Matchingmaking Nightmare

By far GTA:O has the worst matchmaking system I've come across in any game to date. And I cannot figure out what the actual problem is in all my attempts to try and fix this issue.

 

My brother finally purchased himself a copy of GTA V, he is in another city and it is actually nice to communicate and play with him online on a regular basis but this is a task in its own dimension.

 

While he is a low level player, he sends me invites to his available missions, him lacking guns he feels his missions are more fitting to play than mine. Fair enough, I'll join him and help - pretty much easy for me to do.

 

I get an invite to a MISSION: Daemon run. Accept the job and land up in an empty capture lobby. Ok... He said it showed I was joining on his side then it said I had left before the green joined appeared.

This has now happened a few times with missions specifically. Usually sometimes I land up in empty parachuting lobbies.

Why on earth is it sending me to lobbies I didn't accept?

 

I mainly join games instead of hosting them. Amongst the thousands of people that are playing I never can, without wasting 20 minutes of my time, fill a lobby up. Be this a deathmatch or capture etc... And speaking of captures, no one is playing them.

Last night I used the join job option in the online menu, chose capture from the list and out of the 15 attempted tries, all were empty except one, which only held 3 people.

 

I use the same join mission option from the online menu, I've been placed in empty LTS and Captures already. I hardly believe that I am the only one wanting to do a mission yet land up in something I was not looking for in the first place.

 

I've posted on both this forum and the community forums on R* site about internet connectivity. Needless to say, their site holds very little viable information.

At this point it has been trial and error, enable a setting see how it performs, good or bad and then go from there.

 

I'm still sitting with a problem where I join a lobby and one player will have joining next to their name, they never seem to join on my side as when the session launches I get a timed out error and kicked to storymode.

 

I still cannot access online through the storymode loading menu by clicking X. I cannot use the GO option in the online menu - I can only get online via the invite only session.

 

I've done some considerable research on the my internet, and this is not the only game I play online, however this is the only game I experience so many problems.

sounds to me like it's your connection.

I had a lot of problems at first but then I saw this post on a dutch gaming site (since i'm dutch) about having to change my DNS from my ISP's standard to Google's public DNS because somehow my ISP was messing up matchmaking for GTA 5

 

dno where you're at so I dno if this will work for you or if you should use another one

but anyway this is the one i'm using now and it's working fine for me.

 

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8

Secondary DNS:8.8.4.4

 

just go to your connection settings on your console and change the DNS from automatic to manual

than enter these numbers (or some other public DNS near you perhaps)

Rockstar's biggest mistake was separating modes and lobbies. Everything you can do in a mode should be possible in the free-roam lobby.

 

Get your brother and a couple friends into a lobby then you're good to go. No more reloading the game every 2-5 minutes, just accepting jobs and getting to it.

 

I don't know why the hell people ever started throwing the term MMO around. This game has learned nothing from MMOs and not much from RPGs.

If I just change my DNS on my ps3 the thing fails.

 

If I change my router as well it works.

 

It's currently set at the 8.8.8.8 ones now.

 

Previously I used DNS settings I got from my ISP.

Oh just some more information about this setup.

 

It's a wireless connection, I have a router in my room which connects directly to a hotspot in my ceiling. And I am South African and my nat type in type 2.

What is the ideal internet connection speed one should have for GTA O?
