HD vs III

  1. 1. What amount of detail would you prefer compared to content?

    • San Andreas graphics exactly like in that GTA. Way more content
      11
    • An amount in between III era and HD era. More content
      24
    • Full HD graphics like in V. Less content
      15
    • Even better detail than in V. Way less content
      3

I wondered if GTA would be much better if everything wasn't as high def. Im not saying make it SA graphics, there should still be much more detail, but there must be some middle ground. People dont have to be blocky but also not geared towards looking completely real.

What that would mean is that the size of the game would be smaller in the amount of space it takes up, so to allow for more content, a bigger map, interiors, story, cars and pretty much anything else. physics and mechanics can still be better or realistic too.

The point im trying to make is games dont have to look better than others to be more fun and offer a better experince. GTA VI can be a big state for real with way more features and much more fun and impacting than V even if it isn't as pretty.

Considering the fact we're moving onto the next gaming generation, I don't think this will be an issue and will find a middle ground now. I can see what you're saying, but GTA's graphics are a key part of the game and always have great detail, so I never see it going back a step further than it should, though onto the next gen consoles, I think we can expect the games to have much more content while having stronger graphics.

Just my assumption and thoughts. :-)

One thing that bothered me is that because there was so much detail in V, they ended up removing content like trees, apparently so 360 and ps3 would run smooth. Imagine all the forest that should be on all those barren hills and mountains. I completely expect the next gen versions to be entirely different, if it isn't, that's bs.

Next-Gen GTAs would just take over the Gaming Industry as a whole.

I don't bitch and whine about the games....you try and make a gta...i dare you, i double dare you motherf*cker, say what one more goddamn time...ohhh..sorry, wrong line...but you get the point...and NO.let the 3d era rest in peace..it was great...now we're here...it was easier back then to make a gta game..they made one every 2-3 years...now technology is bumpin actually pretty fast...and it's the 1st time they used the rage on gta iv and the 1st time they used rage 2.0 on gta v...wait on the dlc or whatever(i mean the story dlc) adn we'll see if it's improved or the same...sure they can still update some of the stuff...but the answer is again, NO!

Vote: An amount in between III era and HD era. More content

I think having HD era or better looking games have nothing much to do with content. The point is bigger is not always better. A small map like vice city is a classic example. It was loaded with a lot of activities despite the small size of the map. It was still damn fun.

V has a massive map and the details put in are also top notch. But the details are worked upon more on looks than content to interact or live this beautiful city. So many things are missing, namely, interiors, objects to fiddle or roam around the vast open lands. No doubt it looks beautiful but if you have right amount of brain cells you'll know that beauty fades, just staring and appreciating the looks are not enough to sustain a player's interest in the long run. We need more content to play with as well.

In short, the retiring consoles have done their job. Now the upcoming next-gen consoles can handle it better and make room for a complete satisfying experience that will balance the beauty charged with content in it's effect and making it more meaningful.

Captain Arthur

IMO, if they degrade the graphics, then VI won't be as successful as V. I'm not saying I won't like it or anything but, majority for the people in the gaming industry today think that realistic graphics is essential for a good game.

So, no, I wouldn't give up HD detail for anything. I would like a good mix of both. Good graphics and more content.

More content that is fleshed out as well as more (or the same amount) of detail as GTA V/GTA IV. Shouldn't have to give up detail for content and vice versa IMO, particularly with next gen and everything.

Absolutely not. I was perfectly fine with the amount of content in IV & V anyway. Even if the next installment doesn't quite match up, top it off with amazing next gen detail and it's bound to be one hell of a glorious GTA experience.

I just want more random sh*t to happen more often in the next one.For instance I was playing san andreas on my phone the other day in my car waiting for some green beans to get delivered.f*cked off my bike on the freeway then a couple cars started crashing into each other. Before long trucks, cars, van everything started piling guys started fighing each other then boom sh*t started exploding. If this type of random thing was more present in the HD era of GTA`s I could dig it.

Bias poll with short minded understanding of what the HD GTAs offer. There is not a lack of content, just different things the games offer.

I don't think that the HD-era offers less content/fun factor than the 3D-era games did, and I don't see that changing in the future. GTA IV and V are both graphically impressive, given that these are openworld games. I don't know about the newest installment, but IV has the right amount of content and side-missions, in my opinion. There are generally less features compared to San Andreas, but they are definitely more fleshed out in exchange and don't get as repetitive over time.

I'm happy if the same is the case with future titles. The graphics should keep getting better like it has always been the case with previous games. GTA was never about graphics, but I still think that the two most recent games are looking better for their respective times than SA did for its time. This will not be much different in future GTAs, either, since Rockstar uses their own engine since 2006.

Why isn't there a voting option such as 'HD graphics, but hopefully more content next-gen'?
