blitz 598 Posted May 25, 2012 Unlike the Funny Picture Topic and the Random GIFs topic, this topic is for picture that simply ooze with coolness. Let's keep the .gifs and pagestretches to a minimum, shall we?
Finn 7 five 11 916 Posted May 25, 2012 I always thought this was pretty awesome, the guy is trying to blow out the fires he started, but inevitably will reach him. By the way you might wanna add in the exact size, it's 640 x 480 i think?
AlexGTAGamer 50 Posted May 25, 2012 I always thought this picture was very awesome simply for the sheer amount of influential people/figureheads in the painting (I've provided a link for this one due to the fact that it is a very large painting): http://cliptank.com/PeopleofInfluencePaint...tialPicture.jpg How many people in that painting do you recognize? Also I am a great admirer of optical illusions, specifically those in street art form:

Chunkyman 90 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) As a history buff, I love photographs from wars and significant events (mainly WWII and Vietnam). French citizen as German tanks roll into Paris. Sinking of the USS Arizona. Soviet flag over a conquered Berlin. Helicopter evacuation during the Fall of Saigon. The famous "Tank Man" during the Tiananmen Square protests. This is probably my favorite concept art from any video game. I absolutely love this picture, I'm not quite sure why. fireguy109 525 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) Similar to that sidewalk art, but in an in-home version. Edited May 25, 2012 by fireguy109
Ryan 3,947 Posted May 25, 2012 Soviet flag over a conquered Berlin. We talked about this picture one day in my WWII history class this past semester, and there's actually quite a story behind it. Turns out to get that picture took several tries, due to the photographer's camera messing up, or him not liking the shot. Every time, the soldier had to go back out and retrieve the flag and replace it till the photographer got a shot he liked. During the whole ordeal, both were under German sniper fire as well. na89340qv0n34b09q340 512 Posted May 25, 2012 A few of them are too big, and I didn't feel like re-sizing them, so have an album. CLICK HERE! The first three are from the Greek riots. The fourth one is from a submarine. The fifth one was a project by some artist. and The last two are by this guy (I think, his pictures won't load for me though so I'm not sure.) edit: Also, are we allowed to post cool gifs, or is that restricted to the random gifs thread? Icarus 638 Posted May 25, 2012 Soviet flag over a conquered Berlin.http://greatpowerpolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/reichstag_flag_and_the_fall_of_berlin-484x350.jpg We talked about this picture one day in my WWII history class this past semester, and there's actually quite a story behind it. Every time, the soldier had to go back out and retrieve the flag and replace it till the photographer got a shot he liked. During the whole ordeal, both were under German sniper fire as well. As well, the photo was doctored when it was published in Soviet newspapers, because in the original, the soldier raising the Banner of Victory had two watches on (so they assumed he probably stole one off a dead body - bad press), so the second watch was edited out. Nah Tso Gud 296 Posted May 25, 2012 I really dig this one... unfortunately this one looks like its been edited though. it hasn't been edited. that's a famous photograph from New York. you can see Central Park in the background. Im aware of that, but it looks like there was some major dodging and burning going on. Perhaps it was from the original photographer in the dark room and thats why its so extreme.. But if so Ive never really noticed the halos around the construction workers.
