Honestly, what were you expecting? The game is out of control (and so it should be, it's GTA after all) yet you do something as risky as that in a public game. I don't care if you say "Well I don't like invite only, blah blah blah". It's your own fault. Yet you whine and moan about it like you're entitled to be excluded from all the mayhem. I'm glad it happened to you, maybe now you'll start to play the game it's supposed to be played. Trust no one, not your own mother and never run down the street with scissors in your hand.

 

It's Grand Theft Auto, not Hunger Games. It's named after a crime, yes, but I'd like to think going on a rampage in a tank and killing people constantly would be known as something more than a 'crime'. I was expecting to stay alive for more than ten seconds rather than eating a missle each spawn, the only reason you defend these morons is because you're one of them. You can sit there and say that "This is how the game is, get over it." but the game doesn't have to be this way, and would be better if it wasn't. Simply put; you have your own opinion and you may like being a dick/causing mayhem, but I'm often against having fun at the expense of other people's joy.

last week i stole a fully modded futo that was about to change hands, knew the location and what was about to go down thanks to a conversation i overhear... off radar, kill them, stole the thing and SOLD! hahaha they were so pissed.

 

minutes later, they tried again, this time the car did change hand but instead of going straight to lsc to put tracker and insurance, they decided to stop in a clothing store... i when off radar, placed sticky on the front plate of the car, leave the area, watch the map waiting for the moment, they drive to the airport lsc as is safer, as they are about to enter BOOM! haha insta rage quit!

I had something similar happen to me, but no tanks were involved. I was, like OP, modding a car (Dubsta) for a friend & while I was messaging him about what mods he wanted (by this point I'd bought all performance mods & finalizing on paint) someone kills both of us, steals the Dubsta & makes it his personal vehicle. I nearly exploded with rage...But instead I sucked it up, stole another Dubsta & took it to the Airport LSC to mod it...the money I lost that day...

 

It's a shame there are so many Rhinos wreaking havoc in Los Santos but I doubt they will be removed, the backlash R* would get for that would be horrendous as everyone who bought one would be robbed of 1.5 million dollars (the Rhino's value in GTA Online)

Very bad luck. Should have spent the cash in a private lobby. I spent all night looking for tanks to snipe, and it was so empty, I had to resort to leaving one at LSC for some action.

This. Very bad luck indeed, but you should know better than to try to give a car away to a friend in a public freeroam. Unless its an unmodified vehicle that he was looking for like a Sultan, Feltzer, Tailgater, etc. a rare a car that you put 0$ in. Even then when some asshole blows it up it still sucks but its what evs because you didn't lose $.

Before you say "Why didn't you go into passive mode?" well... simply put; you can still run people over and park on them until they die, which is what he did. I did all I could to avoid him, to take out the tank, and to just get out of there but no... this wouldn't be an asshole if he didn't have more than himself, so of course, here comes his buddy with yet another tank. They kept doing this, and later on after I quit I got a message from the guy saying he was sorry, he didn't know the car didn't have insurance, and added me. I thought "Oh cool, bit of an ass but at least has some morals." but nope... he joined my game, where I had done up yet another Sabre for my buddy, and did the exact same thing with an RPG as we drove to LSC.

 

 

Check radar often and try to play with as many friends as possible in the lobby... if you wanna play in public session this is the safest way to do it.

 

Also... no confíes totalmente en nadie que hayas conocido en el juego hace menos de una semana .

Only thing I can say is what others have said, don't drive uninsured cars anywhere near the city, go up to Blaine county.

 

Or start an invite only session while you mod the car for him and rejoin a public session once you're done, this is what I do when I'm helping people get Hearses.

Let me guess, you dropped out of school before you were taught to read, thus missing where I said I was at the airport LSC. Now, I dunno about you but last time I checked said LSC was not the most popular, and actually one that often goes unused.

As for people saying I should know better than to be in public while doing something like this? Yeah, I should, but I wouldn't need too if people stopped being a bunch of assholes and killing for no reason. If you like killing, play DM or LTS, if you like the tank, do some of the tank DMs.

No need to remove tanks, this brings me back to that thread about having a safe zone radius around LS customs, more so that vehicles and people in that radius can't attack or be attacked for 10 seconds or something.

 

There are ways to prevent vehicles from running you over, climb something and if they just camp there waiting for you, wait a couple of seconds.. then come out of passive and shot gun his face as soon as you can. Then avoid further conflict if you don't want to be bothered and change session, person will be pissed lol.

I know I shouldn't be playing public while doing something risky, but nobody was really around and I thought I'd be all good because the lobby had been awfully quiet the whole time. It's my bad, yeah, my mistake and I could have been safer about the whole thing; do I think tanks should be removed? No, but I think there should be something to stop them from being so easily accessible, taking into consideration that their price was the only thing really making them... you know, tough to get and cash was glitched more than anything.

Yeah, sometimes even heading out to Blaine County or even Paleto Bay doesn't even cut it. Chaos going on in the city as par the course last night, so I drive out to Sandy Shore to do my character's hair. No one around, but by the time I had settled on my new hair do, there were two guys waiting outside the barber shop to kill me.
