Organized vigilantism becoming a thing...

I want to see a rise in Vigilante crews on social club and in-game.

You'd think the hundreds of LSPD crews would be doing it but they for the most part are the ones griefing low ranks in tanks and laughing way too loudly in game chat talkin' trash and using racial slurs and the like.

That's because they're trying to enact the LAPD as real as possible.

We've been running tanks for a while now but its great that people are starting to appreciate what we do.

It started way back during the LSC Money Glitch where we protected LSC from going bankrupt. Now, it's just expanded to the entire map. Set Curfews, run Lockdowns, stop people from money laundering by selling their adders, z-types, etc., clear out people blocking up traffic, etc. Today there were two people in Frogger don't know what the scam was but they kept trying to land on the roof near ammunation probably glitching ammo or something so they got blasted. Main discussion is going on here http://gtaforums.com/topic/672271-whats-your-opinion-on-how-to-run-tank-shifts/ for more details about the theory and background and what lies ahead for it.

Inspired by a recent recruit post, I find myself wondering how this community considers the ramifications of organized vigilante groups. If players begin to leap from server to server, connected by external communication like teamspeak or a party, determined to quell so called griefers and trolls, does this bode well for free roam death match as it is?

It occurred to me groups who focus on this type of game play, apparently in the name of justice, are in reality simply another gang hiding under a veneer of integrity. However, had production made a better effort to accommodate other styles of play, maybe the idea of vigilante justice would never even occur. It's a topic that interests me, forgive me if it strikes a negative chord.

We don't organize or try to be vigilantes, however that is what we do often in free mode. For me, I am good at what I do. So I do it to those who do it to weak. I don't try to have a super hero or vigilante mentality, but lets face it....there is a lot of asshats around and not enough people blowing them up. They are in almost every single lobby. 9 times out of 10 they instantly come for it anyways. The amount I kill them is usually way overkill. I don't find it boring smashing someone for longer periods of time.........their tears are bitter sweet.

Edit: To those who say we or people like myself are no better than griefers.....that is just moronic. There is zero logic in that.

You're no better than the griefer. You're holding griefers in check but who's holding you in check? What happens when you do something I think inhibits my fun when playing? There's the logic. Plus there's no cut and dry list of what constitutes someone being a griefer or just having some fun player killing. Its a slippery slope people and that's all I'm gonna say.

Well that's F^*&^*ng stupid. There is no one to hold me in check, but I don't do things that ruin peoples gaming experience other than those that are doing that to others. If they don't like it they are free to leave. If for example: I am fighting 4 people aimed at 1 low level and I decide to stop them and pick on all 4, you are going to tell me I am no better? It is that stupid liberal attitude that let's sh!tty people in the real world get away with stuff. If someones idea of fun is picking on others, then I will have fun with you. Your logic makes zero sense.

Your solution to punks picking on others is let them be, because we are no better than they are if we do something to stop them? You must be a bully. Mad because there are people out there that won't put up with it.

Logic?

The majority of players in GTA online troll and grief players in every free roam. I doubt a few people who fight back are in need of being held in check. sh*t, id join them in a second. Infact alot of times i have teamed up with randoms to take down idiots. Who for some strange reason get angry, go passive or leave games when they get a taste of the own medicine.

Thats like someone going around kicking everyone in the nuts all day laughing. And when he gets a nut shot he wants some sort of justice against it. My thoughts are, deal with it just like everyone else had to.

In old school gta's there used to be Vigilante missions and rewards. I really miss them.

Its a great idea, as one of these who likes destruction in multiplayer I actully enjoy it when people come after me, it turns into a challenge to take them down before they take me down. and then if they do take me down I chase for revenge. makes the game interesting anyway.
