How do you "Greet" other players?

How do you "greet" others in free roam?

196 members have voted

  1. 1. You're being followed while driving, do you....

    • Drive faster / Show them the meaning of haste
    • Blow 'em up / Shoot at them / Release the hounds
    • Hide or pull in somewhere
    • Stop and get out, trying to be friendly
  2. 2. Someone approaches you on foot, do you....

    • Shoot them quickly and unleash hell
    • Aim at them as a warning, or warning shot
    • Try to be friendly
    • Fist fight
  3. 3. A player runs towards your car, do you...

I'd like to know how people greet eachother in the game. I think it could be argued that GTA is a slight social experiment, like DayZ. I'm sure some will strongly disagree, but I feel I have a valid point. There are players in an open world environment with few limits and restrictions, free to kill, help, or simply ignore other players. I just find it interesting how some players will just kill on sight, while others will give rides from LSX to Paleto. What do you think?

I always find it quite nice finding someone who isn't a spontaneous murderous sociopath

I admit.

I like killing people without any reason. That's how I get off.

Death greeting 90% of the time. Just tried being friendly for a week and that didn't work for me, so back to my old ways for now. Although if you have a mic, then chances are I won't kill you if you appear friendly.

It depends on how I'm greeted. I am generally content with letting people be but if I get shot at, bombed or killed 3 times before I get half a mile, I will kill on sight.

To me it all depends on their level really. I feel sorry for some of the lower levels, because you can tell a lot of them have been so battered and bruised by other players that they're hesitant to approach anyone and refuse to believe there's such a thing as a friendly player in GTA:O. If they're immediately hostile and a bad shot (free aim player) I'll just keep running toward them while dodging their bullets and let them know what a baseball bat/knife/rifle stock tastes like a few times, then I'll get in my car and drive up to them and honk for them to get in. If they do I'll try to show them a good time and give them a tour of San Andreas and some of the tricks of GTA:O trade. If they don't I'll just drive away and go about my business.

If someone runs toward my car without their gun out, I'll usually let them in.

If someone is chasing me and they have a clear intent to kill, I'll defend myself by any means necessary.

I'm always being nice, but most people are f*cked up in the head so that doesn't work. :)

if I haven't already been blown up or shot, I'll salute if on foot, or burn out in a vehicle.

I try to be as friendly as possible, if i find someone below level 10 I'll usually give them a fully modded car aswell. However when I do have a long and persistent battle with someone, and then work together after a while

the first one could vary.

if someone is "chasing" you... are you already running from them?

and i usually pull in somewhere i know i can kill them with an easy shot through the windshield (parking garage) IF they fire first. but usually when i do that i am out of the car and crouched waiting for them to turn the corner, finger on the trigger.

if someone is following me but slowly or flashing lights at me, smoking tires, stuff like that. then its all good brotha.... we might as well be family. :barf:

I believe the consistency of being chased around and sticky bombed most of the time in each session has made me paranoid of others approaching me. Nowadays I'm more attentive to who's friendly or not. I usually go for the death approach. I aim at their head first (warning), encase they get the best of me or shoot at them if they chase me. As for a player approaching my car, I drive off because when I try to offer a ride they usually kill me and take my car. If they don't want a ride I just go away and not bother them. :die:

who else considers a warning, to be one kill?

maybe its just me, because i don't get mad when a player who is acting friendly kills me then runs off, but i usually just sit in the same spot after that 1st kill. if they come back, weapon ready, then its on again until i decide to leave and go hidden to avoid noobish idiots. if they come back jumping around no weapon then meh, i guess they got the point. (until i get knifed in the back)

My license plate is HIIH8YOU.

That pretty much summarizes the point I've gotten to when dealing with other players. I want to be left alone.I don't want to hang out with low levels and watch as you slam your car into everything like it's GTA bumper cars. I will often raise my weapon before firing and see if someone moves on.

If someone is following me, I occasionally will slam the brakes and fire as they sail past me, or John Elway a sticky at them.

Tried to be friendly in this game and help people. Maybe a month or two ago I just said forget it.

If someone TEXTs me hello or something, maybe I'll consider a greeting, but otherwise, forget it. I don't even go to apartment invites anymore because people troll via that, waiting outside.

I get out, go straight into passive and salute them. If they turn round and still attempt to shoot me, then I turn off passive mode and then gun them down when they least expect it. I'm a friendly player but if someone shoots at me then they're fair game!

Surprised by all of the friendly votes. You wouldn't think there would be so many after reading some of the threads on the forum. Anyway, I personally kill anyone who gets too close. It's nothing personal of course, but I've learned that if someone is trying to break into your personal space it's usually because they want to kill you.

If there was a greeting thing like in IV, where you pressed a button and your person would say Hey or something, I'd use that.

Usually I greet people by honking my horn then they go with me everywhere. If I get honked at I usually get in the car, unless I am in my car.

If you don't have a blue outline on your blip....im killing you or will attempt too.

No questions asked. I have been killed way too many times by being kind.

Unless you catch me on a good day....im killing you. Now I have been known to let those who beep their car horns at me...I haven't been killed by someone who has done that, but as they say, there is a first time for everything and someday someone will beep their car horn and shoot me in cold blood and then I really wont let anyone live. lol. sorry but its the truth.

Lol @ the people that death greet.

If I get killed for no reason, I revenge kill till I get bored.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

It's still best to show your passive. Best way is to turn on passive mode when your approaching another player. Idiots will still try and kill you in passive.

If you're in a car, try honking a few times(with the stock horn) most people honk back and leave you alone.

I've noticed players in Super cars are more likely to attack without reason, and if your in a super car, you're kind of a magnet. Players in '' fun cars'' like low riders or whatever, seen more chilled out, and usually don't want to damage their car.

If I'm being followed in a car, I'll honk my horn or do a burnout. If they respond in a similar way.. all good.

On foot? Try to be friendly. I usually have the rocker emote on, so I'll use that, or drink a pisswasser.

If someone approaches my car... Get in buddy. We'll go for a ride.
