Going to the Gym

I searched the forums to see if there was a thread on this already and was surprised. I think a gym has a lot of potential in this game and can be useful so I made this thread. They can make one big location to open the gym in and have it be a safe zone where NPC and players could use it inside. They can also open up the little gym at the beach. These activities would give small amounts of RP as well and can unlock clothing and improve your characters stats plus gameplay. There would be a limit to how many things you can do per day unless you're superman or something.

Activities

 

Weights / pull ups / push ups.. ect - Can improve strength stat and maybe even change physical appearance overtime depending on persistence and workout choices.

Yoga - Can improve breath control/lung capacity and make it so you can land on your feet easier when falling and better balance yourself.

Punching bag / speed bag - Can improve stamina. This activity would be somewhat objective base and would keep score on how you hit the punching bag as presented on screen. You would be able to unlock boxing gloves in which you can keep in your melee inventory and would allow you to actually box in stance and throw quick jabs, hooks and uppercuts rather than kicking and pushing. Like parachutes they would be available in different colors after unlocking.

Cardio workouts - Improve stamina obviously and can slightly improve running speed overtime as well as biking speed.

 

All of these activities done together in one session can help make your character slightly less ragdoll like over time and would allow you to get up quicker when hit by an object or vehicle.

Extra activity.. table tennis, because why not.

There are a lot of things to be done in GTA online before they can start implementing stuff like this but I just wanted to share an idea that would work well in this game and would bring something different to the online community, giving players a break from endless missions and endless freeroam fights while doing something productive for their online experience.

Yes, I remember having to buy a new controller because of destroying my X button by vigorously tapping to go faster on the treadmill at level 10..

 

@ OP

I would also love to have a gym online since everyone has almost the same physique, I've yet to see fat or muscly players. Everyone's just lean which kinda sucks. Maybe it'll be put in the future

I love the idea personally, it's functional and fairly simple implement (except maybe changing the character appearance). But I think that literally any new ways for players to interact with the San Andreas environment and any new buildings that we can get opened up and accessible is a step toward major improvements to the online re-playability.

im sure they can make the character to gain some body mass or get fat without looking cartoonish like SA.

 

there are fat npc, i dont see why all our characters have to be all slim.

I said that there were muscular and fat NPCs, these models are already in the game. if we were able to chose from the already existing models... let's say you could make your character either fat, lean or really jacked like those guys on the beach... why would this require more resources then?

Lolllll, and there it is - first rule of foruming, whenever someone refers to someone else as a kid/child/whatever, it's usually because they themselves are the youngster.

 

And yeah, was trying to prove a point, the point of this whole thread - you might have noticed if you weren't too busy obsessing over random guy's dicks - they wont let you alter your toon's build because it would be too system-intensive. Too prove my point I linked to a GTA preview from early last year where R* themselves say just that.

About the engine: I agree on the part that it's too much if players were able to have individual bodies (from doing gym workouts)

but if they used the bodies that NPCs already have, why would it cause any problems? This is what I'm trying to say.

 

But if Rockstar said that they are not gonna implement such features it's a different story, then there's not much to argue about here beside my sexuality, which seems to bug you a lot .

No need for the arguments, discussions don't need to offend people. Someone you call an idiot will never say they were wrong and say your right anyway, vice versa. Private messages make more sense for this stuff.

 

To stay on topic, I still say it's possible to incorporate gyms into the game, impossible is a strong word, it just has to be done in a certain way if issues arise. Obviously they can only do what is possible as far as the features, Rockstar has planned to carry on the online experience onto the future with different updates leading to more possibilities.
