I think we should wait for the game to release, and see the quality of future episodes, before getting worried.

I'm sure they are much more worried and nervous than us, both for the returns on investment and the gameplay success.

There's more at stake for them. I can understand to raise the quality of the experience to match with the expectations of the fans, any company would want to get the best returns for all the efforts, and time they invest, which is fine.

Unlike V, at least, we have the option to not spend entire money on purchasing the complete game.

The episodic purchases seem quite flexible for my wallet, and power to me, for deciding to support or not, with future additions, and even better, each add-on separately.

Just handle the expectations right and with care, and I've no problems in paying for the experience.

Well it's like what happened to Battlefront.

It doesn't matter if it looks amazing and seems decent, if there isn't enough content for the price we are paying people will be pissed off.

It's like the MGSV: Ground Zeroes thing. It doesn't matter if the gameplay is amazing, if it is a tiny portion of the game with limited replayability, it is no use for me. I want the entire game so I don't hit a barrier stopping me from enjoying more of the game straight away. It will pain me to do so but I will probably have to wait until it is all out and save myself the hassle.

It's the right call. f*ck episodic Hitman. I want to play the second level as soon as I'm done with the first, not replay one level over and over again for months like an autistic child. Or worse, play it once and forget about the whole thing until the next episode is out. Seriously, this is sh*t! People should be pissed. This is some kind of AAA version of early access. And people are falling for it.

i think Hitman is (for what i saw) a great step in the right direction... but i'm NOT buying into this episodic stuff. I'll buy the game when it will be full, so for me hitman is set to be released around december 2016.

I'm sad, because i fear that if this new business model fails, the quality of the complete game will suffer,.. but at the same time i don't trust them enough to buy an incomplete game.

Tough decision... but i want a complete experience, sorry.

this sounds like it could be the best thing ever, timed hits? there is no better way i can think of to create such a hitman feeling, but you only get them if youre in from day one right?

sorry im assuming thats still happening cant be arsed reading the thread but i understand people are worried that its going to be game with half released content and then new levels and sh*t appeare over time....i can honestly deal with that if these singularly occurring one chance hits are as great as they could potentially be. Im still f*cked off with absolution though, still havent finished it, so if even two or three levels on release are more in tune with older games ill be happy af

talking of absolution, you know what f*cked me off? im a professional hitman yet im rolling into cover everywhere, my suit probably cost a mint. so what, im walking into places trying to blend in and look like a slick, menacing but unassuming bad man and theres all mud and dog sh*t over the back of my tailored armani suit where ive been rolling about outside....f*ck that game

I never quite finished myself. I was enjoying it on some level, probably desperately wanting to love it but it didn't have me like Blood Money. Some games just got a little confused during 360 -era. They wanted a element of realism but it was juxtaposed by the bullsh*t you mentioned.

I'm going to stop looking at new Hitman stuff. I'll get the game regardless, I think and I want it all to be a surprise.

Its likely the last Hitman, since 47 is chronologically retired.

And this makes sense because...?

1. Your going to play a prequel of his career

2. You should be seeing the same or more ageing contour lines along his face from absolution if the story progressed. Since he's young, its a prequel

3. After the whole Benjamin Travis Fiasco and Diana exposing the I.C.A. There is a high chance the company went under.

Let's be honest with ourselves here. He's had a good run. 47 hung up his Sliverballer's and Garrot back in '12...

Please stop going on about the story if you only know of absolution. Consult the wiki for the order, but simply put, especially in contracts, you don't play the missions in the order they happen in the story line. All of hitman is a sequel/prequal

Uhm. Everyone knows the police raid and assassination in (Hunter and the Hunted) occurs after you kill the opera singer and his brother in Blood money's (Curtain falls) making it probably the only time the franchise had a bit of a prequel. Then again

How did you play did you play Contracts without linear order?

Anyone playing the beta?

That would require pre ordering the demo, so no.

You can cancel the preorder after downloading the beta; what I did.

Don't bother, it's atrocious. Worse than Absolution (serious).

why do i get the feeling that you're bullsh*tting? the HITMAN "demo" isn't anything like absolution.

you guys are so negative.

The story seems interesting at least. That "20 years earlier" prelude makes me wonder

Beta gameplay footage....

....if you listen to a conversation, it will mark how to kill them on the map...

I think they forgot that the main part of the game is finding all the ways yourself =.=

you can turn those hints off...

in fact, you can turn off other things in the HUD too (or disable the HUD completely). the game will only hold your hand if you want it to.

