Spawned as NPC?

So i was down on the beach checking for the tailgater behind the tennis courts & swapping sessions to get it to spawn...

 

on about my 5th lobby my character jumps into my car (at this stage i thought i accidentally pressed triangle ) i tried to turn right and when the car wouldn't turn i figured the right analogue stick was broken, i swapped controllers and still had no control of the car, i sat the controller down and watched my character proceed to make left and right turns, stopping for traffic lights and following other NPC's around the city. This lasted for about 10 minutes until i changed sessions, once in the new session i regained full control of my character.

 

has anyone else encountered this before?

I haven't had this happen in GTA V, but in GTA IV multiplayer, there was a glitch that allowed you to get into the back seat of an NPC's car and they'd drive you around the city. Maybe some variation of this glitch happened to you.

I once had something similar happen in Vice City. A carjacker entered my car and started driving, but my character didn't get out. I've only had this happen once ever though.

Yeah, I've seen this glitch before. It's basically your guy as an NPC. Pretty funny, actually.

Sort of related: I happened to hop in my car the same time Jimmy was going to use it. I got to ride around as passenger as he drove around aimlessly.
