PhillBellic 24,564
- Niko's last name, Belli ( c ) means "war" in latin. The "Belli" thing is pointless, it's just the Anglicised version of Belić which in Serbian means something like "Whiteson", "White" or something like that, it doesn't directly mean white, but it's like making a surname out of the word "white". t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m 3,907
In the online modes, it is possible to spot a random pedestrian holding a pistol. The pedestrian, however, will be oblivious to the fact that they are holding a pistol and will not use it against you if attacked. I've seen them a few times while doing the swing glitch with my friend and in various other places. I remember me and my friend were playing a private free roam match and goofing around in Star Junction. My friend was in Burger Shot and two Russian mobsters came in with assault rifles and started shooting at him. If I hadn't seen their bodies, I wouldn't have believed him. Cebra 1,434
- Streetlights and even some trees move in the wind during a thunderstorm. - Niko has dialogue for each street in Liberty City when directing a cab driver, unlike in GTA V where the protagonists only name in which district they want to go. - Michelle doesn't drink on dates, and judging by Niko's comments spikes his drinks to get information out of him. - In First Date, Niko mentions how some of Michelle's furniture still has tags on it. This is foreshadowing her betrayal, and showing that it's just a temporary government apartment. - The United Liberty Paper Company is a front for the IAA, as revealed in GTA V. - Alex's blog indicates that Niko has a large...appendage. - Certain peds can survive incredible damage. Once, I shot a Jamaican twice in the chest with a shotgun, point blank, and he was still alive on the ground. - In Bleed Out, Niko has different responses depending on how you deal with Dardan. If you knock him out, Niko will say "That's what we owe you, Dardan. Nothing else". If you kill him by Sparta kicking him out the window, Niko will throw his arms up and say "I promised myself I wouldn't kill people here!". If you disarm him and stab him with his own knife, Niko will laugh and say "You shouldn't play with sharp objects, Dardan." - The injury system was awesome. Seriously, it was. I just encountered this today; I was playing Bleed Out again, and was at the point where I had to confront Dardan. I ran up unarmed against his knife, but got lucky and punched him square in the face. He went down immediately despite having full health, and I grabbed his knife and walked away with Niko satisfied with not killing him. As I stepped onto the outdoor catwalk of the factory with a view of the Humboldt River, I stopped for a second to look at the sunset and Dardan came limping from nowhere, walking by me. As he did, he said "You broke my arm already, man!" and faltered away. There was a small gap in the metal fence that looked to the Humboldt, and of all places he went right into that gap. He fell, screaming. I ran up to the gap in time to see him slam onto the edge of the concrete, then spiral into the river, dead. T'was epic. uncredited 178
Nice story! The first time I killed Dardan was with molotovs I found near the factory - epic as it was the very first time I played. I do not know if it have already been mentioned here but you can hear pedestrians talk in German or having a German and French accent. During the opening cut-scene, when Niko gets out of the Platipus, a man bumps into Niko and says "entschuldigung" afterwards, meaning sorry of course. Once I was runing on the pavement when a lady shouted "Oh my God" in a very French accent.

