Mother Nature took pity on me and gave me a nice sunny day when I wasn't busy, and the pollen levels are starting to drop so I don't feel too awful about washing it :)

See, that's what you should be going for. I don't know car prices outside of the US but if a VW hatch is in the same price range as the Honda's I'd go for that but I may be slightly biased :rol: I've only ever test driven Honda's but they are nice, I am pretty much forced to use one(Blista)to represent my car in-game since it's the only hot hatch in the game. I already tweeted R* my dismay about the appalling lack of modern BFs.

I don't even care that this would totally break the compact class, I want it.

I was also extremely annoyed at the lack of 90's sedans and hatchbacks in the game. I don't bother with e-mails, because I'm only one in a million who e-mails them.

And that GT6 car made me think about how weird future cars are getting. It's funny, but weird. What are you going to do when it rains? :/

Just petty problems I guess  but that last Golf tho. Looks amazing.

If it rains just drive faster and outrun the clouds. 400hp and permanent AWD in a Golf, if that's wrong I don't want to be right.

Haha  it actually looks like the car to outrun the rain. 400hp is great, too. Golfs are the only car that get better and better with each generation of them IMO. I hate all these new Citroens and Peugeots coming out that look like a retarded scientist made.

Golfs have always been a bit meh for me. There's too many 1.9 SDis knocking around and it seems to just blend in. Plus they get heavier every other week.

Money no object I'd have an Audi S3, but the spec I want is far more than my job will pay for so the Volvo stays for now

I saw your Volvo a bit further back, looked nice :)

I prefer these Volvo's:

Beautiful, them S40's. This was back when they started to discover car designs could have curves.

Indeed, I'm a fan of the classics but the newer ones just have a design edge imo, where a lot of car makers have started looking the same Volvo seemed to go off on one. I love the new S and V60s.

Mine with the summer wheels on is still a thing of beauty imo (biased I know)

And that personal plate to top it all off

Those blue brake calipers add a nice touch. Beautiful car. 11/10.

My family's current cars aren't anything interesting, but maybe the Skoda is. A red '12 plate Qashqai and a blue & black-wheeled Octavia Blackline.

Haha I like to tinker but I don't want to go too far, hence the calipers. I've also done a fair bit with LED lighting around the car, without doing the current trend of sticking those cheap Hellfrauds fairy lights all over them

Good idea. Keep it simple. Those LEDs sound like a nice touch :)We never tinker with our cars sadly, that's why I can't wait to be old enough to have my own license and my own car.

We owned an 04 Seat Alhambra, and the only thing we did with that was a sh*tty aftermarket CD player.

A Peugeot is pretty damn rare in the US and all the ones I've seen are old. They might not meet our safety standards or something IDK. I have never seen a Citroen IRL, I don't know that they have ever sold in the US. I'll just apply "looks like a retarded scientist made" to compact SUVs here as well as cars like the Toyota Yaris and Ford Fukkos.

Not as many of them here and what ones there are are mostly TDI Golf's and Rabbits. Not as many GTIs, I can tell the non-GTIs because they are behind me

The Audi never even crossed my mind because I knew it was out of my price range. I did look at the Volvo C30 though, nice but also a little too pricey for me. True the new GTI is 300 pounds heavier but it's in good places like airbags, traction control and 4 wheel ABS. I was loathe to let anyone ride in the `97 because endangering my life in in an unsafe car is one thing but subjecting others to it would be wrong.

I like the MK1 Ford Focus and what kind of compact SUVs do you get?

Although I've seen ONE of these since it's release, it's still pretty f*cking retarded. Look at it.

Mk1 Focus, I had 2 of those.... 1.8 TDCi's. One of the reasons I went for the Volvo is it's based on a Focus chassis so I knew the mechanics were right, but mines got Volvo's own engine and gearbox, and a far better interior. For anyone after a sub 2k car there is very little better than a focus imo

Got this first

Replaced it with this

I was about to ask about those wheels. Was there a deal on them at Halfords?

