No pro-bono or legal aid lawyer will even look at this case. They also need evidence which YOU must provide. Has people even spoke to a lawyer who is saying to speak to lawyers? Their not free. A 10 minute phone call is about $50. So you will spend $50 to get back a $20 card.

 

So let me re do it.

 

1. Ring rockstar.

2. have bank on call

3. have lawyer on call

4. get given $2 million of in game money from Rockstar.

5. pay lawyer $250 in fees.

6. Go on forums and whinge and cry and say Rockstar not paying my lawyer fees because their not legally required.

7. Have people laugh at you on said forums.

This whole thing has been botched by Rockstar. For people who had barely any money, this money hack was a true gift. They got to buy some cars and stuff that they get to keep. For those who had a good amount of money before (like myself and friends), they got screwed.

 

We knew it was a hack, but at the time, we all received about 20M from some stranger. Because we didn't know how long we'd have it, we spent as much as possible that night. We assumed that Rockstar would either take back the money we hadn't spent, or take back the stuff we bought. At the worst, we're back to where we started. We weren't sure they would, because this was at the very beginning of the "money hack". The guy convinced us that he glitched somehow and it was only a one time thing, so that we wouldn't report him. By the time this thing developed into what it was ($2B bounties and noobs having expensive cars) we knew we were screwed. By screwed, I mean we were going to lose the rest of the money we hadn't spent and maybe the cars we had bought. They couldn't take something that no longer existed, right?

 

When I came on after the patch, I had no money left. I still had the cars, but they took the millions left that was given to me, plus my original money (~$3M) to cover what I had spent. They ended up taking less than I had been given, which doesn't make sense. When this first started happening, there were no warnings or anything like that. As I said, the guy who gave us the money convinced us it was a one time thing.

Terms and conditions or small print are written to protect Rockstar yes, but you are right in the fact where if they are committing crimes such as fraud, it doesn't matter what it says in their fine print, because it is illegal. It's like me handing out a leaflet saying 'I might rob your house and bank accounts, after you've bought stuff from me on ebay' but me going and doing it actually doesn't matter either way, if I get caught, I'm going to prison.

It's not Fraud because if you read the T and C's on their website of using GTA: Online, the minute you made a character you accepted the right that they have all rights to change, edit, remove, manipulate and tinker with anything and EVERYTHING on GTA:O. You don't "Own" GTA:O you have a licence to use it, by their rules, which you accepted, I'll get the entire Terms and Conditions if you'd like it, if you took this to a lawyer I think he'd laugh in your face, I know I bloody would.

Well how about this. If you think for one second that Rockstar have committed fraud with GTA , and the only person to notice this is "thecrazypenguin" from GTAF, then you're welcome to that opinion. I personally wouldnt take legal advice from ANYONE I met on the internet. Next time you get in trouble with the law, don't hire a lawyer, just take your tablet into the courtroom and let "thecrazypenguin" represent you, see how that goes.

so yes, anyone else had issues with money theyd actully paid for being taken on top of the hacked funds? Seems they better sort out the system if its indeed making this mistakes as they might be hit with a great big legal kick in the balls otherwise.

 

That's why I don't buy that piece of sh*t cash cards, make R* work for their money. On day one I bought cash cards, spent around $20 - then lost it via a bug. I spent the money on a house and a car, and was left with around 250k, and when I came back to the game - no house, no car. But I still had 250k. Contacted R* and after 2 weeks all they did was question me and ask for a video of the bug, expecting me to 24 hour record every single time I play the game?

 

I ended up being one of the lucky ones. Only 20 dollars, AND I got the money back. Not because R* refunded me, but because I did a forced Paypal claim against Microsoft and MICROSOFT gave me the money back. Not even so much of an apology from Rockstar.

 

My suggestion, don't buy that garbage. You pay $20 for what? 1.25m? I have 40 million (free) from Los Santos glitching, and yeah yeah people can go "omg cheater you glitched", but guess what. I deserve my money being removed from me, and R* could give 2 f*cks about it - I'm not the only one. They remove the billions of dollars, but leave people with their LSC glitched money. Is that the kind of company you want to hand your money to? Where you PAY from your wallet to support them, and when a bug occurs they either take their times to patch it and not even remove the money from people? The "hacks" situation was the only time they removed the money, there were far more money glitches. Race glitches - Mission glitched (I've made about 10m from Mixed up with Coke, maybe 15m from Rooftop Rumble). None of those people had their money removed.

 

This is not saying "don't spend your money", to be honest, spend it on whatever the f*ck you want. Its your money. But in the end of the day, make them WORK for it. Spend it on a DLC, where you know you're not going to lose that money. I saw a thread yesterday of some kid that had about 1 million, and started modding cars, he gave the car to his friend, and a tank blew him up. So he tried again, and was blown up again. In the end he was left with 100k. That's $20 cash cards that would have been lost in 10 minutes.

 

As for legal advice. If the purchase happened before 40 days, and if you paid via Paypal, then you can still get a refund. Otherwise I say just drop it, because the legal fee's and time wasted are going to be far worst than whatever you spent on this video game.

Here's a hypothetical situation for you, in a similar ball park (monetary) as the OP's problem.

 

You go to Subway, order a chicken <whatever> sub. You receive said sub, only to find there is no chicken to be found. Are you going to take them to court over that to get your money back or a replacement sub, or are you going to complain to the person who served you/the manager?