Got the Beta myself and only played around with the first mission. Feels like a mix of both Blood Money and Absolution. Game tends to stutter during cutscenes but this is a beta after all - hopefully they'll have that cleaned up soon. Don't mind the Challenges but they are also spoilery telling you what you can do instead of figuring it out all yourself. Oh, and David Bateson is back but no sign of Jesper Kyd. Still, what music is there is not too bad but still miss Jesper's touch.

47: "They called me 47."

Diana: "That's not a name."

47: "Well, make it one."

A little dig at the recent movie I assume.....

Well, I hope so.

I will not buy the game at release. I never bought absolution and I never played it; it was sufficient to watch gameplay to understand that the game was aiming at a 'wider audience', meaning hand-holding, scripted, streamlined levels. Seems at least like many things have changed in this game. No more magic pockets, freedom of approach, and so forth. What I hated most was this x-ray vision LOL! WHAT a joke!.. in this game there is a question mark over gaurds once you have thrown a coin. Reminds me off Donald Duck.

I'll wait and see

The argument seems that the episodic level allows the developer to keep correcting the problems as and when they come across with each maps release making the final release at the end of the year a different and better version than what they'll start initially after the release date.

It seems to make sense, and the initial release may get mixed reviews but on the other hand the final disc version could be better if certain problems are sorted out.

I'm more inclined to be in favor of episodes, and other than the lack of complete game on release, I don't find this problematic, instead the chance of getting a better product, in the long run, in the form of finished version.

Even teltale fans say their games get worse after each episode. Broken ages second episode was worse, i can't think of a game where it has worked out like that.

Chances are most the effort will be put into the first part, to get you invested into buying the sh*t part, without you knowing about how sh*t it's going to get

Well, reviews are there for a reason in order to get yourself some hints, and basic info before you decide to buy each addon.

Since this is the first time for them I don't want to jump into any conclusion by comparing with how others dealt to the episodic idea and staying positive for less mistakes, more care and thought will be given to the game.

I'm not even going to buy the first part unless the reviews and user reactions are out, so there isn't any really issue for me to wait and watch how this goes.

Right, well based off a brief gameplay video I have come to the conclusion:

The shooting animations f*cking suck.

I mean wtf. To be fair it was the same in absolution but it seems worse in some way.

For example. The way 47 holds his pistol. The only way I could describe how this looks is if he was offering a turd on a hankerchief to a curious koala bear.

I mean wtf. It is like a flopping fish in his hand, it looks horrendous. It is like the developers are aliens and are being given audio descriptions of firearms.

It is f*cking horrible. It flaps and flops up and down awkwardly, he is holding it with his wrist at a f*cking weird angle. And the assault rifle is held awful as well. It is just such lazy coding on their part. It happens way too much these days. They can't be arsed to make each weapon sit right in the hand so they just use a template for everything. It is awful.

It's not just the shooting animations either. The "break neck" ability on a body you don't even touch them. Even something as simple and classic as the fibre wire never even connects with anyone, it only even acts like one when dragging people with it on the floor which is kind of pointless at that point when they are dead. It would be better if you dragged them while strangling. It is much more useful to drag them one handed with a gun out just encase, and not with wire around their damn neck.

I am not so sure on the whole setup of the game yet. I really don't trust it will ever play like the originals even though it seems to. It feels kind of like a hollow shell of an experience. The beauty of the originals was that the only intel and story you got was from diana on the briefing page, you had to figure everything out as you went along and really plan for things. Paying attention to the active map and learning guard and target routes.

The only thing I saw that I thought was good was being able to specifically place objects where you want them, though it never really was important in blood money where just throwing or dropping an item was enough. It still seems like a step back overall from what we had 10 f*cking years ago can you believe?.

Also, wtf is up with that training level? It's a ship made up of basically f*cking cardboard, but the people are real and can be actually killed because of the blood, but if it is a VR simulator why have a boat made out of wood, may as well actually simulate it properly?

Seems like a right waste of a level and development time if you ask me. Like the training level at the pier in blood money. Too restrictive because it is a tutorial so I never enjoyed replaying it. Total waste of a level.

i trust daz completely so sad to hear some of that, also the koala bear comment, haha

i want no hints or hud, i played absolution on its highest difficulty to get that, but jesus christ till they patched it it was horrendous...i just cant play games unless its the hardest difficulty possible otherwise im constantly reminded im being a pussy..plus i dont exactly play many games so why not go all out

as a smoker the old tactic of watching the map for a while was perfect for me, id study it for ages whilst sat gettin high..then move in.

i do actually read hitmanforum sometimes and IO are very receptive to fan comments so i just hope this at least is a step in the right direction...and far far away from absolution
