I for one haven't completely stopped playing but have spent less time on. There's just not much to do aside from missions and griefing after you have all ur cars and guns hooked up. I used to spend about 2-4 hours online now it's more like 40 mins to an hour tops. The more I play this game the emptier it feels I dunno for me personally me thinks it's time for a week or 2 break.

The past two days I've noticed many people on my friend list playing other games. Out of the 80 people online yesterday, only like 15 were playing gta and just two weeks ago there were about 55 on my friend list who were playing. Is it just me or are people leaving?

All of my friends have either stopped playing or moved on to other games/new consoles. I'm also starting to get bored. There haven't been any new missions since release, and there are no hiests. Content creator would be keeping things fresh, except that matchmaking outside of Rockstar Created or Verified maps is broken. It also doesn't help that the maps they did verify are absolute trash. If they verified at least 10 good death matches and races that'd improve my interest in the game a bit.

^i guess we had to give up on gta sometime. We need more content

The game felt barebones at launch and after nearly 4 months, the only content we've got was beach bum, capture, content creator (beta) and the Christmas stuff.

It doesn't feel 'continually expanding' so far and I'm losing faith that R* will live up to their word.

We need more content and game-changing updates.

Lack of content kills this game. If rockstar decided to create mmorpg with grinding they should have provided us with bigger amount of missions and much more customization for our characters. As for now by the time you reach 50 you are bored with always repeated missions. Rockstar just wasn't ready for this type of game. Gta online will die soon without immediate huge dlc, granting new customization options, missions and heists.

I've always wondered why we can rank up to lvl 1000 if there's nothing after lvl 120.

I'm guessing because Rockstar will bring out new content that requires levels higher than 120 to unlock?

I'm still playing it, and there are still plenty of people playing it. As long as those lobbies are full to the brim of people, I think that's enough indication. :)

I'd like to see what the official figures are now. I know GTA Online was number one in the Xbox rankings just before Christmas. There seems to be more noobs, or people starting new characters in my recent sessions. Anyway, it's inevitable people will drift off to other newer games as they come out. Very few people stay laser-focused on one title. I expect heists to arrive shortly, then an announcement of DLC.
We really need new dlc

We'll be patient, but considering the hype for heists I doubt we will be disappointed. Better off for it to be ironed out than wrinkled like an elephant.

Damn I bought the game for the Deathmatches.

I guess I should've bought it for the promised Heists, then I could have something to complain about cause I feel left out. lol

f*ck that. People are just pussies. I still play everyday. Grinding away. Good riddance to all the crybabies. Deuces!

The game has been out for a while now, and a lot of people move on regardless of the quality/problems of any game.

Plus a lot of people are just sick of waiting for the heists. My IRL mates playing GTA with me went down from 10 to 4 since launch. I am almost certain that by the end of next month, it'll just be 2 of us.

At the moment I am kinda focused on making back 10mil and once I'm there, I will probably also stop playing the game for while. At least until the heists arrive. Not much point playing the game at the moment if we get hardly any decent content.

I have. I could care less about this game anymore especially with next gen out. I had 2 billion & bought everything I wanted to buy. None of my friends are still playing so theres nothing left for me anymore.

I'm losing interest in this thread more than playing GTAO..

And losing a few of the not so dedicated people is never a bad thing, makes room and better playing for the others...

Heck no people are not losing interest. From what i've seen people are coming back because the game is like it was early on. Minus the server issues. Boards are thriving with people working together again. It's not an all out war zone like it was with everybody being filthy rich.

People who talk about how they're happy about less people playing gta are ignorant

No you're ignorant for discounting their reasoning, most of the people quitting are the kind of players we don't want around anyways..

It's interesting reading this interview about Online and hearing of all the things mentioned that aren't in game yet.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/423020/gta-v-interview-rockstar-north-president-leslie-The Benz-on-gta-online/

Some quotes that caught my attention:

"A dream of ours is, when you finish the game, you press a button, and it's made a film of your game. Maybe one day. It depends on lots of things."

"You can go online, buy some shares in a car company, target that company's cars, blow them up so the insurance will replace them and the stock price will go up. Everything's tied in, the same as it is in single-player."

"...once we get the first batch of content out - which is going to be a lot; hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of missions..."

"They're all there, it's all ready to go. And underwater's kind of cool. I think we're going to find that a lot of people like underwater, so I think it's an area that we might utilize in future."

"Initially, they'll be fairly straightforward heists, but they will get more complex as time goes on."

"If you're in a race, you could call in an air strike and take out whoever's in first place."

"So you could call the bikers, and say, "Send over a couple of bikers, we're going to do a job," and they'll come and help you."

