Crazyeighties
I am getting ready to reveal my next epic project making a mod vintage scooter and I have never done this type of metal work and I was wondering if anyone has any pointers on working with metal
gtamann123
Be careful. On Tuesday I was working with a piece of sheet metal and tore open a huge gash in my hand down to the bone. I drug my feet getting to the doctor because I dont really have the money for it. But I eventually decided to go and it required 11 stitches. And they said if I had waited a few hours more they would need to do a graft. It really sucks because its my right hand.
MarshalMoo
I was working with metal the other day and a piece of blazing slag burned a hole in my pinky. Edited January 18, 2014 by JIMHO

Finn 7 five 11
When cutting stuff always Use ear protection, those saws f*ck your hearing pretty fast.Always wear safety goggles.Wear gloves when handling sharp metal. Before you do something, stop and think for a second to see if it is really safe, are you going to trip on that cable? Is the cable going to be in the way?a Seems like stupid OH&S crap that's been drilled in, but it really does make sense, too easy to get f*cked up with that stuff, I used to love metal work though, slow and steady and you'll get the results you want. Moonshield
Yeah, metal is never loud enough so turn your amp all the way up and shred that guitar like your life depends on it....Oh wrong kind of metal. Nale Dixon already made that joke. But to echo with others have said, if you're going to be machining or shaping metal, wear gloves and glasses. Cutting or welding, make extra care to wear proper protection (welding mask). And if you're using any sort of moving machinery to machine the metal, don't wear any loose clothing items. It'll also help if you've got somebody in the shop with plenty of experience to either help you with technique and be a general safety spotter for you. Good luck! mr quick
Seek some help. I tried mending a rusted-to-sh*t car without any hands-on training = turned out barely better than before, and very amateuresque
