buy a flat screen.

Who the hell get's so mad at a game that they lash out? And why do you continue to play it if it makes you angry?

Last time I checked.. Angry = No fun.
