character age

When first creating my character I remember it saying my character's age, can't remember if you could change it then or not. My question is will our characters eventually get too old and die? What was the purpose of our characters having an age? I know the game is realistic but sh*t

Their age effects their appearance.

Your character will die when Rockstar or MS/Sony shut the servers down, but by that stage your console will probably be in a museum.

I was wondering the same thing

I made a character because but stop playing with her and made a new account but I wanted the same look as my other character.

Well it didnt look like her even doh I did use the same everything. The other night I start looking at her and Im like damn she look just like me other character and this is me playing with her for about 2-3 months now. So I don't know about the getting old thing but to me it look like that do change a little over time.

I highly doubt your character ages. I have been playing for a total of over 14 days online and I don't see anything that would amount to "aging effects".

I'm pretty sure that your character's looks are static once you leave character creation and begin the game. If they don't even bother to age the main story characters I doubt they would do it for online characters.

Yeah I think it was age 21 - 40? I think. Can't quite remember.

But yeah can't really tell the difference. I picked 21, because that's how old I am.

Miss Malevolent

I picked 40 cause that's one year younger than what I am.

But basically...it's about how "weathered" your character will look.

They won't die of old age. Hell, that would assume they could get to an elderly state with all the shooting, explosions, and knifings.

The character age is just for appearance. If you want to play a young character, pick the lowest age. If you want to play an older character with some more wrinkles then pick the highest, or something in between.

Your character does not age within the game, you simply pick how old you want to look when you first create your character.

This. I couldn't think of a good way to describe it.

Well I picked 40 because the damn game didnt give the option to go higher.........I would have had to pick 52 if allowed ........but going back 12yrs is fine by me LOL

I'd like to think i'm on the younger side but it can be hard to tell with all the blood, dirt, and bruising.

It doesn't affect anything but appearance (slightly). I think it's there more for a role playing purpose.

Woah, hi grandpa :p

I don't think age makes a difference on your characters appearance. I've changed it multiple times and the character looks almost identical. Barely any wrinkles on the face

In fact, your character DOES get older. Everytime you die, it resets it's age to the initial age you gave him. If you spend a loooot of time without dying, your character's face will change and appears to be older, your character ages. At a certain age, your character dies then respawn again with his age reseted.

It took me a while to figure that out but it's true, just try it

No, it's just your imagination.

Try not dying? Good luck with that.

My character is the same age as me, 37. He looks much older than I do though.

Maybe it'll tie into heists or something? Lol maybe it effects the speed in which your skills increase or decrease, idk, ask R* and they'll tell ya, maybe.

Maybe if your character is older he will have to stop for bathroom breaks during the heist?

You can set your age when you first make your character, I made mine the same age as me.

I believe it affects appearance but I'm 100% positive your character won't grow old and die, this ain't the sims.

the 'go to bed' animation is for older players (like me), so that we can have a nap in the afternoon.

The age makes little to no difference. I didnt want to be a young punk so I went with my age and picked 40 but flipping back and forth between 40 and 21 on the editor I honestly could not see anything change. It was a waste of effort.

My main character is much older than the other, and I've already used the option of changing anything on both of them long time ago. So what I've noticed so far is that my "elderly" loses lung capacity, while my younger one - loses strength. Just a little tiny bit - but it's easy to prove when you have it all maxed out - and then suddenly - you see that it's not 100% after a while. Lifestyles are pretty similar so it must be the initial age.
