Changed to free aim and is struggeling

God morning!

I just recently changed to free aim as i started a second character, and im having a hard time not to die. Also of course its a big change to go from taking down 20 officers with a assault shotgun in auto aim (with my first character), to try doing the samt with a pistol and free aim with my lvl 7 guy, but i cant help feeling a bit supprised.

 

I think it might actually be for the better, since i now really have a challenge in such a simple task as stealing a methlab on wheels.

 

I wanna post this as a question if anyone else experience the same, and as a tip to anyone who wants to add to the experience.

Going from GTA Classic to Free Aim is quite a switch. It takes awhile to get used too.

This game really wasn't meant to be played on free aim. The gun physics and aiming ability isn't up to par with a pure first person shooter.

 

I don't care what people say. There is no AIM ASSIST funtion in this game like there is in a game like Halo, CoD or L4D.

 

If you really want to do better in free aim, I suggest wall camping like a mofo and going with a long range weapon like the snipe.

It'll take time, that's just about it. After playing on PC for a while and coming back to GTA, I always do a sh*t job at shooting. Even after playing for a while, sometimes I still do a sh*t job at shooting. Aiming with a controller in general is just... Bleh.

its true when they say its not designed for that, its designed for run&gun, being rambo, shoot 5 cops, blow up the chopper, turn round, take aim with the sniper for the player down the street, kill 5 more cops... and so on.

The competition is harder in freeaim. You might want to level up in autoaim until you have the necessary tools to defend yourself in freeaim.

Uncharted, a PS3 TPS game, also has aim assist. Rockstar pretty much gives us either aim lock, or no aim lock/assist.

 

Don't worry, you'll get used to it over time.

Just press X on 360, or Square on PS3, I think, to roll in whatever direction you're moving.

Yes there is aim assist, that's what the assisted aiming option is for...

 

And the worst thing you can do in freeaim is camp, the whole excitement about freeaim is that you always have to be on the move and using proper cover to survive, it's no longer about being a monkey and just tapping LT and shooting wherever the game aims for you. You actually have to plan things out on the fly.

Wall camping is a scrub way to survive in auto aim. Wall camping is completely ineffective in FA.

I never said this game was up to par with FPS games. That was the whole point to my posts.

 

I did good enough in CoD and every other game I've played with camping.

 

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to prove that camping really does work.

One should always listen, and then make own decisions. We all put different priority in our game achievments, really no way to judge another other than on pure assumptions. Probably real life showed most of us that assumptions are not the best way to prosper.
