Do you think GTAO racing is still fun?

or has people catching you from behind kind of ruined it?

Make sure catch up is off, and yes its very fun.

no, even with catch up off, you cant even have close call races cause the person next to you will either attempt to ram you away, or end up getting a retarded sudden boost of momentum just for driving behind you

...which then will either send you flying off the track or they'll just fly by like nothing happened

Custom maps with the person designing it finishing 1st or 2nd every time can be a bit tiresome.

Jumps Jumps Jumps and Jump or Die are trying to kill this mode.

That's just rude. I always pull over/slow down. Especially for first timers on my CC races.

They're fun, depending on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a racing sim, yeah, they won't be fun. Otherwise, turn on GTA Race, turn off custom vehicles, play with friends, and enjoy the craziness that results.

i have not yet done a 'fun' user created map. most of them include jumps which really ruin racing in my opinion, takes away from driving skill and adds a factor of luck if your car gets launched right and lands right....

as an overall question, gta 5 racing can be fun, but its really rare. so many dirty racers that crash to win, catchup ruins racing in any game - should always be driver vs. driver, gta racing is blended into regular racing (gta4 had 2 seperate lobbies), you cant change the race track after you started it (like you could previously), slipstream - while realistic - also takes away fun from the game, and finally, dont really care for point to point races

if they brought back gta 4 lobbies where you could separate races / gta races / point to point races and just completely removed slipstream and catchup, i think gta 5 racing would be better

I hate those 2 races, no creativity and pure chaos, i dont know what R* saw in these races.

This.

I enjoy doing races, I do them all the time but I do not like them with catch up on. Nothing worse than doing 'Jumps Jumps Jumps' with catch up on, being in the lead, and missing the jump over the bridge because catch up slowed you down too much. I try hosting races often, in order to do some of the ones that are more challenging and not just the same ones you see all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes I have to join random races due to Rockstars faulty lobby system where it, at times, refuses to allow anybody to join your races, and at other times the lobby fills before you've even finished the settings for the race.

no, I hate being ramped all the time

(yes, I know skillful player can avoid this, Apparently I am not that skillful)

that's why I am a little but regret having the XF in my garage

(I have it mainly for racing purpose)

a racing simulation is exactly what I'm looking for.Aside from car meets, I might just give up gtao racing and buy forza

I always turn custom cars off and catch up on. Just cause catch up is in does not mean the person will catch up. They still have to drive good or else it does nothing. I also turn traffic on as it adds a surprise element.

DNF's are lame.

Catchup can be lame BUT a counterpoint is that people run these really long races for 2 or 3 laps, often on a course that has at least one poorly designed feature. Wreck once, DNF. S

Also, you're better off driving aggressively. I always drive chill as I race mainly with my crew. I also get run off the track and DNF the most. The races where I intentionally ram into people or cockblock on turns, I tend to do well in. Shame but just about everybody races this way so all about adapting, I guess?

I used to do nothing but races. That's all I did in IV. I quit when the payouts were cut and then the creator just made it worse. Or so I hear. I do one from time to time but its hard to find a good one.

With your friends, it is and always has been a lot of fun.

With randoms? Biggest steaming pile of filthy excrement ever to be branded racing..

Meh. I don't care anymore. It's playable, but it has never been perfect. Fun? Maybe sometimes.

I really enjoyed racing early in GTAO (despite catchup and slip streaming) and logged almost 1,000 races, but have pretty much given up on it at this point. The coup de gras was the introduction of user created and "verified" races, which are almost exclusively terrible.

I've played Need for Speed and Midnight Club since childhood. The racing could be better, I'm really getting tired of that slipstream crap. Should be able to turn it off honestly.

Had a quite fun race yesterday with some newbies. I wouldn't say it was bad right, but I could have spend does 7 minutes of racing on a potential deathmatch.

It's okay if you get far enough ahead and avoid the rammers behind you, but sometimes you unfortunately HAVE to deliberately run people off roads to have any chance. If you overtake someone properly, all they'll do is run up your as and buttf*ck you like the ******* they are. So if you're going to overtake you may as well do it first to them. I try to clip them so it causes less interference with me and more with them.

I've learned how to do jumps jumps jumps so I usually have a bit of fun on that one.

It's only fun when you're racing with friends so when they ram you and win, y'all can laugh it off before a quick backstabbing in free roam.

Have a go at one of mine, lots of skill needed, no ramps and always a good laugh with a few mates.

Nearly every time I play it with random people they always replay it sometimes more than once

Only use a sandking or Messa jeep or you won't be able to do it