"Usually we cut quite a lot out from multiplayer. We haven't (in GTA Online). That's not to say we might not in the next little while."

"We're just going to add on new things to it, new places all the time. We've set this up so there are no limitations."

"We want it to last forever."

I've done all of the good missions and races and deathmatches...I still play but I feel like there's nothing to do but freemode since replaying missions isn't exactly fun. Racing still keeps me interested but this isn't supposed to be a racing game lol.

GTAO is a jack-of-all trades and master of none. I haven't found a GTA title yet that could legitimately hold my attention for very long, to be honest.

If you want a shooter, play Battlefield, if you want to race, play Forza, play Payday if you want to rob banks, sports games for sports, etc, because GTA falls short in all those fields except in the field of unbridled chaos, which apparently isn't how Rockstar wants the game played anymore.

I haven't given up on the game. I do at online still but I really took to single player more now since online is becoming stale.

I set goals for myself in single player like reaching 100% completion before new SP content is released. Also, I've come to see how much more is in single player than most of us have seen. There are so many side missions and misc. activities I had no idea about until I stepped away from online.

Don't get me wrong, I have millions online and I'm rank 128 so it's not becUse I'm a newb and I'm upset, GTAO is really dead for now

most of the people quitting are the kind of players we don't want around anyways..

And how exactly did you establish that, exactly ?

Me and all my mates are working professionals and all have dumped money into the cash cards (hence supporting the game in probably the most relevant way : financially). Six of them have already left and certainly none of us ever partook in the DNS/hacking nonsense. Most left due to the lack of heists and the ridiculous job Rockstar did during the all affair.

But it's not really relevant since players with money who aren't cheating and got sick of waiting for promised content are not desirable members of the community anyway...

lol k.

Yeahh, doing the same things everyday does get a bit dull. I went back to playing New Vegas yesterday, finishing up Old World Blues (that X-8 quest is soooo annoying!)

We need more content in GTA Online. Or just more options with the content we have. This game has a lot much potential to be great... but the devs need to get things straightened out. ._.

Lack of content, lack of new content, lack of options... Game is ok if you can use your imagination but almost all of the structured content is lacking...

With their budget they should be releasing new missions and content packs at least once a month. Forget cash cards, just have vanity items as paid dlc...

I've lost interest, though not completely. Has nothing to do with money, had double digit millions before being gifted money and have 15 mil after selling my 20 upgraded chradders. There's just nothing to really do anymore. Missions are a bore as ive done all of them more times than I care to count, free roam was fun but even that's lost it's luster compared to A) the first week or GTAO, which was one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had. B) Battlefield 4, Warframe and Black Flag. I'll probably come back if/when heists ever go live, but until then I'll be in greener pastures. Even before I had lost interest, most of my friends and friendslist has long since moved on.

Anyone saying the lost of interest is due to the money purge is missing the point. For some, money might have been the last straw that had them leave, but the money was just a symptom of the true sickness that plagues GTAO: the lack of any really meaningful gameplay updates.

I lost interest since I found out how the character creation worked, I lost even more interest on the lack of clothing and the removing of police vehicles

you guys act like it's your game and u created it. If people don't do what you want them to do then they are automatically wrong right? Some of the reasons are good anyway unlike people like you. They can do whatever they want, and you can't control them. You will never be satisfied because you want everyone to do exactly what you want them to do.

They need a content update. I've played the hell out of all the missions and survivals. TDM and racing(have all unlocks) have gotten stale, considering tdm is basically every free roam session now. Unlocked all the weapons and have the cars with upgrades that I want. Have tank and Buzzard. I'm taking a break until they release some dlc.

It's interesting to me that people are saying that a lack of new content is why they're drifting away. In the three and bit months since GTA Online went up, we've had the Beach Bum DLC, the capture modes, and the content editor added. In my experience of COD and Battlefield (though less so in the latter) you're lucky to get ANYTHING within the first few months, let alone for free.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't be bored, or you shouldn't move on (especially in the wake of the next gen consoles), because maybe what Rockstar have added isn't enough for you, and that's fine. It just intrigues me as an excuse when compared to other massively popular games.

That said, GTA Online has my attention until Titanfall is released, then i might make the move on myself.

China Rising came out for BF4. That was free if you pre-ordered. Its not the fact that other games havent or dont release as much as GTA has, its the fact everyone is playing the sh*t out of the game. I have over 11 days played online already. Thats 264 hours of playtime. Content creator/capture mode is a gimmick to look like they are adding content. Most of the created content sucks ass since the options are limited for creation. Capture mode doesnt interest me either; Campfest 2014.