As another option for a first car, a 1.4 Ford Focus 3dr would be nice, post facelift. Maybe a 1.6 for a bit of added power.

We used to have a 1998 Ford Fiesta 1.25l 16v Flight.

Haha as I said I was young and a bit misguided, made up for it with the OZs on the 2nd one though (you don't want to know how much they cost).

Yeah, let's not disclose that

Ever thought about a Focus saloon? They're nice.

719913.jpg

Something like this as a first car would be great. A 1.4 LX. I have so many favourites for a first car  We'll find quotes, and the one with the cheapest insurance wins.

I don't really like the saloons, if you want one look at a Mondeo.

When I was that sort of age, Diesels fell into an insurance hole it seems, so try the 1.8s as a curveball option. They're also a lot cheaper to tax and obviously better on fuel. Depending on budget, some nice Diesels out there, that black one was a top of the range Ghia - Heated Leather, parking sensors, climate control. Beautiful car

Mmmmm, top spec.

drooling-homer-simpson.jpg

Our neighbour has (since we moved in, 2005) had a history of owning Focus's, Fiesta's and Mondeo's. The youngest one swapped her 07 Fiesta for a Peugeot 207 and she wants her Fiesta back.

Also, diesels are more for blasts down the motorway. Maybe I'll have a job that's further away, requiring a diesel or not. I've seen that black sh*t burst out the exhaust after you haven't floored it in a while. Ewww.

I actually don't mind the Focus, a friend got Fukkos burned into my brain. I don't really like SUV's at all so they're all kinda ugly to me but there are definitly top contenders.

Start with the most famous. Walter Whites Pontiac Aztek, maybe the ugliest car ever.

I used to time that for passing Cyclists... especially as the focus exhaust points down it'd bounce it off the road. Sadly the Volvos got that DPF garbage in it so those days are history :(

The longer runs thing is something of a myth tbh, I only do about 4k a year but where as my D5 does 42mpg a T5 would hit mid teens on the same running, add in it's cheaper to tax, insure and service, and I'm more than happy with it. Lost a little performance over a T5 (180bhp vs 225) but unless your doing a lot of track days then imo you won't notice it, especially with the derv's torque

Wow, 42 is great, especially on only 4k per year. Our Alhambra 1.9TDi only did school runs and it suffered a bit. We did manage to hit 50 MPG on holiday though

Now we have a petrol 1.6 Qashqai which does better. I walk to school and I'm not in it much so I wouldn't know the MPG, and the MPG screen is never on the dash, only the screen that shows how much fuel is left.

Our Octavia is a diesel, used for my dad's work, somewhere down the motorway. He gets around 40ish MPG (I think) out of it, like your Volvo.

It's not bad for a 2.4 and 5 cylinders lol, cruises nicely which helps a lot, 80mph on the M-Way is dead on 2k rpm and quiet as a mouse. With the DPF I make sure she gets exersized regularly, all legal of course ;)

Sounds like you treat her well ;)

My dad's Octavia is a 2.0TDi vRS and he gives it a good blast down roads when he takes it out.

It's basically a twin of this. Only difference between this pic and the actual car is most of the number plate.

It's actually good for an engine to give them a workout, too much low speed work will cause them to clog up and become sluggish.

And yeah, I don't smoke, hardly drink, am single, pretty much all my pay goes on that car. It's like my baby  Sad I know

Not sad at all, you have something to invest your money in, so it sounds good to me . I'll be putting a fair bit into my cars once I'm old enough to have one. I like my other neighbour's Civic coupe. It's a rare manual (all the ones on AutoTrader are autos!) and lowered on possibly stock Honda wheels. I'll be putting some time and money into my car, but I can't forget the most important mod.

I'm driving my grandfather's Honda Pilot right now, but this is gonna be my daily driver when I finish it. All it needs is tires, a paint job, a new windshield, and a tune up.
