There's a CRATE inbound! No, really!

I did wonder what was happening here, went to a green dot the other day for the first time, killed a couple of npcs who were guarding the area in a merc style jeep and a couple of players who also came to try and claim it, but then nothing ever showed up, flare was there and I was there for a good 15 mins in the green marker but....nothing.

is this a bug then?

Whenever it says crate imbound just wait like 30 seconds if it doesn't say "a crate has been dropped" its not coming trust me!

Good to know there actually ARE crate drops online now (somewhere). Haven't seen any for quite some time.

 

Except for the broken circles. Too many ppl too close too early. Will they ever learn?

The last Crate notification I saw was for that empty green circle I posted a pic of.

 

Days ago.

 

Have not seen one since.

 

To sum up: Crate is inbound but not really if anybody breaths near their tv while within 2 miles of the green circle. Now, Crate aren't even inbound!

 

There is no rhyme or reason!

 

Unless Take 2 Interactive was pissed and didn't like the idea of Rockstar handing out free money and RP like that.

I miss crate drops in solo because rockstar took them away and I rather not have to fight over a box of weapons with complete strangers.

 

Do they even drop playing solo in private mode?

They used to drop in Solo and Invite Only modes. Pretty sure Solo is gone but not sure about Invite Only.

 

I just wish they would fix the glitch already.

I saw my first crate drop in weeks last night! (it was in a public lobby btw)

 

Unfortunately it was in Paleto Bay and some guy was already there before it even dropped.

Public lobbies... Last night, I snagged a special crate (5000RP, $5000, minigun, body armor) and saw two other regular crates actually drop. The night before, I snagged one regular crate (750RP, $750).

I've also been seeing more armored cars lately. Not the one-every-thirty-seconds spawning, but they've been showing up here and there over the last few days.

 

Also--on a crate-related note--there was a time I came out of Simeon's dock garage after dropping off an export, and the "inbound crate" circle spawned with me already inside it. The crate still dropped. Not sure what that does to the widely held belief that crates don't drop if you're inside the circle, but I've experienced proof to the contrary.

I don't want to miss an opportunity to obtain something which I might not ever be able to get again. I don't go after crate drops because I've tried about 3 times and gave up after about 30 minutes of the crate not dropping.

And this is the problem with Rockstar - you get a "special crate" and it contains a temporary weapon, as much RP as you get from two x 4 minute Route 68 runs at level 60 or so (if you leave timer to 4mins before crossing the line) and enough cash to buy quarter of a Chrome paint job. This is part of the reason people wanted glitched money - the reward vs cost is totally out of whack due to cash cards most likely...

If you're playing just for money and RP, maybe collecting crates isn't for you. For me, I enjoy it as it's a reason to have a random race and battle other players to get to the crate first.

Oh I agree completely about the enjoyment side of things but in a game all about theft and basically being a career criminal the cost of things you can buy seems well out of whack with the money you make - ie. sell a top of the range car = $9000, paint your car in Race Yellow (let alone modify it) = approx $15000. I think modification costs are at least double what they should be and again I expect a large part of that is the hoped revenue from people buying cash cards.

so y cant rockstar fix their game. its very annoying. we should have crate drops at sea which gives us a reason to use boats. we should have more random events that actually work. nothing has been added to freemode since release... oh no wait, sometimes shop keepers pull a shotgun. great!

That actually happened to me before they even "added" it. I was also on several occasions shot by another shopper.

you are correct. instead of adding content to freemode rockstar are stripping us of fun things to do. and people wonder y players just run around just killing. obviously cause there's nothing else to do

Yeah. I jump a lot of sessions because I continually go to races, missions and deathmatches then get put back into a random session. I'll always hang out for a few minutes before going to another race/mission/DM to see if there are any bounties or if anything will be popping up (crates/trucks). If one does. I'll go for whatever it is...then hang around for a bit longer to see if anything else will be triggered.
