In the Statue of Happiness, a music will sound at 12 PM. Apparently, is the same music of the ice cream truck. Here you have a video:

Russian NPCs in hove beach may back niko up in a fist fight. Happened when i had a rough interaction with mohammed.

I wonder was that during the time in the story when you're working for the Russians? The Russian gang members won't attack Niko (or even defend themselves if he attacks them) during that time.

Interesting! Maybe they can get annoyed by NPCs starting trouble near them the same way they can get annoyed with Niko (and decided Mohammed was the one who started it). Love how complex the NPC behaviour is and how all kinds of different random scenarios like this can happen as a result.

Indeed. This occurs as Niko starts working for Faustin.

What Payne mentioned is sort of strange, though, as I don't remember witnessing Russian NPCs backing Niko up post Faustin's death (or probably Dimitri's betrayal).

I wonder if they can get annoyed by NPC's fighting/causing trouble and start fighting them as a result? Or alternatively maybe they were annoyed by Niko fighting or just being near them too long and it's actually Mohammed fighting for Niko (haven't heard of that either but just speculating).

Probably not, as they (well, gangs in general, but not exclusively) usually watch them fight or run away.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Console version uses a different mix of Soviet Connection in pause menu than PC. IMO much more creepy and better sounding. Actually, it's valid for main game and both DLCs.

Does the console version have different loading screens too?

Yes, but only base game. DLC loading screens are the same across all platforms.

Discovered a couple extra lines of dialogue from a couple of the Jewish mob’s guards in the mission Late Checkout, which I hadn’t come across before since usually I jump straight into combat when getting out of the elevator.

You can hold Right trigger on gamepad, and player will keep aiming same as you do with Left one, once you push to the max, gun will fire.

From all of my time playing GTA IV, I only come to learn just now Niko will say a different set of dialogue depending if his mood is calm or angry throughout different scenarios especially if he's in a gunfight or has collided with a car or pedestrian when driving.

If you turn the camera round you'll see he has a permanently angry facial expression when he's in "angry mode" too. He goes into angry mode any time he has a wanted level and for a little while after dying, getting busted or failing a mission.

I have only just realised now that when the LCPD officers abandon a police cruiser for any other vehicle during a chase, their icon will disappear from the mini map. In effect they end up becoming “undercover” cops.

I only took notice of this during my last playthrough when I was messing around with the LCPD in Hove Beach. Niko was knocked off the bike quite a few times during the chase when I thought I’d lost them by looking at the mini map and seeing no flashing icons representing the officers on foot or in a cruiser nearby, then suddenly a car being driven by an LCPD officer would careen into the bike from seemingly out of nowhere.

So good to see this place still alive, so many memories with GTA 4, crazy.. I'm gonna start to play again. Anyone remember the telephone pole guy and mailman? Hahah or the guy painting his house, very rare to see that one.

This game is still amazing and holds up pretty well, goes though time like nothing.

A cut friend activity is Video Games.

That's right, Niko could participate in playing video games with Roman, Brucie and Dwayne, and the dialogue was all recorded for it before it was scrapped. As to what games would be played? Well, obviously we could consider the idea of QUB3D having an alternate vs. friend configuration, but it goes further than that.

The arcade, called Videogeddon (seen in the mission Ruff Rider where Niko confronts Jayvon and Cherise) was originally going to have a fully fleshed out interior, with the mission itself originally being written different according to found script (you would actually go inside the arcade, find Jayvon and Cherise, kill them, and fight Jayvon's gang before making an escape). This leads me to believe that Videogeddon was going to be a real location you could visit and could bring your friends to.

The fact that the building itself is so distinctive, yet you never go inside it, does suggest some big plans were originally made for Videogeddon before it was scrapped due to time.

There were images found in the files that look like 2D spaceships, likely a retro-esque space shooter game, which would likely be a game you could play. There was a cut zombie game called Z Resurrection, which might have been an activity with friends too.

This may have been said here already but Karen's car being a Merit, the same car used by LCPD, is a hint to her being a undercover agent from the IAA.

In the PC version, you can use the numpad on the keyboard to dial on the phone instead of using the in-game keypad.

Patrick can use molotovs in Diamonds are a girl's best friend(this the mission where Bulgarian shows up, right...).

I got a wanted level on the bridge after the diamonds have been lost and Patrick randomly started throwing molotovs out of the car's window.

Afterwards, he did not unequip it and it was clearly being held by him in the car, with visible fire coming out of it. Car wasn't damaged by molotov's fire.

You can actually shoot guns out of enemies' hands if you aim at the gun itself. It'll knock them out, and disarmed they'll either run away to cover or try to pick it up.

I'm sure some people here knew this, but I only found out recently. This whole time I never knew simply because when I shoot at someone, I aim to kill. Wonder if there's any strategies you can form around disarming people...
