Am I the only one disturbed by many players' trash talk?

 

Listening in on some conversations is quite the comedy. N-this, n-that.

 

 

A fifteen year old pale virgin with acne can't quite carry the n-word.

Couple years back my homey was sitting alone in his living room playing xbox. At one point he said something into the mic , and a couple of English sounding kids shouted back at him "f*ck you yank, go back to your own country!". He was sitting in his apartment in Brooklyn. The moral of the story is, the internet is full of stupid children. Dont let it get to you. I play with RL friends all the time, never with randoms, If I play alone my mic isnt plugged in, if someone is shouting or singing and its coming through my TV, I mute them.

I completely agree with this. It's easy to act big and bad when you are sitting 500 miles away without any threat of getting your face mopped.

 

I honestly think that most people who talk trash online are the same people who get picked on all day in RL. Then they come home, turn on their console or PC, and get to be "GOD".

Of course I don't go around calling anyone nigga, I mostly say it to my friends or when I get mad.... And I will go back to school... In about 2 days. That's when we start again. o_ o

Yeah Ive said the exact same thing before, some of the people on here say stuff that if they said it in a bar or club or on the street, they'd get their skull caved in....but my point is lots of people are offended by lots of things. Some people are offended by mixed race marriages, some people are offended by atheism, some people are offended when they see a black newsreader. Im offended every day when I watch Fox News or read these forums, but you just gotta learn to let it go!

It bothers me a little when I hear pre-teens using that kind of language, sure; but then, I hear about the same from most of the kids at work. Every other word is either f*ck or worse. I'll admit, it's kind of jarring.

 

Adults (adults ... do play Online, don't they?) should probably know better, but whatever.

 

I can't act superior because I swear. A lot. But I don't do it on the incredibly rare occasion that I'm using the headset. I mean, there's a time and a place - my friends and family could care less, but other people might not agree. Single Player is a different thing, though; the option is there to skip the cutscenes. It's probably not an excuse.

 

But the box clearly states it's a game for players aged 18+. At least here in the UK.

No, not quite the same. But even that would make me "uncomfortable". I was raised not to use that word, and even the "ending in a" version makes me uncomfortable. Where that discomfort comes from I don't know. To me "nigga" does not and will never equal "dude". It may not carry the same racist venom as the parent word, But it still seems very disrespectful to me.

 

And all things being equal, and "all men created equal", if that word would more than likely get my ass kick for using it, then it should be verboten in every context. I hear two grown black men use that word, yes, I loose a little respect for them. I don't give a sh*t if it is a "cultural norm" for them, Until someone reading the news on CNN or Al Jezeera uses the term to address the current Prez of the USA, then IT IS VERBOTEN.

I was walking with a friend one time, he's white, Irish, 6'4, wide as a barn door, red hair, covered in tats, mean looking dude, we were walking down the street one time, couple of black dudes walked past, we heard one of them say "damn look at the size of that nigga". He's the least black dude you'll ever see. The moral of that story is...I dunno.
