Why do you feel a need for "rare" cars?

Something I been trying to understand, why do people give so much value to "rare" cars? Rare here meaning cars with low spawns, low usage, some unique characteristic or at times even glitched into the game.

 

In the first weeks tried collecting most rare cars, this day I can say I owned every vehicle in the game at least once. But I don't remember why. So much effort to get a car then when I had it, I didn't find much use for it. It just stayed in the garage wasting space until I sold it and regretted all the money and time I spent on it. At present my garage is balanced so no vehicle is too similar to another and each as it's purpose. No influence in rarity, anyone's opinion or it's cost.

 

Always thought people wanted rare cars because others didn't have them. But that rarity turns on itself. Now everyone wants and has rare cars so they aren't rare anymore. You are more likely to see an Asea in someone's garage than a Faggio. At first the Adder was a sought after car, now it is the most hated car so everyone jumps on the Entity which will probably be hated next since everyone seems to act hipster. (P.S. Get the car YOU like, not what others think is cool)

 

Also rare cars tend to be inferior to more common ones. The Funeral Hearse feels like an inferior Stainer, all the collector's edition vehicles are the lowest performance in its class, the manana is a cruising car. I get that some people like these traits, but I am fine with that. I am questioning people that wanna have all rare cars because they are rare.

 

I feel the point of rare cars is to grab attention from other players which for me doesn't last more than an hour until I replace it.

The only rare car I feel the need to hold onto is my Asea.

 

I got rid of my Principe Nemesis for a BALLER...

 

Sure it's rare, but it was too slow for me. Besides, I already own bikes.

I try to not be affected by what's rare or what other people have, just by what looks good to me. I'm not a hipster.

Only rare car i ever deliberately sought out was the tailgator. its a nice looking car and pretty good to drive. But i got rid because theres so many better cars in game. I primarily use my Cog and since i'm the only person i've ever seen driving one in free mode or jobs and i never see peds driving one so i guess that can be classed as rare. me personally i drive it 'cause i fkn LOVE it

I dont own em all. I just have cars I like. I have my sentinal convertible and sultan which some consider rare rides. And those are the 2 cars I use most simply because I like them the most

Any car can be rare if you paint it in a unique way.

If you have ever felt the need to get an ingame Award or an Achievement/Trophy, then you already know why people collect rare cars.

 

If Achievements/Trophies mean nothing to you and you don't understand the point, then you'll never understand the collecting of rare cars.

I would say It's just the thrill of the hunt and when someone finds a certain vehicle that is uncommon Online, I guess the feeling of accomplishing that they found the vehicle without help. The only rare cars that I have in my character's garage are a Hardtop Manana and a Benefactor Schafter. Yes, both are uncommon vehicles online, but I got them also for the other reason because I personally like them as vehicles in the game also.

I kinda see what you're saying. The only rare vehicles I actually still have are only there because I actually like them. I used to have all sorts but now I just have a Tailgater and a Bagger - my favourite sedan & motorcycle. Also the Cognoscenti if that's considered rare. I love that thing.

 

But yeah it was just about turning heads really. Not gonna lie.

Actually the Surano is my favorite car in GTA O so no I wasn't being a hipster when I said "I wanna be different" guess I could have explained it abit more in my original post

Because everyone driving the same vehicle is quite boring. It's nice when you happen to find a few friendly randoms that are talking over voice chat and you decide to meet up with them. When one pulls up in an Entity, one pulls up in an Adder, and another pulls up in another Adder, it's a nice feeling pulling up to them in a Buffalo Mk 2, an Asea, or a customized Blazer.

 

Of course, rarity will never be able to replace the feeling of enjoying a car, it just so happens that all of the "rare" cars I own are also ones that I enjoy having.

 

That's part of the reason that I don't own a Tailgater. Sure, it may be considered "rare" by others, but I just don't find it appealing to have or drive.

i have the cars i like. not the cars i need to win every class of race or a 4 door that does nothing but wait for heists to bring some meaning into its life. if i blew up all the cars in my garage the insurance to replace them all would be less than $10,000.

i could also care less about driving backwards to kill people.

Yes. Lower end cars are where it's at, unless you actually find racing fun.

I genuinely love every one of my cars and not a single one costs over $500 to replace. Racing is for chumps anyway, and I'll take on a Sports class race in my Buffalo any day.

 

It's also never bothered me when I have to explain what is special about "that blue color". I love the color, the story behind it, and the Epsilon Program in general, and I love the fact that I got to experience the hilarity of that side-quest where others didn't bother.
