Why can you only join a specific job via actually going to it in the m

Why can you only join a specific job via actually going to it in the map? If I want to go to a specific job through the pause menu, I can only do it if I choose to host the job. Why? What is Rockstar's logic behind this? Surely all it does is encourage people to start more new games instead of compiling them together with others, enabling you to actually have enough people to start a game? And of course having to travel half way across the map just to join a job that is already populated is a pain in the ass.

There is another option in the pause menu called "join"

^^That, and you don't have to travel across the map to start a job. Just put the cursor over it on the map and press square (PS3) or X (360).

But that only lets you join a random job of a specific type, not a specific job, if that makes sense.

I would like to be able to join a Coveted lobby thats 3/4 full but I'd have to travel to the marker, then when you get there is says its not the right time of day.

 

If you do it through the pause menu you can only host and sometimes never get anyone joined.

 

I sympathise with OP.

 

And I've only done Coveted like 5 or 6 times so it's still fun for me. But not alone...