Diesleman 240
The game was released about 6 years ago and is still a great deal of fun. But seriously hadn't seen this posted though, Im sure you probably all know.. You can squeeze the right trigger half way to increase the accuracy of your initial burst. Drunken Cowboy 5,833
- Well I just found out today if you honk your bike's horn (somehow) while pack-riding in TLaD, all the other bikers in formation will honk their horns crazily and let out "LOST MC! LOST MC!" battle cries. - Claude's outfit, only available at Playboy's apartment, is actually just the dead Armenian's motorcycle jacket retextured black, you can faintly see the outline of the eagle-thingie on it. - Tom Goldberg's original name was intended to be "Tom Jackson" to parody the over-zealous lawyer, "Jack Thomson", who had been attempting to sue past Rockstar titles. Though the name was changed for the game's release, you can still find "tomjackson" in the game files. - If you jump off the Statue of Happiness a hundred times, a jetpack will spawn in each safehouse. I hope some morons actually try this. Edited March 24, 2014 by Drunken Cowboy
Olanov 149
- Police officers have the name ''John Grimes'' written on their nametags - FIB agents were ment to have more accessories such as hats and glasses. I actually believe it reads John James. It's hard to make out though so it could really be anything. Anyway, the FiB agents do have those accessories, Rockstar just never set them to actually use them. Same with the cops, both fit and fat. Although the cops use hats, they never use their glasses or the fat LEO's their watches. Custo released a fix for it. Also, not really a cool thing I found, but a discovery anyway. Turns out the game doesn't have a timer between fit and fat cops. The fat cops tend to appear more because it takes less memory for the game to load them up than the fit cops which have far more variaton. I noticed this when I replaced the string for fat cops with another and the fit cops were more prone to begin spawning. The police cruiser and patrol are still on a timer, however. You can squeeze the right trigger half way to increase the accuracy of your initial burst. It will cause the reticule to become momentarily smaller, particularly useful in free aim. If you do this in multiplayer while playing as a female character, pressing the "action/talk" button will make your character utter some unique phrases. Some that I can remember off of the top of my head are "Look at the birdie!" and "I've got you in my sights!" If you play as the cops in cops and crooks, and proceed to do this trick, the police players will also use their "target" speeches. "I've got him!" "I got you in my sights!" - When an officer happens to step just right into your wanted zone without seeing you he will take out his radio and be informed of the situation, briefly after that he will unholster his sidearm. I wish, but I'm fairly certain that was a coincidence, for they do their walkie talkie animations by random unless on alert and engaging in a chase/manhunt. They won't touch it then. t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m 3,907
-Look closely into some of the shop windows. You can see real-life products, such as Cheez-Its in the window displays. -The Governor Greg Johnson Projects have signs calling it Harmony Heights Secure Community Housing. This could be a beta name, or just an oversight. -Some intersections have both stoplights and stopsigns at the same intersection. -One shop has a missing window frame, leaving a gap where you can see into blue hell. I can't remember if this was in Dukes or Algonquin. -The spinning radar at the airport can be stood on. There is an invisible floor above it, so you can't spin around (unfortunately). -Driving a Tug onto land causes a lag fest. This is fun to do in multiplayer and piss everyone off with. -In my previous post about the disappearing bus stop, this works with other guns as well. Here's a video for proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSXlLKUkPp8 This might imply that bus stops once had damaged models? -Armando Torres' name translates to "Building Towers"

Whiite Devil 19
Nice thread! After all those years, I still love GTA IV. It's nice to see that other people still do too. - In the mission Smackdown, you have to kill someone named Bucky Sligo for Derrick. After you chase him down to his hideout, you can get inside. There's a Love Fist poster in one of the rooms (it's the same artwork from GTA VC). - Before the game was released, the russian clothing shop was actually Binco. Must have been changed very late in development; there's a leftover texture inside the game files, and once I logged into Social Club to see my GTA IV stats and it said that my favorite clothing shop was Binco. Don't know if it is still there, though. - I guess stuff like this is common knowledge for those who were excited for the game a few years ago, but whatever: early previews of the game mentioned the ability to climb light poles. The soundtrack also went through several changes, and songs mentioned in previews were never head in the final game. - You can get inside the building you take Roman to in the mission It's Your Call (here's a picture from the wiki so you don't have to take the dust off the game just to check this out) - In the mission Bleed Out, Roman is attacked by some thugs, and the last one runs away to an old building near the docks. This is hard to do, but if you manage to somehow push him through the window, a short cutscene plays out showing the thug falling into the water and Niko saying that "[he] had promised not to kill anyone [t]here". I'll try to remember more Edited April 4, 2014 by RogerFH

Gnocchi Flip Flops 26,328
No matter how far away you are from the last car that you've driven, it still remains there until you get behind the wheel of another car. I found this out over a year ago but I tried it out two days ago, on accident, and it was successful. I was still chasing the same bus that I had been chasing all of the way from Francis International Airport to President City, Algonquin in my beloved, light green Inventero Coquette. I was sifting through my phone for the health cheat but hit "SIXASIS" on accident. My car was too good to lose so I exited SIXASIS and walked all of the way from the airport to my car. And it was still sitting there, in the middle of the road near the Rheinlander Hotel, with a banged up headlight. Impressive. Its a shame that it doesn't work like this in V and even if it did, that threaded impound system would cause the abandoned car to despawn.
