Agreed, especially as it never drops sometimes!
I find that if its going to drop its usually within 5 mins or so of the inbound message.

 

Has anyone got more that 18/25 of the crate chaser award? Im not sure if that includes special crates

If some stupid fool gets deep into the zone right after it lights up, you can forget about the drop every happening.

I got the crate chaser award. Special Crate is a separate reward; pick up just one to get it.

I've now seen a crate that won't drop because somebody drove NEAR the green circle. Not into, just near.

 

Discussed this on the mic with the guy and we both kind of laughed at the idea somebody here put out that it's a trap.

I've never even seen the special crate drop actually work since Online was launched.

if you arrive and kill the people before it says 'a crate has been dropped' then nothing will spawn, happened to me 3 times then i eventually waited, and got myself that tshirt.

crate dropped like 1 or 2 times but after that it was just green space or sth, i suspect it is lag coz once i got to the green space i saw dead bodies so i assume that it was raided already and just ignored all drops after tat

It won't drop if someone is camping in the green area.

Sorry, but that's simply false. It's a very common rumor here, yet I have been standing in the drop zone a few times and the crate still appeared.

Skyline, you're incorrect. Make sure you know before you post. I don't know if you're trolling or not but it's verified fact that for many or most, camping inside the green area will preclude the box from dropping.

Ive also seen it when one hasn't been collected (I didn't get there in time and no one else seemed bothered) that the gang members took it.
I seem to remember there being a message saying something like that

I'll not bother if its an open lobby, if it happens when we're playing as a crew though I'll usually nip and get it

Just keep a note of where it is though...if you see a person camping in the green area prior to the drop...you can forget about it.

They have been extremely rare for me since launch.

Once, I was in Paleto Bay and the crate inbound message comes up, I check the map and it was going to be dropped in Mirror Park. So I get a heli from the police station and fly all the way down. I land on the street and proceed on foot, so I see this yellow marker around the crate and as soon as I step on it it takes me to a lobby, I had forgotten I bookmarked a custom job to try later, I mash the B button to back out, and the f*cking crate is gone. lol.

I just had a Special Crate drop not too long ago in Raton Canyon with a nice shootout with a dozen Ballas wankers, gave me free $6000, 5000RP, mini gun & body "armour". Didn't enjoy the mini gun too much because I automatically got signed out of PSN, network error, FUUUU.jpg

i got a special crate last night myself. it was f*cking EPIC!!! i was trolling some dude with a helicopter. so we hovered at the maverics max alltitude in the center of the map so i could just fly there quickly to get it. 3 hours until special crate drop. it drops i jumped outta the helichopter and dove straight for it. never pulled my chute and aimed rite for the box. smashed thru it,collected it, died. all while some kid was running for the crate. it was THEE most epic crate i ever got. last i heard of the kid in the helichopter was a faint explosion in the background.

Good to know there actually ARE crate drops online now (somewhere). Haven't seen any for quite some time.

 

Except for the broken circles. Too many ppl too close too early. Will they ever learn?
